On bad days!

On bad days!

Some days are just well, not so good to talk about.

Today, listlessness seems to be “the emotion” one got up with!

Nothing to worry about. Nothing to feel bad about. Nothing much needs to be done about it. Let it be!  Yes, you got it right! Let it be!

Some days are meant to be so. It’s ok to get up feeling down, listless, hopeless, unhappy or angry or any such uncomfortable feelings or emotions.

Just remember, don’t be obsessed about being cheerful or happy.

Let’s feel ok to feel every emotion. Just don’t get carried away with it.

Don’t justify it. Don’t find reasons to validate it. Don’t find a ‘scapegoat’ to pin it on. Don’t assume someone is responsible for that emotion or feeling.

Just let it be!

Accept that it is also one of the emotions that can come and go. Don’t fight it. Just let it be. Smile and go about your day.

And then, then see the way the day has gone by – at the end of the day (by way of reviewing the entire day). You will be surprised to see the results.

Let’s do this exercise and then talk about that!

Ke sera sera!

Ke sera sera!

Just because we are not able to see the good in what is happening right now in our lives, it doesn’t mean it is bad for us.

Me, My guru – on looking within!

Me, My guru – on looking within!

“But Guruji, how can we forgive someone who has cheated us and failed us so many times? Don’t give me some story to support “forgiveness” this time, please. I feel if we let them get away then they will assume they are right and become more arrogant. I think they will keep doing wrong more than ever. What is punishment for?” I was more than frustrated today and asked my Guru these questions. They have been pending since forever. They were with many for long. But, every time she would give some story and tell, “Forgive”. But, not today!

“My job is not to find faults. My job is not to judge anyone. My job is not to taunt others and make them feel bad about their weaknesses, flaws and faults. I am not here to change people. My job is not to keep count of others’ wrongs. All that is “HIS” job and his purview.

My job is only to love, heal, care, show compassion, understanding, cheer when someone is making an effort to overcome some weakness. And with that ends my job. Not, tell me, where is there scope for anger, hatred, curse in my job?” said my Guru with a smile.

I was floored. It wasn’t easy being her!

It wasn’t easy being selfless and compassionate! But, she made it seem so effortless that it felt like even we could embrace those qualities. And that thought was enough for us to keep working on ourselves.

Maybe, that was the reason we kept coming back to her. Maybe, that was the reason we still were with her after all these years. It wasn’t for her. It was because coming here we still kept hope for our change to grow strong. I smiled. I nodded my head and thanked my God. For once there was sincerity in my “thank you”.

Today, I understood where and what to focus on! Today I understood where I had been going wrong. My suffering was not because of what was happening in my life. It was because of where my focus was. But now, I knew all I had to do was to focus on the wrong of self over others!

It is simple and yet so difficult! With her, it was the simple ones that were so very difficult – always!

read suggested:https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2017/05/ask-and-it-shall-be-given-me-my-guru_20.html

Questions addressed and points to understand:

  • When is it difficult to forgive?
  • How to see a situation so that the need to forgive doesn't arise?
  • Change of perception that can free us from hatred for others who have hurt us, cheated us, abused us and had been very selfish in our life...
  • We are not "judges". We are not here to run the world. We are not given power to hurt others or sentence others for their acts. We are as guilty as others in action and deed and word...
  • When we look at others' wrongs we want and talk about justice. We wish them to be sentenced for their wrongs.
  • But when our wrongs are counted we seek forgiveness and mercy. We plead Gurus, others and God to not curse us for our wrongs. We preach the importance of forgiveness to others.
  • If we want to be forgiven for our sins we should also forgive the sins of others.
  • Every wrong is addressed by karma. Let's not take it upon ourselves to hurt others in the name of justice.

On ill will and curses!

On ill will and curses!

मुद्दई लाख बुरा चाहे तो क्या होता है

वही होता हैं जो मंज़ूरे ख़ुदा होता हैं।

muddai lakh bura chahe tho kya hota hai

wohi hota hai jo manzoore khuda hota hai....

People may wish any number of bad for you, but it doesn't matter

for only that happens which is acceptable to God!

meaning,

It is the will of the Lord that over rides all the ills that the world thinks of .....

It means, we don't have to worry about the ill wish of the people of this world. If we are destined for good, it will happen even if the entire wishes bad for us. So relax, and not bother about what people say or wish for you......do good and good will come back to you....

Me, My Guru – on habit and ego!

Me, My Guru – on habit and ego!

