fish and the lake

Second Perspective

Wiseman here represents the knowledge, tips, wisdom that this blog offers. (here I would like to ask as to why people religiously forward all messages in whatsapp and such social sites and yet don’t recommend /link the blog to others? Seriously ask yourself “what stops me from doing this and why this different treatment between both?”

Just as when wiseman gave an insight, tip, knowledge that could save their lives, fish just listened to him. Likewise are majority of readers who religiously read this blog but that’s it for them. They think they have done ‘great job’ by reading it religiously at the appointed time regularly.  They forget what they have read too equally fast. No, this is not bad. Atleast some reading is better than no reading. But what good is this reading? They are like tape-recorder just reciting shloka every day without knowing it, learning it, understanding it or benefitting from it. please don’t get me wrong and stop reading this blog. For the next atleast 4 hrs think about what you’ve read. That way you’ll benefit more.

Next set of people read and compliment on the language, story and style of expression. This is not show-business and the purpose is not to get kudos on this account. This biggest ‘good attitude’ that is a hurdle in person’s growth is ‘appreciation’ in kaliyuga. Yes, by complimenting or appreciating spiritual blogs, talks, views people think they have become good, done enough and secured some brownie points like ‘good karma.’

But, it is not so. 99% of people who appreciate stop there. The entire purpose of this blog and such spiritual talks goes to drains if and when people just appreciate it. Go beyond appreciation. These words are to be applied, understood, thought about, realized and to be made your nature. I am not saying don’t compliment – I need it too  - well, jokes apart on a serious note work on these thoughts, live them, breathe them, ingest them in your personality, thought and life.

All these types of people are represented by the 2nd and 3rd type of fish. Only a handful are the first type of fish – the action oriented and believers who put to practice all that I write – like ‘do let go meditation’, think for yourself on this topic, make a list of XYZ etc.

This people who practice all that I write about and hence get out of lake (called ego) which is drying up and moving into river – the higher conscious – ‘I am the soul’ and ‘I am the possibility’ perspective and belief and hence benefit accordingly.

So, I hope from today onwards you would go one step forward to let this blog benefit you, transform you and your life, help you to overcome the obstacles in your life and come out and shine forth and a better and more beautiful person.

Wishing you all well in this journey…….

fish and the lake

….contd….

Every season had its own purpose. Knowing that and doing exactly that is all it takes to make this life easier and joyful.

All this is good as to what we could’ve done during this silent period, but what has this story of fish to do with all this?”

Good question. Please understand this story atleast from two angles.

First perspective

Wiseman represents Guru, Universe giving some signs etc. we are ever getting message to get out of lake which is this ‘earthly dimension’. But only few like the first set of fish take ‘necessary action’ called sadhan to move into higher dimension represented here by the river.

The second set of people are those who at the end moment or very late in life regret their decision and seriously pursuing sadhan come out of earthly dimension. But the majority are the last category who are ever drunk in lethargy or laziness, arrogance, procrastination and lost in slumber who never take ‘right action’ at ‘right time’ and then keep envying others who have and suffer consequences of their attitude by dying – here it means being in the eternal cycle of birth and death in this earth.

And now I am sure you all know what you’ve got to do NOW!!!

Fish and the lake

….contd…..

Nature, God and everything is ever giving in abundance and it is only us unable to take it for lack of time. For eg: there is abundance of oxygen in the air and so is it’s requirement in our body and yet we don’t take time to do ‘pranayamam’ (breathing exercise) and don’t give body 15 mts for it’s maintenance and curse our fate when we fall sick or call God heartless – when we are responsible for our physical ailment.

Please apply it in various situations and “take corrective actions” immediately and benefit out of it.

2.Few of you read old posts and yet were burdened with the disappointment of not being able to read newer posts. Instead if you had remembered what you have read previously you would’ve realized that there’ll be dull periods also in life. Graph doesn’t go one way always. After every tide comes ebb. Not everything works out as per our desire. Things and Nature have their reasons and seasons we can only learn to flow with them if we desire to be happy. Elsewhere I have stressed the importance of accepting the situation for what it is. Also I always drive home the point of “don’t condition anything because that is the basis of all pains and sufferings”.

