The greatest
curse of Kaliyuga – Praising and fault-finding – Me, My Guru
“The greatest
curse of Kaliyuga is praising and fault-finding” these were her exact words
saying which our Guru left us for the day. That day we enjoyed her session a
lot and were very happy with our understanding and points that we understood
but her closing statements came as an anti-climax to our experience. No, this
wasn’t the first time this had happened and yet every time it gave the jolt as
if it were the first!
First she
points out that we were too selfish not to appreciate others. She gives us
years of lecture on why to praise, whom to, when and the benefits of praising
others on self and the receiver and when with lots of reluctance we practice it
(half-heartedly) with great difficulty she says that exactly is one of the
‘biggest curse of Kaliyuga’. Sometimes, we especially me wondered if she was
sadistic in nature and loved to see us confused and lost. Why she chose to take
us on a ride from one extreme of spectrum to the other? Just when we would feel
comfortable in a certain subject and ‘feel’ sure of understanding it,
she would give us a jerk that would unsettle us in so many ways.
“Guruji,
you’ve explained us so manytimes the need to appreciate others and now when we
are there, you are telling us we aren’t to do it. Can you be clear on this?”
asked someone the moment she sat down.
