Reflections – on cleaning – 1

“They couldn’t buy it because of budget deficiency and yet the dearth of these items was slowing down their work. They had to do with the limited number of these items. And all these days there was this ‘pile of required items’ right under their nose and they had unnecessarily struggling for ‘want of these things’.” – Many times we think we are living in poverty when in actual we may be having something that we have never used. It can be with things in our house. It can also apply to ‘living our relationships’ in our life. We are so much lost in dreaming about one person coming and giving us all the joy that we desire that we miss out on living relationships in our life that we already have. Think about it! The deficiency is many times is because of ‘things’ kept away and forgotten than ‘actual’ lack of things.

“The office desk and the entire space looked clean and tidy. All who entered were immediately happy to see the ‘clean space’. All rejoiced over the items ‘found’. All celebrated the ‘abundance’ that was right under their nose.” – Happiness is in cleaning and maintaining our things and relationships right. Most of the time we spend time and energy in accumulating and getting what we desire. But, the moment we get what we want, we end up taking it for granted. It loses its shine and we end up chasing something else. Therein lies our problem. Time to live what we worked for!

Points to understand :

  • Let's look at all we have before going for that purchase. Money saved is money earned! Don't waste it on things that you already have.
  • Time to question the effect of our laziness in our lives. Is it eating away the 'joy' from our life? Who is to blame?
  • Can we organize our lives a little better by planning right?
