Reiki retreat!

This was a (I don't know what it was) suggestion/request/ idea worth implementing made by one of you....

"......  It's about reiki retreat just like a yoga retreat.
A place were people come for a week or so and do Reiki. A 7 day schedule can be fixed. Discourse , yoga , hands on reiki , different types of techniques, meditation etc can be included in it.
Mam is this concept of reiki  retreat possible?  Can we have something like this????...."

Want feedback on the same...want to know how others feel and what you all want (or most/some of you want).....please explain/ give answer clearly - not just yes. If yes suggest how you want that to be as and also why you want it in the first place...because we can't conduct one if we don't know the purpose behind such a retreat...and if the answer is no, well no need to explain anything there..it would be self explanatory....

also tell me what this 'yoga retreat' is about? what do they do there? how do they go about? and why is it conducted?

What birds teach us - Me, My Guru

What birds teach us?

Me, My Guru

What is seen as ‘old-age homes’ is not bad if it is properly understood and applied. If children out of greed and selfishness push parents out of the house after usurping all their earnings, then it’s their bad karma and that is ‘Adharma’. But parents if (and they should by the way)understand and apply this time and opportunity to live within the means and in study of self and scriptures – away from the familial circles – nothing like it! It may sound harsh. But think when you want to pursue your spiritual need seriously, if not atleast after 60 years. Learn to ‘let go’ from birds. Only a person who knows when to ‘let go’ can be peaceful and happy”.

We had our much need tea break! God, that last one was a sixer. Most of us wanted our parents to listen to it and apply but following it personally – that seemed too demanding and far stretched. It looked good on paper but to apply it, well, we weren’t sure! Like many of her words we chose to ‘hear’ her words and not follow it later.

Later during our discussion, we decided we would take it slow and work on the first stage of ‘letting go’ with regards to kids. We would bring them up with utmost care, love and affection sharing the principles that we wish to look up to (yes, we look up to and not one that we lived, because it was easier to give them ‘right’ Ideals rather than be one. But just because we couldn’t live up to our principles, doesn’t mean we don’t pass it on to them. Who knows maybe they can raise their standards to our set principles). But all the while working on our
‘attachment’ to our expectations, hopes and conditions on them so that when they are ready to leave our ‘nests’ of love and support, we are able to ‘let go’ without any feeling of remorse, anger, hurt, disappointment, complaint and depression. Yes, we could do that right from today especially since we had our Reiki techniques to fall back on. This decision seemed to take a huge burden from our head. We were pleasantly glad with ourselves. We had a workable and achievable plan and action. We felt arrived! We seemed to have done work of a decade with just that decision. We deserved one more round of tea for certain. We left her place in peace. She really must be glad to have us as her students...we guessed – nay, I did......

What birds teach - Me, My Guru

Contd........

What birds teach us?

Me, My Guru

Birds and Bhagawat Gita – wow! Now that’s something I could never have come up with. But then that’s why I was here and she was what she was – a Guru! Many of us had knowledge – atleast theoretical in most of these worldly subjects that she quoted. But her words gained more weightage and depth because she could connect them. We read, saw and understood each topic topically but she was always connecting them and bringing about a connectivity. And the application part – wow simply superb! Maybe that’s what spiritual outlook is all about!

“Inspite of caring so deeply and 24/7 when ‘the time’ comes they just push their young ones out of nest. They teach them to be self-reliant and let them be too! They don’t use them as their ‘old age card’. That is ‘love’. To give all of oneself till the other needs and to send him out into the world to embrace life and its lessons with its experiences without thinking of self – that really is love and that love is lived and practiced by birds only!

Hinduism looks at every aspect of life and living and hence the code of living or Dharma as it is called as framed keeping in mind such factors. Hindu is to lead a materialistic life as a ‘Grihastha’ – house-holder from his 25th to 60th year only. Then he is to transfer all the responsibility of his family to his able sons and if wife willing take her along or otherwise go alone on ‘vanaprastha ashram’ – the life of living as a ‘ashramite’ – not in ashrams as of today's – with TVs, A/cs and loud-speakers. No! A place – a habitat in a forest which was inhabited by the ‘seers’ or Rishis and living only on natural foods and on minimum sustenance and instead of ‘passing time’ – after retirement, using it completely to the study of scriptures and self following various techniques of self-restraint. This way the age where physical abilities were getting weak, mental abilities was used to optimum by minimising the physical activities. This can be easily done when one used less of one’s energy for running from family function to another.

