Pranayamam:

Simply understood – it’s “Breathing the right way”. It is the air that sustains us. It is the same air which is responsible for the quality of blood circulation in our system. But, many times, many of us are found breathing wrong. How?

Just observe the stomach as you breathe in and breathe out. Stomach goes in as we inhale and it goes out as we exhale. But when air is blown into the balloon it expands and as air goes out of it, it shrinks in size. Right?

The same philosophy should apply to stomach. But, it is not happening so. Which means we are breathing wrong. So, we sit and consciously breathe in and breathe out and this procedure is called ‘Pranayamam’.

The best way to develop the qualities of discipline, perseverance, regularity and patience would be to make a commitment to follow atleast one ‘Niyama’ technique without fail every day.

1. Going for a walk say for ½ an hour everyday at the same time – come what may.

2. Doing Asanas or exercise compulsorily maybe again for atleast ½ an hr.

3. Do ‘Suryopasana’ daily atleast once without fail .

4. To do hands-on (24 points Reiki) everyday however hectic the day has been without fail.

5. Getting up at 3 am and do Japa 108 times daily (and go to sleep afterwards if need be).

6. Going to a certain temple daily at the same time, do atleast 11 pradakshana and chant some Mantra 108 times there.

Any of the techniques could be taken up for the start. It would slowly induce the qualities of commitment in us. Regularly doing it would become our habit. Say in 2-3 months results would be obvious for everyone to notice. We would feel a sense of achievement just by sticking to, one simple task regularly. We’ll learn to revolve or alter our entire day’s schedule around this commitment. It would be at our back of the mind to do this job ‘even today’. So, we’ll automatically learn to concentrate on a given task while going through the activities of life. This can then be handy in any aspect of life. We’ll be able to effortlessly concentrate on the work on-hand for longer periods of time too if need be.
keep smiling till i get back to you,

Before looking into the various techniques and their desired effects of the ‘Sadhak’ let’s take a quick-view on the essential qualities of the Sadhak.

Commitment : To achieve anything a person requires to have a commitment. Moreso, if it is to beautify his life. Healing is nothing but an inward cleansing and a person should take personal responsibility of self-healing. And for that, qualities required are :

1. Perseverance to be in the path of self-healing till it is completely done.

2. Desire to do the work in the best possible way and to completely heal. No ‘chaltha-hai’ attitude.

3. Perfection is not humanly possible attitude/ belief system will not do. “Even to better the best and rest not till that best has been bettered” should be our motto. In short to be continuously striving towards perfection and working to update and upgrade that ‘perfection’ . It is all about dropping the ‘acquired self’ i.e, ego and realizing the real ‘self’’.

4. Patience is a greatest virtue. It is not great deal to achieve the victory but to have patience to work towards the victory – that really is a tough job.

5. Sadhan or self-study and self-healing calls for regular Sadhan. Being regularly irregular doesn’t help. One should be regularly regular in Sadhan to see results and to actually enjoy the growth- process.

6. How much one had read doesn’t count. A person who has practiced atleast one technique 1000 times is better off than a person who has read 1000 books or knows 1000 techniques of Self-healing.

How to develop all these qualities with simple techniques will be dealt with in the next post….till then take care, keep working on self and be benefited….

We have understood (at least partially – if not completely…) how these vikaras are actually blocking us from experiencing bliss, peace and abundance in our lives. We have understood why we are going where we don’t want to go in life and experiencing all that we don’t want in life. For example: pain. So let’s start by understanding how to go towards our goal.

Our way of thinking, doing things, wording our intentions, in fact everything about us has become so mechanical that we no longer do them consciously. The system has taken over these functions long back from us. It has become the operating system of our body, mind and intellect. So, the new way or the right way of thinking and feeling looks so difficult in spite of understanding it and change ourselves and thereby our situations in life. We are to wage a war against self – so pitiful and tiring too!

“आप काँटों से दामन बचाके चलते है,
हमने फूलों से ज़क्म खाए है।"

You talk of others but I’ve been always hurt by my OWN.

You save yourself from thorn but I’ve been hurt by the roses.

My own here means my own desire, body, mind and intellect. Yes. Since, it’s always easy to wage war against the world but against “our people” it’s next to impossible. So, we require few techniques to beat the MIND & EGO in it’s game.
