Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Such questions and outbursts from some of us was eye-opener. We said these words casually. We didn’t look into our intentions behind them. So, as suggested by some we sat to look within. We had to see and find out why we uttered these words? We had to find out the source of these outbursts. And when and what some found out jolted us from our sleep of ego. Some chose not to do this exercise – as always! Some justified their ‘not ready to find their intentions’ behind excuses like ‘but, I don’t like to mediate maam..’

‘but I don’t get answers maam…’

‘today, I am tired. I’ll do it later’.

Excuses were many. But, they all said only one things “We were not ready to come face to face with our real self’.

Was it because we were afraid of seeing ‘our real self’?

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

“Even our desires expressed our lust or greed for them. They were result of our emptiness. They didn’t come out of love. So, we kept count of the number of chanting*** we did and the amount spent on poojas and other rituals”.

“Isn’t it funny we spend Rs.1000/- on one movie? We may not even enjoy it sometimes and yet we don’t count the money spent. But Reiki class benefits us in so many ways and every single day we benefit through intention reiki and yet we are angry at Reiki and Guru for not giving us returns for our fees? They way we ‘value’ fees and returns from Reiki is really questionable. And in all this lay our double-standards – the classic expression of our ego”

“We are angry at what we didn’t receive as per our desire. But when asked to thank we always started with “well, little, little things are happening like for everyone. Small small things are so many but…” Look at every part of the sentence.

‘little, little and small, small’ – by using such words we very smartly are over-writing all the miracles happening with us.

‘…are happening like for every one…’ we are again negating the abundance experienced by us by stating ‘that everyone is receiving – so no big deal over there!’ Really? Will you accept if your family member dies due to covid? Everyone is losing – isn’t it?

Everyone is losing job – so, so should you- right? But job you are angry that you didn’t receive the rise ‘as expected and as you deserve’???Shouldn’t it work both ways?”

Such questions and outbursts from some of us was eye-opener.

chanting*** = here it is not to be understood as 'chanting' that we do as a group and I ask for no. of malas that you have done....don't apply right knowledge in wrong place....the malas that you chant are required for my count, so keep giving me the feedback for me to do the needful........

Ok, now if it doesn't apply to our group chanting, what is it that I am talking about? Where will you apply it and why? Explain if you please....

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

“You receive what you gave”. They gave knowledge by way of their understanding and inputs and hence they received that back. Simple! And to think I took so many years even to understand this Law and its effect in our receiving and abundance in life!?***

No doubt, our Guru kept stressing us to share our experiences every single time!

You are being stumbling block of your life!

These are few of the understandings we got when we put our minds together.

“We say we love our family and yet keep count of every act we do for them!?

We say we love our family and yet keep count of every penny we spend on them! Isn’t that shameful?”

“We wouldn’t keep accounts with our near and dear ones if and when there is affection involved. But, we do and that clearly says we are just doing business with them. And like in every business there is profit and loss in this business of relationship in our life. Profit being getting material benefits and demands met. And loss is our expectations not being met. This in turn causes pain and suffering. It was not because of the people in our life. It was because of ‘the kind of dealing’ we had with them - that of business.

***( As told million times before, you can only get donkey to water hole, you can’t make it drink!

Yes, I can only tell ‘tips’ which are actually simple ‘technique’ which are very easy to follow and yet have profound results and benefits stored for you. But to walk the path – unfortunately is your call! I can’t force you to..and therein lies my limitations. So too of God!

Some of you immediately follow for couple of days and then go back to your old ways. Again, when I remind very conveniently say “sorry maam”. I again repeat what I’ve told previously. You don’t get away with ‘sorry’. Because, I am not the one effected. The effect is borne by you and you alone. You are writing your destiny with these choices.

No act of yours benefits me in any way. You are the one who gains or losses! So, be sorry for self….)

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

It was here that he heard the milkmaids talk. He found his answer and solution. “Even a simple village girl knows how to love!” she doesn’t keep count of the milk that she gave her lover. For that girl even little money matters. And yet, she does not keep trail of ‘how much milk her lover had drunk”. She knew how to love. Such purity in love! Such simplicity in conduct! Such clarity in her vyavahara (loosely translated it is behaviour). If that is her conduct in love with a mortal, how much more better should mine for my lover be who is the ‘Ultimate lover – God!’?” so saying he returned into the jungle to resume his tapas (penance). Our Guru left to attend her personal calls.