What birds teach us - Me, My Guru

Contd..........

What birds teach us?

Me, My Guru

“Just look at the way these birds build their nest. They use all things termed ‘waste’ and ‘useless’ and construct their homes. No way have they harmed environment to build their homes. They don’t go against nature. How thoughtful of them! Have you ever heard every of bird creating pollution because of its construction activity? And we? The less said the better. Their life epitomises ‘zero waste’ living and we?

Just look at the way they raise their young. They both center their lives on ‘the young’ all through. They go in search of food again and again to feed the young ones. The amount of food that they carry in their mouth is so little and so they need to go so many times. Yet, they do it with so much of commitment. No boredom, tiredness or need for break stops them. Learn to love so from them. The way mother bird stays at nest to hatch them and then protect them with no TV or Whatsapp to entertain it. Yet, it never complains. It never says ‘I lost my career because of these kids. I sacrificed my job for them’. The birds just play their roles to the ‘T’ without any show-off or showing any tantrum. They don’t post their good parents and happy family photos on FB. They don’t need certification from others about being ‘good parents’. They just ‘are’. If this is not unconditional love, what is?

If this not parenting is all about, what is?

If this is not being in the moment, what is?

Is this not about ‘doing your duty and leaving the rest to me’ quote of Krishna from Bhagawat Gita?

What birds teach us?

Freedom demands courage to take responsibility and only the brave embrace responsibility wholeheartedly and hence they deserve and enjoy freedom. But most of us feel freedom means ‘freedom from – work, being answerable, taking responsibility and someone out there ready to fulfill our every wish – said and unsaid at the drop of a hat even without raising a finger’.

“With greater freedom comes greater responsibility”. If only we knew this – and the minute we know it, we start crying. Complaining, hating the person who is not living up to our demands and expectations! And we are sorry for ourselves! We are cursed by our insecurities and laziness to a life of bondage. No one denies us freedom. Our attitude and actions drive it away from our lives” she concluded.

Few of the students surrounded her and we were left alone with our thoughts. How often I had complained about not being ‘given freedom’ when I actually shunned responsibility completely! I wanted the ‘rights’ that came with freedom but the duties part seemed ‘atrocious and demeaning’ to me. It felt like a punishment. I loved coming home late and being answerable to none and always looked forward to staying alone. It also meant I didn’t have to share my ‘earnings’ with others called ‘family’. The financial freedom of that sort was so welcome. I hated having to earn for others at home. But it also meant I had to take care of little nothings like ‘the daily chores’ all by myself and I hated it. It was too over whelming.

Because I myself was not clear as to what I wanted of life, it always went for a ride. Now I knew where the problem was. I had to address my ‘desire’ completely and get to understand it clearly. Only then its materialization would give me fulfillment.

What birds teach us? Me, My Guru

What birds teach us? Me, My Guru

“Siberian cranes travel such long distances and for so long periods and yet – yet they are never late. They reach the ‘places’ of their habitat on time. They don’t have bio-metric punching machines, shouting bosses, nagging MIL’s, demanding spouse or strict Guru to point out that they are ‘late’ – yet they are on time” she was talking about cranes but I felt that was a jibe at me. Yes, I was late as usual. I really tried hard and yet I don’t know why I end up being late – even today! I simply went and sat silently, joining others. Suddenly I felt strong hatred for these cranes. Why did they have to migrate and that too so religiously every year – same time? Their nature was responsible for me to get mocked at today. I didn’t like them. Nice that they had to do so much of work.... I was still cursing them mentally as our Guru continued her explanation in physical world “We relate
freedom with birds. And always say ‘wish I was a bird, want to be free like a bird’. But have we ever looked at birds’ life closely. With its freedom comes greater responsibility of being ‘self-reliant’. It has to work for food every single day – be it rain or sunshine. It has no Sundays in its calendar and any festival or casual holidays. No vacationing too for it. It has to work every single day otherwise it and its family goes hungry and it can’t afford it as it can’t go to doctor and get vitamin tablets later”.

