on being successful!

What is the usual definition of being ‘successful’?

It is ‘materialistic benefit or rewards’ that one gets and which is not at normal level – i.e., if one  has 2 or 3bhk he is not considered successful. One who has ‘bungalow’ or an independant house only is rich and successful – so on and so forth with all other assets.

In such cases when they say “What’s the use of XY talent as you are not successful?” they mean “You didn’t encash your talent by way of name, fame and riches”.

Here we can understand why and where from they come when they say so. Usually these people are envious of the other, have inferiority complex because of lack of such talents in themselves, are full of self-pity, anger, frustration, laziness, hatred and such attitudes (may be just one or few of them) and hence can only give vent to ‘hurtful’ words on others.

Here ‘Raju gari china bharya andanga vundi’ holds good – that means ‘king’s second wife is beautiful’. It just means ‘she is beautiful’. It doesn’t mean the elder one is ugly. This inference that we jump to is the cause of all our pains and sufferings in such cases. If someone is good at something, it just means ‘they are good at it’ – it doesn’t reflect who I am or doesn’t mock me for not having that ability. We need to understand this completely to apply it in every area to become free from such inferences and their related pain. Be aware of such inference (that we make and hence suffer) from today and cut it off once you realize that you are doing it.

The other reason can be that the person is totally materialistic. Even then you can only pity that person and move on. Nothing much to do here. But this exercise is not about understanding the other person who said that, it is about ‘you’. The question is ‘what is the definition of success for you?’

Instead of trying to understand why the person said so let’s break the question and understand it.
