Indian Mythology - Shiva and Parvathi - Me, My Guru

(Daksha Prajapathi's yagna where sati immolates herself)

Contd....

Here, I’ll cut short the story and zoom to last part of it when Sati is married to Shiva after lots of hurdles. But she gets angry when ‘her’ father ‘Dhaksha prajapathi’ insults Her other half (note, it is other half not better half) in the council of Gods during performance of homam. So, she decides to immolate herself because she feels the body got through Daksha Prajapathi doesn’t deserve to be alive!

And they are separated with each other again!

Even before marriage, ‘She’ had to do immense penance to become eligible enough to be wife of Shiva. You may ask ‘She already is His wife, then why should she prove Her eligibility?’ Your  question is right if that was the case. This situation and leela is understood usually so by one and all! But it is not to ‘prove Her Eligibility but to ‘gain her eligibility’. So you see, even if you are destined to receive something, you need to work for it, earn it, prove your worthiness to have it and become eligible to receive it. And once you have worked your part, all that you can do is waiting for the right time to receive it.

Waqt se pehle, kismet se zyaada kabhi kisi ko nahin miltha.........
 वक़्त से पहले किस्मत से ज़्यादा कभी किसी को नहीं मिलता।
you never get anything before 'your' time and more than what you are destined for....

Coming to Sati, as a mortal she forgot ‘Her real Self’ and just out of ‘Her nature’ was compelled to Love Her Husband – Lord Shiva. But she was ignorant of the fact as to the reason behind it. So, it was needed that She remembers it all to lead the life that they do! And there is only one path to regain one’s memory of one’s Divinity i.e., intense penance and tapas. It is not to become or gain any power – just to realize who ‘She was!’.

The same applies to each one of us. If Mother has to do penance to ‘remember’, you and I have but no choice! So sit in meditation and ‘realize self’. That is what is called as ‘Self realization’. Know who you are!

Hi,

When I read the following lines of post of Thursday, January 19, 2017...

***************************
So, Brahma sought Her to request her to come back into Lord Shiva’s life. She agreed to take a form and hence Brahma asked his son Daksha Prajapathi to do penance to seek favour from Mother. He did and ‘She’ pleased with his penance gave him boon ‘I’ll be born as your daughter.
***************************

I was wondering about the quality of integrity that Gods have! Highest is very small word to be used in this situation.. I mean we all know that God is truthful and would never take the wrong/short path, yes we all have that faith.. but in a situation where Lord of all Lords God Shiva was pinned by pain of separation, all gods and demi gods missed maa... still there wasn't a scope to return immediately.. Process has to be followed irrespective of situation...

Even after Lord Brahma spoke to maa , still Daksha Prajapathi had to do penance and then please her ..etc... follows...

If I have to assess & give marks to my best friend or relative or person whom I loved most , out of 10 times I would have considered and given more marks at least for once under pressure or for the sake of my love/relationship etc..

But nothing of such sort happens here!

Just as mam has written in this post:

We all should be very thankful to God that atleast in this matter we do not have a choice... Yes having a choice is not always good because confusion, dilema etc stem from them..Be it buying a trouser or choosing a course/career ..everywhere we have choices and its tail Mr. Confusion..

and we again cry for clarity!

who else knows better than us about clarity? Lol.. I mean mam keeps talking in almost ever class so much about clarity of thought..