We all laughed. That scene was worth imagining. It was true. Since they didn’t have concept of ‘fridge’ or ‘bank’ they couldn’t save for the rainy day, so that later on a rainy day they could sit relax and enjoy mirchi bajji (favourite hot snack in India) with tea while listening to music. They never even know that such a luxury exists and yet – and yet we envied them. They were workaholics out of compulsion and yet never seemed sad or complained. They were fearless of tomorrow. We could come up with so many of points when she continued “They live each day. They never plan for tomorrow. They live for now and here. And that was the reason for the ‘energy’ of peace and freedom that they radiated.

on financial healing and abundance....

Everything is already taught in I and II degree class - both the causes and the ways to heal it...yet.......still I have written a lot on all of the subjects related to material well being and problems so many times...

but if you are lazy and can't look up to old blogs and always want me to look up to old blogs and give links too, then I am sorry to say it talks about very bad attitude - a very lazy one which is hidden behind the 'i am so poor, help me' veil....

Reiki is not for people who want to feel sorry, self pity, want others to take charge of their lives, or who want others to solve their problems.......this path is only for such of people who have had enough of depending on others (already explained in Guruji's story in I degree) and want to re-write their fate their way by way of 'sadhan' and Reiki is the way to do it....it gives various techniques and outlook to change that would help one gain his potential to the maximum........

no, i am not angry but just tired - mentally of facing this attitude since so long......

those who fall on some 'baba's' feet placing the money and ask him favours to overcome the issues of their lives - well, no point of being a Reiki Channel (or even a Reiki Master ) for that matter.  No doubt such people are not able to do justice to being a Reiki Master too.....

others buck up, take charge of your life...it may take time to heal the situation you are in so what? How long you want to be a beggar going from one 'door' to the other? Depend on regular healing - remember all that you have achieved with healing till date. If you could do it then, you can do it now too...it took time to fulfill your previous wishes, you had patience then - then why not now? Be patient! Keep working on self - don't throw yourself at anyone's feet - You are lions - Divine souls capable of creating worlds of your own. Realize that and reclaim that potential of yours...it's all possible with your regular sadhan......just let time take its course.....

and stop crying.........

Instead of getting angry at ‘what shouldn’t happen’ channelize your energies on ‘living Hinduism’. What’s the use of talking Hinduism if I am not following it? It is not able doing some mundane daily rituals like listening to some mantra, doing harathi or performing some pooja or festival. Live the ‘Ideal’ of Hinduism - that of character building. Only goal of Hinduism is ‘self realization’. If it can’t be pursued for various reasons then walk on its path by working on gaining such of qualities that prove that we are descendants of ‘some sage’ of great ‘Tejas’. We don’t own our lineage or connect with some prophet or a leader. We owe it to a sage who is realized and exhibits various powers that ‘self-constraint’ confers on to its practitioner.

Be an example that people can’t brush aside but notice, and then Hinduism will shine on its own. One Vivekananda is enough to shake entire western world. But he was no ordinary man, “his was a character built over years of practice and grace of his Guru”. Let’s be custodians of such exemplary character.

Regarding protecting Hinduism – well, it has in-built protective shield to shield itself from people who don’t deserve it – said various times in various Upanishads and Vedas. So, be rest assured, the higher knowledge knows to protect itself from ‘asuric forces’. Its custodian is God Himself. It doesn’t need mortals like you and me to protect it and hence we need not feel bad about it too.....

Whenever evil forces become more rampant, He sees to it that they are annihilated en-masse by various means and the pure and innocent are protected. Look into history for its proof. Once this issue is viewed thus, I think pain, anger, depression don’t happen as understanding takes over. And now I am only going ‘Inwards’ – the right and ultimate journey worth making – made only in ‘Hinduism’. While all religions talk of subjugating the external world, Hinduism goes to the root cause – the mind and beyond. It gives step by step procedure to befriend, train and then transcend mind to experience the expansiveness of our ‘Reality’ – ‘The soul’ – that which we actually are!

