Me, My guru – Little Patridges and the mighty Ocean – Bhagavatham!

Very soon all the birds were doing just this job of filling the Mighty Ocean with rocks. Each carried a rock that it was capable of and started dumping it into the Ocean. This whole commotion was noticed by the King of birds – Garuda. After hearing the story of the Patridge couple, he felt it was his duty as their king to help them. So, he started getting the huge mountains, since he could and started filling the Mighty Ocean with it.

Garuda is the vahana (vehicle / mode of transport) for the Lord Vishnu. So, when Lord Vishnu had to go somewhere, he searched for his vahana. But, he did not find Garuda which was very surprising for it never happened so. So, Lord asked Garuda’s whereabouts. Lord was told that Garuda had gone to fill the Mighty Ocean with mountains.

Now, Lord Vishnu became curious and came to see what Garuda was up to. Looking at all the birds filling the Mighty Ocean with sand and rocks of varying sizes, he sought to find the reason for the same. Garuda took the Lord to the Patridge couple. They narrated their woe and resolve to him.

The Lord smiled and asked all the birds the stop their wok for sometime. They did as told – who wouldn’t when the Lord himself asked one to??!!

Now, Vishnu approached Mighty Ocean and asked him to return the eggs of Patridge Couple to them. The Mighty Ocean said, “But, I don’t know where they are”.

The Lord being omnipresent replied, “The eggs are in your ocean bed. Go and get them”.