We were left to discuss among ourselves. We enjoyed this part of our sessions. This helped us to share our opinions, insights, observations and experiences with one another. We learned from each other. If not, we would go with only our understanding. But when shared, we actually benefited more. Some of us were selfish even in this area! They kept mum most part of the day, but wanted others to contribute to groups talks. These silent people benefited from others’ experiences and explanations. And yet, they weren’t open enough to give and share their understanding and experiences. Therein lay their flaw in their attitude. It didn’t ‘seem’ bad but was not doing them any good. In fact, the people who didn’t share with others were the slow learners and absorbents of this learning. Yes, Rahul and gang benefited most all because of this one quality! Their nature to share their knowledge paved way to receive more of the same back into their life! Isn’t it simple?

Tips to understand the post :

“Even a simple village girl knows how to love!” she doesn’t keep count of the milk that she gave her lover." - We assume we need to learn from the rich, famous and the learned to love and live life perfectly. But that 'knowledge' isn't taught in any business school. It comes from the purity in intent, character and innocence. Many a times, love is lived by simple people for they are simple in character. With 'the mind that knows to think and be smart' comes cunningness in character that we are proud of as 'intelligence'. And that intelligence and that mind of ours robs us of the ability to love and be loved....

"It didn’t ‘seem’ bad but was not doing them any good." - Not sharing is not a bad attitude. And yet it slowed our learning and decided on our growth. See that with open eyes! Look into it! Meditate on that! A simple act like sharing can make so much difference in your self and healing happens in so many ways - just like that! And yet, we stop ourselves from doing that! At least, do you know why you do so? Don't justify your nature/act/ behaviour.....instead, sit in meditation and question it.....

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

She was a bit tensed as she re-ran her accounts. Her friend chided her saying “What about the milk you gave your lover? Did you count that?”

The milkmaid immediately retorted “Does anyone keep count of what one gives and how much one gives to his lover? Forget that and help me with my count”.

They all laughed and left after a while.

Now, there was a sanyasi lying on the other side of the tree. He was not visible because of thick foliage. He had been meditating for past 10 years in the jungle since the day he took sanyasi and yet he was not happy with the progress. One day he said “God, I’ve been meditating so long and yet you haven’t made me ‘realized’. I’ve even counted mantras ‘n’ number of times. And yet, with no fruit. I doubt if YOU exist. I don’t think I need to waste my time on such God!” He had left his place in jungle. Being tired, he lied down under this very banyan tree.

Some posts are very simple but effective...said in very few words and yet those few words encompass all that needs to be said...and the above link is one such post (for me!)

Tips to understand the post :

"One day he said “God, I’ve been meditating so long and yet you haven’t made me ‘realized’. I’ve even counted mantras ‘n’ number of times. And yet, with no fruit. I doubt if YOU exist. I don’t think I need to waste my time on such God!” He had left his place in jungle. Being tired, he lied down under this very banyan tree." - Even a casual way of talking or speaking on God is answered immediately - if only we know where and how to listen. Our every question is answered. But being adamant about even the answer to receive and the way we want to receive it, we don't take the answer and help that is sent to us!!! And then cry 'maam/God, why are you not coming to my help/aid/answering my question?'

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

 Contd.....

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Wouldn’t you shout at that car and its driver? We are the ‘driver’ who is putting that
mud on Guru here because our car of desire is running so fast!? Get it?

Next, understand one more thing here. People always assume they are ‘good people who are suffering because of bad God!’ See closely here – the way we misbehave and mistreat others because we are not able to address our anger and desires correctly is actually wrong! And that wrong gives out fruit called ‘karma’. As we sow, so we reap! Does that make us good as we presume ourselves to be? I wonder??!!

We have to bear consequences of our acts. We do! But again we hold others responsible for our suffering. The people we meet and the way they behave with us and treat us because of our karma – not because they are bad. We are ignorant of the consequences of our acts and behaviour when we are giving that to others. But when the same comes back to us, we suffer!

But our Guru being herself smiled and adjusted her saree. I could see she was going to tell us some story for sure. But, today I felt our class would go till late night. The complaints were so many that she would’ve to tell so many stories today! I was both excited and happy.