Let’s do that needful and leave the rest to the unruly kids to go about doing for a while........

on religion....

Contd…….

Next when his character develops empathy, compassion and viveka (power of discrimination) he looks at the concepts of religions. Here, he stops looking at followers and their conduct. He studies only the concepts and finds the similarity of various concepts in all religions. Here he is unifying various religions under the head of ‘concept’.

When his growth expands and he enters ‘intuitive zone’ of understanding, he steps into spiritual realms of ‘Reality’ where his various experiences and understanding that comes with knowing (this knowing cannot be had through books or discourses, but only through meditation) gives him power to love – love beyond boundaries and as it expands and encompasses all, it gradually breaks one boundary of understanding after the other. Here the expanse of his understanding increases as he looks at others more as ‘souls’ than as individuals with body and its attachments ( viz. Name, case, nationality, sex, religion etc).

This is the first step in his journey of finding that ‘oneness’ among the ‘All that is’ and here he no more bothers for what religion you follow for he has experienced that each religion is just a step or a stage that is required in the journey of the soul.

He is sympathetic towards all and their flaws, frails and mistakes because he knows they are required to reach where he is now. He hates none!

Does it mean I don’t do anything seeing all this wrong happening?

Ofcourse you do need to do a lot. But worry and getting anger are not in that list. As already explained if I hate Muslim, I am born as one. (Read Brian Weiss’s Many Lives, Many Maters). You become the object of your dislike or love as the case may be. Remember all asuras merging into Vishnu because they kept hating him all through.

Even scientifically it’s been proved by west. One white woman gave birth to a black boy and her husband (white) sued her. She had paternity test done and the DNA matched. Doctors were stunned. Then they found that that lady had a photo of a black man in her room regularly during her pregnancy period. So, it was proved that whatever a person thinks of regularly and repeatedly becomes that. Read story of Jada Bharath in my blog.

Why does this happen and whose fault is it?

If you look at the larger picture, may be nobody is at fault.

Why it happens – every soul reincarnates in a certain circumstance to learn and unlearn some quality – say love and hatred. Depending upon its past karma, it is given few choices to make while choosing a life that it wishes to lead. This life has circumstances that are conducive to the growth of ‘that particular soul’. But whether that soul makes right choices or not once it incarnates is questionable. It may or may not. If it makes wrong choices, again it is counseled by higher energies after death and again given a set condition where it can learn its lesson right this time. This continues till it has learnt its lesson right. This is one school where you can’t choose not to learn ‘something’ out of choice. Every lesson is a must.

So if I spend this life hating a Jew, I would be born as one next life and vice-versa till I understand that all are basically one – both in terms of matter (made up of five basic elements), emotions (have same as that of lust, anger, greed, ego, envy and jealousy) and even in spirit we are one!

But before this understanding we suffer various stages of differentiation.

So you see a person who is barbaric, converting others either through force or bribery or a fanatic assuming only the form that pleases him is ‘God’ and all other forms are wrong belong to ‘souls’ who are in this journey as already explained earlier. They are at the lower stage on spiritual path.

Imagine spiritual growth to be a ladder where at the lowest is that person who finds ‘differentiation’ at its peak as he looks only at the physicality of religions i.e., the rituals language etc of the religion.
When the soul grows in character of openness and gives emphasis on the mental aspect, then he looks at the mental aspect of the religion. He understand the whys and how’s of various rituals of questioning with openness and not with cynicism and becomes more aware that rituals of various paths have same purpose  then he respects a ritual for its purpose and doesn’t judge it for how it is done.

Now coming to Hinduism :

Do you see any of these ‘acts’ or ‘thoughts’ in Hinduism?

Remember the story of Hiranyakashyap and Prahlad. Prahlad was tortured and sent to death by his own father inspite of being his only child. Why? Because Prahlad did not accept his father to be God and believed in God in the form of Vishnu.

Next, let’s take case of Ravana. He was ‘Greatest of Shiva Bhaktha’ but did not respect/recognise Vishnu even as God. Result – he hated Vishnu and gave trouble to all his devotees. End – he met his death in the hands of a mortal Prince and his army of monkeys and bears.

