Me, my Guru – Karna gives now!

Me, my Guru – Karna gives now!

Today, I didn’t have any questions in mind.
Others also seemed joyous. No one came with doubts. This was rare and it had its perks.

She came, sat down, adjusted her saree and began right away. She didn’t ask us anything. She didn’t verify with us about our queries, doubts or whatever.

She straightaway went to a story “Once a Brahmin knowing Pandavas to be generous, kind-hearted, helpful and noble went to them and sought their audience. They were having their lunch then – it being lunchtime. He pleaded Yudhistra asking him to give some daana (charity is the nearest word) to perform his daughter’s marriage.

It is considered ‘adharm’ (unethical) to give with the left hand
, and getting up while eating is equally sinful. Not wanting to commit these wrongs Yudhistra requested the Brahmin to come the next day at a better time.

Brahmin understanding of the reason left them sad. Not being able to wait for daana, he rushed to meet Karna. Karna was also eating when the Brahmin approached him and sought daana. Karna immediately took the necklace that he was wearing and gave it to the Brahmin with his left hand. He asked Brahmin if he wanted more. Brahmin was more than joyous. He said it was more than required, praised Karna for his generosity and left with a light and happy mind.

*Dharm actually means the ‘the eternal law’. Anything done against that would be considered ‘adharm’.