And our Guru started “In a certain village a group of milkmaids came to rest under a banyan tree. They had already sold all their milk early in the morning and were returning home. The Sun was just rising. But, the day had started long before for these girls and they just sat down under this banyan tree to relax for some time. This was their daily routine. They would all sell their milk in the village and while returning home would spend some time under this banyan tree. It was then that they looked into their accounts too! They were doing just the same when one girl said “I am falling short of Rs.50/-. I don’t know to whom I’ve given milk and not taken money”.

also read suggested : https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=Dear+descendents+of+Karna%21

read the given link to understand how we - well most of us are experts in 'giving'. Yes, I am not joking....we know to give, it's just that we 'give' something that comes back to hurt us too....we don't have to learn something different. We just have to learn to change the 'object' of giving....tell me, if you have understood it and what you have made out of this....

Tips to understand the post :

"The complaints were so many that she would’ve to tell so many stories today! " - We usually have so many complaints against a person or a situation. We then assume the problem to be a very big one too! But trust me, bigger the problem easier and simpler the solution.

"I was both excited and happy " - Here the narrator is happy because he is not the one with the problem and complaint. So he is ready to enjoy the story session. But see elsewhere he asks a question and the Guru starts with a story, immediately the narrator says 'why can't she just give an answer - straight and simple way'!

If you understand this small attitude and behaviour, it will be easy to understand how we behave. Both our anger and happiness is not 'based on right' reason. And we hold the other responsible for our anger and think we are suffering because of them!!

(Am I clear in this explanation? Could you understand it right? Are you able to see how you behave and how your behaviour is at fault in such cases?)

Clarification needed :

I have been giving such 'tips to understand the post' link for quite some time now....my question is

  • is it useful?
  • Am i clear?
  • I am giving the portion from the post in one colour and the explanation in the other colour. Is it clear that way? Is the purpose served?
  • Help me to help you better....my work may go waste if it doesn't serve the purpose of being useful to you....
  • do you want me to continue doing so or would you understand even without me going through this explanation?
  • please clarify....
  • any suggestion will be looked into and if feasible will certainly try to apply....
  • if you need any part of story/post to be clarified, do ask, will explain when and if can.....

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Today, the moment our Guru took her seat, she was bombarded with questions.

“Guruji, I’ve already done so much for my husband and my mother-in-law. Shouldn’t they be returning it to me? I no longer want to give. I hate them for all the pain I am undergoing because of them”.

“Even I’ve done so much to my company and yet my salary – they pay me in peanuts. I hate them for exploiting me so”

“I did pooja worth Rs.’X’ and yet my desire is not fulfilled. I hate God!”

“I did japam (chanting) mantra that you suggested ‘n’ number of times and yet I am not healed. How long do you want me to do this chanting?”

There clearly was anger evident in every question posed. They said “but, we are asking questions maam” but they weren’t questioning. They were ‘accusations’ in the guise of questions. They – or rather we all dumped our anger, frustrations and hatred on her. And we still called her Guru!? Therein lay flaw in our attitude and actions. This was the flaw that drew our ‘karma’ to us. And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?!*

Tips to understand the post better :

*(!? = wherever this mark is, understand it as ‘both question and exclamation)

And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?! - see this closely! You’ll see how we wrongfully dump our negative energies on the person who ‘doesn’t’ have anything to do with it in the first place. How would you feel about a person who driving his car fast causes mud to fall on you – you who are standing by the road?

Therein lay flaw in our attitude and actions. This was the flaw that drew our ‘karma’ to us. And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?! - Many times we are angry at someone or something and we take it out on the other. Usually this other is the spouse, parent -especially mother, our children - Why? Because somehow we take them for granted. Our children can't shout back at us and so we use them to dump our negativities on them when we get back home. And then we justify saying 'I had such a bad day at office and i was having splitting headache..so when the kid came didn't do homework i shouted..' Issue is very simple but we burst out at the simple excuse because we couldn't address and handle our emotions of our office or personal life the right way...

Don't take mother, spouse, Guru, God or some one who is ONLY wanting good for you as your punching bag. Treat them right. What you give to the person who loves you comes back from the person who has power over you....you are getting what you have given - always remember that!

That doesn't mean 'you stop giving negativity because of it coming back.' Understand it right! You are hurting the person who is standing by you at all times as doormat or punchbag and that is bad. Think about it! And so, you shouldn't want to give that to the person who loves you, supports you and wishing good for you!!!
