Me, My Guru – On difference between a disciple and a vidyarthi
"Guruji, why do you say not all students are shishyas or disciples”?
My Guru said “- A disciple is one who has to come as long as his Guru asks him to. A disciple is one who has to come and do whatever his Guru asks him to do. (here, don't misread this sentence. If the person in question IS A GURU, he will not ask you to do anything immoral.) Here, it applies to only various techniques of sadhan that his Guru asks him to do.
For someone to be a Guru, the most important thing is “the intent with which the student comes to a master”.
All others are just students (vidhyarthi) who come to take SOME know-how
to gain some material benefit. Then, the person who teaches him can't be his
Guru. He is just his (acharya) master. Know the difference!