“Guruji, I am not able to discipline myself. I have tried everything in the book and yet….Please guide me so that I am able to break any “habit of mine”. You always ask us to work on our habits and yet here I am as weak as my habit – as ever!” asked a student who I didn’t recognise. But, he seemed close to her. It was evident from the way he was talking to her and questioning her.

Our Guru looked at all of us and started the explanation “What is the hardest thing to break?

It is “Habit”.

Look at that word. The word itself has answers in it. Even if you break H from it, “a bit” still remains. From that, if you remove “a” then, “bit” remains.  Even if you remove “B” from “bit”, “it” still remains. And finally when you get to remove “t”, there is still the “I”. And that “I” is the root cause of all problems – yours and mine. Now the question is “are we ready to remove that “I”?

Start working on “I”. Break it – little by little. As it breaks, your old habits will drop down effortlessly and new ones and better ones will shine forth and before long you will be a new person with a set of ‘good habits’.”

Her answer seemed easy and hard. Easy to understand and hard to follow. It was such times I doubted if she was here to help us or confuse us. But, the student who came with a question simply prostrated before her and left with a smile. He seemed sure of the answer. He seemed satisfied with the answer. He seemed to get what he had come to seek.

Why her explanation evoked different responses from each of us is a question I couldn’t find an answer to till date….but that is for some other day….

Points to ponder and questions addressed:

  • Basis of habits is our nature.
  • Change in nature will change our habits and vice-versa.
  • Habits eventually become our character, which is our fate's basis.
  • Choose habits carefully.
  • To receive an answer we need to be open to an answer given. When the person is closed to receiving a solution, he will not get 'the answer' even when given 1000 times.
  • Our every question is answered. It's just that we don't think we received our answer because they don't want to hear 'that answer'.
  • Our every prayer is answered. Our every wish is fulfilled. It's just that there is time lag at times way beyond our senses.....

Small efforts make big changes possible!

Small efforts make big changes possible!

Raindrops may be little in shape and size but their continuous fall makes a river overflow. Never underestimate small consistent efforts. Remember, small consistent efforts have the power to make massive changes in life…

Maybe, your goal is huge. It is big and seems impossible to reach. Instead of seeing the size of your goal that needs to be achieved, break the goal into small viable and doable bits. Then work on each ‘doable bit’ one at a time. And before long, you would start seeing results. You’ll would find yourself closer to your goal than you would have assumed in that given time frame!

This is applicable to physical targets like – exercise, healthy changes, cleaning, doing any job etc….

Healing also can be broken to smaller targets that can be worked on…

Apply it in any area of you need and get back with your results…..to inspire others with your stories…..

First Milestones of 2023

First Milestone of 2023

2012 had the lowest number of posts for a year - just 59. As of today, we have crossed 63 already for this year. So, one thing is for sure, we won't have the lowest number of posts to date!!!

Kudos for that ...

The next target to beat would be 85 in the year 2011. You keep count of that no. and let me know when we cross that.......we'll celebrate that too......as of today, let's make some sweet dish tomorrow and savour it as a way to celebrate crossing the first milestone this year....

Similarly in life, we'll have huge targets. Good for us! But also, celebrate the little achievements, possessions, and moments. Don't forget them in the hurry to reach our goal....

# milestones, targets, celebrating life and its moments, life is lived in moments

not having time to go through all the posts in the above link - read any random post ....

Question time:

What are the milestones of last year that you have already crossed this year?

points to remeber:

  • Life is lived in moments
  • Have targets in life. Dream big but live NOW!
  • Celebrate all that you HAVE NOW as you work on what you don't have yet!
  • Journey need not be slowed down to celebrate little moments of life....

Reflections – On change and growth

Reflections – On change and growth

So, since it is a ‘compulsory question’ that we need to answer in life’s exams, it’s better we equip ourselves with ways to deal with it.

The body doesn’t need much training. A little change in dietary habits and a little exercise should do the trick – well, most of the time. It’s the mind we need to address!!!

So, bring out all your forgotten techniques and sharpen them. Put them to good use. Let’s heal by taking any one fear, dislike or so and start healing for 5 days from today. Use any technique as per the course you’ve done.

Then wait! Notice your way of dealing with a similar situation for the next 15 days. Get back with your experience.

May you outgrow your pain and fear – at least a small part of it for now!

Read the complete post of the above given link.....

