….contd…..
This affects your health and that
in turn harms your other areas of life and relationships. So, think is it in
any way good for you? If the effect is only bad, then why do it knowingly? Now,
you tell me any one reason where comparison with yourself benefited you’.
We were lost in thoughts. I was
just raking my brain to find a situation where comparison with me was good,
but……… especially after hearing her explanation of ‘past’ and ‘future’.
Comparisons, I didn’t think we could come up with any eg.
I am sure your hunger has eaten
your energy. Let’s break for lunch. After lunch, sit in meditation for atleast
one hr and go through all that I had explained and then we’ll continue this
discussion if need be ‘ saying this she got up. Even long after she had left,
we were silent. Each of us was processing all that we just heard. We didn’t
want a break in that line of thought and hence finished our lunch too in
silence.
By the time we completed our
lunch it was 2pm. We took just 15 minutes to eat today. Immediately, we all sat in
meditation.
I lost track of time as I sat in
meditation. I heard few coughs and clinking of glasses that forced me to open
my eyes. I looked at the watch. It was 3.30 pm and I didn’t even realize that.
By the time everyone came out of meditation it was 3.45pm and as usual Rahul
was quick enough to serve us tea which Priya had prepared. Yes, we needed it so
badly now. We started talking to one another. It was around 4.15 pm, that she
joined us.
‘Now, we understand how
comparison affects our lives and us. But, we know for sure that inspire of
knowing about it, we still won’t be able to let go off it. It is so ingrained
in us. Pray, please tell us also a easy method to drop it! ‘ pleaded Priya.
I was glad she asked this
question. Many times, I’ve loved the person and thanked him profusely for
asking questions. That benefited me too immensely. I sent them reiki too for their well-being
for atleast 3-4 days as a form of gratitude.
‘Very simple. Stop doing it.
That’s all!’ she replied with a smile that sealed all our future queries.
‘’But, for that go and think why
in the first place one compares? That will answer all other questions too” she
continued. “And then we’ll talk on this subject if need be. But, that’s all for
now” she concluded.
We got up reluctantly. We had
lots of matter to think about and to apply. We would be busy for few days to
come for sure! And then may be next time, when we meet we can discuss on this
topic more. I started walking towards my house with these thoughts in my
mind………..
Concluded……………….
