Me, My Guru – On difference between a disciple and a vidyarthi

Me, My Guru – On difference between a disciple and a vidyarthi

"Guruji, why do you say not all students are shishyas or disciples”?

My Guru said “- A disciple is one who has to come as long as his Guru asks him to. A disciple is one who has to come and do whatever his Guru asks him to do. (here, don't misread this sentence. If the person in question IS A GURU, he will not ask you to do anything immoral.) Here, it applies to only various techniques of sadhan that his Guru asks him to do.

A disciple is one who comes to “know himself”. He doesn’t come for some degree or to make money out of spirituality. He comes only to make the necessary corrections in his word, feel, actions and thoughts. He comes to overcome his weakness and realize his Divinity! Only a person who comes with this agenda ‘receives’ the Guru in his life! All others end up having only masters – even from a Guru that enters their life!

For someone to be a Guru, the most important thing is “the intent with which the student comes to a master”.

All others are just students (vidhyarthi) who come to take SOME know-how to gain some material benefit. Then, the person who teaches him can't be his Guru. He is just his (acharya) master. Know the difference!