Both represent the same nature of barbarism where a person assumes it his right to kill the other who doesn’t follow his faith.

“But they were asuras”. Right! They were asuras and hence their nature is justified by their act. Asura is not ‘a Hindu’. Asura is a person who has very little spectrum of perception with regards to issues especially of religion and ethics. For him might is right. And he believes in subjugating people, plundering looting people, bringing about chaos, destruction wherever he goes. Asura is one whose definition of happiness is “What I benefit is of no importance to me. It is enough if it hurts or harms you”. If this is the principle that governs a person he is called an ‘asura’ and they didn’t vanish after ‘Treta Yuga’. They are just as normal as you and me. Whenever I revel in sadistic pleasure, asura in me raises and each time I live and sacrifice for the other, I sympathise with the other I let the ‘divine’ in me express himself. Now a person who lets his ‘demonic’ nature act and express itself number of times, becomes an epitome of asuric qualities over the period of time. The religion just helps him to express that nature of him without feeling guilty of his act or intention or in other words, he uses religion to express his nature.

Christianity : This is little older and is 2000 years old and in actuality isn’t a religion on its own just as Islam. Jesus himself was a Jew just as Buddha and Mahaveera were Hindu Kshatriya Princes. Jesus revolted against rituals followed in the churches by Jewish Rabbi and questioned them on the purity of their intent. He said mere physicality wasn’t enough of a prayer but one needed to surrender one’s will completely to God to drink of His Grace and become His vehicle and thereby inherit the kingdom of God.

Can’t you see the similarity here again of all these principles with ‘Bhakthi Philosophy’ of Hinduism? It is!  That is because Jesus vanished from Jerusalem at around his 14th year and returned only after his 30th year of age. The missing period of his life is never discussed or sought after by ‘blindly believing Christians’. It is found in Tibetan Monastery of India in Himalayas (in the manuscript 2000yrs old) that Jesus did come here and studied Vedic philosophy, various meditation techniques, practiced them and left when he became ‘Enlightened’. That’s why he could say ‘forgive them for they know not what they do’ of his oppressors who were nailing him to death on the cross. No where he talks about conversion – but only of believing in the God and the path where in one developed qualities of compassion, mercy, forgiveness, treating all as self (treat thy neighbour as you would want to be treated) as such of qualities.

Treating all as self is the ‘concept of non-duality’ of Hinduism. So, he never taught killing. Yet all the genocide of Jews happened in the name of Jesus. He preached right. The followers were at fault. They couldn’t love enough. They killed ‘the embodiment of love on cross’ and once done with him, they had to divert the hatred within themselves somewhere and so they used it in the name of their religion to slaughter all whom they thought were inferior to them.

But if you look into mystics in this religion, say St.Francis of Assisi or St.Theresa – their spiritual ecstasy, experiences, way of life and sayings correlate with mystics of any other religion.

on Religions

I am just giving part of the conversation which had the following concern:

"I have no issues with other religions but I am really bothered about following and always voice my concern :

1. Conversions to Christianity
2. Conversions to Islam
3. Conversions to any other religion and even within Hinduism conversion to a certain cult from the other cult....

When I replied to this question I thought this question was something that many had  and have and thought it good to address it to all now...since I felt you too are ready to receive this answer......may be I have said a 'lot' in 'too little words' that may seem 'little difficult to understand'...if you find it so...please ask and get it clarified instead of assuming something which I didn't mean...again let me clarify I will not repeat what is told in Karuna and other higher degree classes...what is not usually told in all classes (I mean what is not the usual syllabi of any of higher degree) only that part I will explain here....

On conversions to other Religions and Vaishnavism

Let’s look at Islam : It’s youngest of religions dating just
1200yrs and its origin is traced to its prophet – Mohammed. When you try to judge or understand a religion, it is imperative that you look into its origin geographically too! it started in ‘Arab world’ – a world of nomadic tribes with their barbaric views and way of living. A man who becomes ‘Messiah’ of such a group can give a religion that fits their life-style and helps them in pursue of their endeavour and ideologies only. These people knew not mercy, love, compassion or forgiveness. Their religion was to loot, plunder, subjugate and to cater to their base instincts. From this background, came a religion which gave a code of
do’s and don’ts to be blindly followed by its followers. This was so suited for those tribes who were not ‘thinking men’. ( I am not going into the details of this religion, its start etc assuming you know about it). Then what is surprising to observe that one of their ‘religious rules’ is to kill everyone who is not a ‘Muslim’. And to give it a religious touch to this barbaric act was a word attributed which made this ‘mass killing’ dear to their God – Allah’ and thereby sanctioned them direct entry to heaven.