Points to ponder:

  • When change is, life is. Where life is beauty is, growth is. Imagine being how you are, what you are for ever. Then you will have your children as they are, they will never grow. If you don't have children, then you never will, for you don't want change to happen in your life. Now, apply the same to every aspect of life and see how you wanting things to be as they are will have an impact on your life.....
  • Now the question is "Do you really don't want change not to happen?"

Questions to work on:

  • Now for some real homework - What are the changes you have found in yourselves - before and after Reiki? Was change pleasant? Was it beneficial at the end?

Reflections – On change and growth

Sit with at least one of them. Understand it. Do the required healing. Because, if you don’t heal your past, then even in the future you’ll end up suffering a similar situation again – may be more this time!!

As sadhaks, that doesn’t make sense. I should be able to handle a situation better this time when it pops up in my life. Let’s prepare for it by healing ourselves from our past impressions.

Let’s work on our weaknesses. Let’s gain strength. So that, when the situation demands we are more strong facing it now than then.

You may well ask “but why at all should it come maam?”

A good and fair question indeed! But these things just don’t go away because I am uncomfortable with them. No dear, it doesn’t happen that way. They keep coming back – again and again till we learn to deal with them right, till we outgrow the fear of facing them, and till we stop generating karma that creates such situations in the first place!

Points to ponder:

  • Change is inevitable. Suffering it or putting it to good use is the only option available to us!

Questions to work on:
  • What are the changes in life that I was uncomfortable with in the past?
  • How did those changes affect me and my life in the later years?
  • Does change bring only pain? How many times did change bring joy in my life?
  • What does impermanence mean to you?

Reflections – On change and growth

Reflections – On change and growth

The other day, one Reiki Channel from abroad called me. The weather there was around below 0 dg temperature. RC told me it would even go to -20 dg C. It was a bit confusing for me. How can an Indian who is used to 40dg temp cope with such low temperatures? But, when that RC explained it became clear to me. RC said “The first couple of weeks, of course, it was difficult – but with the right clothing it didn’t affect so much. Moreover, I was excited about the change, etc. In my second year, I was able to go about in normal clothing like the locals here even in 2 dg C. I am used to this cold now. It’s the ‘heat’ I am not able to bear. I realized that when I had to go to another part of this country which was way hotter than the place I live in, I realized how I am finding heat unbearable now!”

That was quite a revelation.

I found the same explanation from people who have come from North to South of India and vice-versa – always! So, our body does have capacity way beyond our ‘assumption’. It’s the mind that fears the facts, but the body, well it adapts to the new conditions pretty effortlessly. Those who let go of the processing, enjoy the change, it is not all that bad. They don’t suffer though everyone has to endure the effects of every change.

But the person who sticks to his preferences, choices, and tastes suffers a lot. His pain is way higher than it needs to be! He also suffers from the changing way longer than others. His complaints are more. His ‘good moments’ are less. And who is responsible for all this?

This not only applies to weather or climate but also to relationship status, physical comforts and needs, aging, change of job and its’ profile etc etc….take a moment and see which change frightens you the most. See which change affects you more? In the past, what were the incidents that affected you which involved a change of any kind?

Points to ponder:

  • Change is inevitable. It has to happen whether you like it or not. So instead of focusing on what can't be changed, think about what can be done with this change in life.
  • Change is inevitable, but growth is optional!

Questions to work on:
  • What is the change that is painful to me and why?
  • Is there something called as 'unchanging' in life?

Me, My Guru - On things that matter!

Me, My Guru - On things that matter!

“Guruji, I wish my situation in life to change for the better. I want peace” cried one among us.

And her reply was “People often make two mistakes in their search for inner peace…focusing on things that they can’t change and ignoring things they can”.

If the listener was ‘good enough’ this much was enough. If he is the one who doesn’t know to listen, then even years of shouting in his ears would serve no purpose – maybe it would even be turned to his (wrongful!!) advantage!

On fear of giving

On fear of giving

Did you know we have fear of giving too?

There are various shades to this fear. Did you know that most of us carry various shades of this fear with us and that depletes us of our joy and meaning of life?

Take a minute to look within and find the reason and cause of this fear. See if it is worth holding on to it. See its purpose. See how it affects you and your decisions in your life.

Trust me, if you are courageous enough to go within and find some disturbing answers, then it can relieve you of so much of pain and suffering in your life.

Enjoy the pleasure of giving. Once you taste it, you will realize how much ‘kick’ there is in giving – no power, no accumulation, no achievements, no win, just about anything and everything falls way short of the joy of giving. This heaven is yours for asking. Grab it!”