Yes, I remember many of you coming back to me saying it is difficult and all that. But, you could’ve used this opportunity to practice this “let go of conditioning” and “accept” things for what they are. If you had given it a thought, you would’ve realized how out of habit we start “expecting” from people and situations to behave in a certain fashion. And that never continues so for ever. And then we suffer, work on this “weakness” and you would be “free from pain”. Yes, you could have done this too!

Like-wise, you’ll face in life time when things don’t seem to move. You feel everything has come to standstill and whatever you do, still nothing happens or changes – yes it could also apply to sadhan. Even when in serious and regular sadhan, there comes a time when time seems to have frozen and nothing seems right or nothing looks bright or hopeful. Such long “silences” that I call them in life also can be used usefully if only we don’t see them with the expectant eyes and dreaming hearts. Just accept that this is “bland and one looong night when nothing happens” phase of life.  Since, nothing is favourable anyhow, be in sadhan more than ever and go slow in life – the same way life is flowing. Then, you wouldn’t suffer so much. Infact, since you had played well, you would come more matured, more energetic (since you had been in sadhan), more balanced and content too surprisingly. You realize how little you actually need to survive and once you know that accept that and realize that you become “free” in a good way. Use these ‘silent periods’ to do all such of works you’ve postponed doing like spending time with family and kids, learning or /doing something that you always wanted to. Yes it’s time to take out that bucket-list and see what you can complete doing from that list.

Fish and the lake

…contd….

But the lazy ones who did not head to the wise man’s sayings at the start or even now to their friends warnings were caught either in fisherman’s net or died due to lake drying up faster and they not having water enough to swim from lake to river.

This is a very dear story to me from one of the Upanishads.

Let’s for now skip your classic question “maam, why are you not writing maam?” or “maam, why are you silent? We miss your blog…” etc….

What I do, don’t do is totally immaterial in your lfie. What matters – or only thing that matters is “what YOU are doing with what you read in the blog?”

And “what you did during this ‘no-post’ session?”

1.Many of you stopped coming to blog and decided to come only when I start writing again. How said is that!

How many times, you have come back saying, “I read your previous post (sometimes as old as 6-7 years back) and I got so many of my questions answered. Wonder why I don’t remember reading it before”

Or “I read a post dt. 5-6 years back again but now I found it so moving and profound. Wonder why I didn’t understand it so then. I missed out on this perception for the last 5-6 years and feel bad as I had with me for 5-6 years and yet I couldn’t benefit from it. I should read the old blogs more often.”

Such comments I’ve received so many times and yet it is not practiced later. Many of you give an excuse of not having time to read blog – agreed you have lots of avocations and are very busy and tired too at the end of the day. But just give it a thought. To read it hardly takes 5-10 mtsfor you and I need to take 2-3 hr minimum to give you one post.  Why should I take so much time to give you that? Just imagine!

After the long silence

Fish and the lake

Once upon a time, not very long ago in a certain village was a huge lake filled with plenty of fish. One wise man who was journeying through the villages came to rest near the lake for couple of days. On the day, he was leaving the village he as usual took his bath in the lake and when he finished taking his bath called forth fish of the lake and said “leave the lake immediately as this lake will dry up after this season.  You all will perish then. So, make haste and leave to the river that this lake flows into.”  Having said this, he left the village and continued with this journey.

Now the fish who listened to what he said were both shocked and frightened at the start. But after couple of days only very few fish – just a handful of them decided to leave the lake as the wise man suggested. They shared their decision with other fish and asked them to come along with them.  Most of others laughed at their fear and called them names. And few others though agreed it was right to leave felt they could wait for some more time before taking that step.  These fish left the lake with a heavy heart and reached the river in time and continued to live there happily.

Few months passed and the sun was at his brilliance best and the heat caused the water of lake to evaporate more than usual and the lake showed up land here and there.  Fishermen came in large numbers to fish in these shallow waters. Few fish who remembered the wise-man’s sayings immediately started swimming towards the river and as they were leaving were also calling out to their friends to warn of the impeding danger. They too reached the river safely and lived there for long time to come.