This being fact did all Muslims follow this path?

Few mystics who were influenced with Vedic philosophy saw a different meaning to the same words that Islam stood for. For eg: ‘Allah is the Only God’ – Allah-o-Akbar.

If Allah be the only God then he created whole of humanity and no father would want one child to kill the other. This, these mystics realized by going within and ‘Realizing self’ which is the basis of Vedic philosophy and then out of sheer ecstasy these mystics danced singing ‘tu hi tu hai harsoo’ meaning you are everywhere. Every sufi poet saint be it Rumi, Amir Khusrou, Baba bulleshah and others talked about “He being everything and permeating everything. There is none other than Him”. This is the ‘ultimate Truth of Vedic and Advaitic Philosophy’ which was lived, taught, experienced thousands of years before Mohammed was born or for that matter Islam was conceived or revelation happened to Mohammed. And yet............

now that's the thought that needs to be addressed if all we want is to live the life the way we want to..........

Sunday, August 13, 2017

On judging others!

The problem with judgement is we judge others based on what we can do and can't do, on what we are and we are not....

we don't judge others for what they are....

we don't know to judge others and hence come to wrong conclusion and based on that wrong conclusion take decision and that end up being wrong......

so simply....stop judging.....keep things simple........and live peacefully ....

On healing and happiness!

At the end of the day, the entire healing process and procedures boil down to just this - removal of 'I' and 'Want - the desire'.

The day we realize this, accept this and smile, we realize we are....then we stop trying to do or become something to be happy, contended, successful et like....

then all we do is

JUST BE!

On Healing

On Healing - its need and techniques

Contd..........

Abilities you need to develop are:

1.The entire essence of Vedas can be summed up in two words “See, Listen”

2.Be still and know I am God!
   Just Be!

3.Just Drop!

4.Faith and patience!

5.Discipline.

Attitudes that you need to drop completely and develop without fail are:

1.Stop judging

2.Stop justifying

3.Fear is the greatest and the mother of all sins

4.Heights of stupidity – not having life-style, habits and food tastes that are good for healthy body.

5.only thing worth developing right from school – CONCENTRATION. Your level of concentration decides your ease of work and levels of success in any field you choose!

6.practice Silence!
Both physical and mental...

7.Cheerfulness

(I’ve written multiple posts to just stress the importance of all the above abilities and attitudes and way to work on them. As I’ve explained most of these topics umpteen times, I did not venture to explain much about them and hence presume them to be clear. If not, please seek clarification)

Sorry dear, you wanted ‘one word answer’ and I give you essay answer. But at lower stages of spiritual journey when we are blown at will by our mind, we need as many remainders and techniques to be on the track. But be relaxed it is not so throughout the journey. It is similar to a pyramid. It keeps reducing as agitation of mind reduces and ultimately it narrows down to ‘Meditation’ or ‘Look within’. But at lower levels what with so much pain, anger and confusion only meditation can not give results what all these put together give! (But then even in meditation, the techniques are many depending upon the need of the hour and the purpose for which it is done. May be sometime in future I may take class to teach various methods of meditation - different levels. And no it is not for people who are interested in gaining something of this world. That class would be ONLY useful to those who are interested in losing what they have, not in gaining anything more. And since that type of people would be bit rare to come across, so..........)

When external forces don’t or hardly have any effect on our psyche then ONLY ‘Meditate’ will do. But then even that is only a technique not the end by itself. Ultimately, soul has to outgrow even this stage, drops even this technique when he ‘Realizes Self’ and becomes ‘One with All That Is’. Then as he becomes one with all, what is that he has to heal, what is to know and what is to achieve?

Then this journey ends........and the next level journey starts......

Concluded............
