Have your desserts for lunch and never for dinner. And don’t have ice-cream + sweets + cakes or pastry items in a single day. If you have ice-cream skip sweet that day and vice-versa. And preferably have your sweet at the start of your lunch than at the end. It gets digested fast and less of it gets converted to fat. (That doesn’t mean you have bowl full of rasagullas! (Indian sweet))




Cut down on junk food – both desi and others.


If you have samosa, chaat etc then skip going for regular meals – instead take fruits only for dinner. So it is not about starving but eating right and only as much as needed – not as much as I ‘want’. That ‘want’ will never end so cut that out. Understand you are responsible for your body. You owe your body good food habits and right amount of exercise. You can ‘enjoy’ even eating only as long as you are healthy. If you abuse it at this rate, then you’ll be forced to give up on food – forcefully by the nature or body itself will start rejecting it. Its better you call the shots in this zone. And unfortunately this is the ‘only body’ you have in which you have to live ‘this life’. So treat it with care and respect for your own sweet sake. You are to bear consequences of your ‘food choices’ sooner or later!


The next reason for obesity and over weight is ‘harmonal imbalance’ and the usual culprit is ‘thyroid’ gland here. This has to be ruled out with the related tests and proper medication. If it is at the start then it can be healed with medicines for some time under ‘good doctor’. Usually Doctor’s say medicines have to be taken for life. Take 2nd, 3rd, opinion to pick a Doctor who suggests that you take for few days and the possibility of not having to take it later. Ayurveda and homeo have excellent cure for this.


For the above two reasons i.e., over eating and hormonal imbalance, yogasans combined with pranayama gives long term and lasting results. Nothing like physical activity, exercise and yoga! Any intense activity like jogging, swimming, dance, martial arts etc will not only aid you in reducing weight, but also give to an excuse to learn and do something new. They sculpt the body the right way over the period of time. There are special massages in Ayurveda which deal with these problems but they are complementary only...don’t think that by just going to massage you can reduce weight the easy way....
