Me My Guru – On Sadhan being “Sahaj” (effortless!)

Contd....

Me My Guru – On Sadhan being “Sahaj” (effortless!)

The Rishi confidently replied “How can my routine break? How can the Sun set till I do not offer ablution to him? You woke me up as you are not aware of my power”.

Such is the power of regular remembrance. We become that which we keep remembering again and again, all through the day. To do “Sandhya” we keep seeing to see if the Sun has set yet. Mere blind remembrance is also good. But the real benefit comes when we remember in all four ways. We chant the mantra at the appointed time daily.

Next, we understand the meaning of the “mantra” and be with its import as we chant.

Next, we also thank and remember the Rishi who has written or given us the mantra.

We say it in its “meter”.

Similarly, we can do with any sadhan technique. Take any technique. Then do it at the regular time preferably daily (or at least do it daily without fail like we do hands-on at least once daily)

Then, through the day go through your chores with the import of the technique. That is keep chanting or remembering to be aware of ego (if you are working on it).

Before start of any work do pranayama at least 3-5 times – say eating, walking, sleeping, working, washing – just about anything. Now can you say you didn’t get time to do pranayama to heal ‘ego’ (it can be any attitude or emotion here).

Me, my Guru – Bhagavatam – Bhaktha Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap

Me, my Guru – Bhagavatam – Bhaktha Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap

But when the same problem is faced by a sadhan, bhaktha, people who are following dharm, then the same problem helps to alleviate them. It heals their karma. It betters their attitude. It purifies them. It helps to loosen up their bondage. It helps to grow spiritually. So you see, if and only if you are following Dharm, are full of purity of intent and in sadhan don’t look at the name of the relationship. Just do your bit. Keep your end of the relationship pure and full of love. See how honest you can be in your relationship. Play your part right. And then, leave the rest to God.

Use relationships to free yourself from bondage. Don’t use them to bind you to this World and karma”.

Having said this our Guru left us to have our lunch. We had to eat to fill our stomachs. But our hearts were filled already with what she shared!

She didn’t say anything new today and yet it felt new. Wasn’t this topic ever young, new and beautiful every single time?

Just listening to it gave us goosebumps. Imagine the bliss one experienced when he lived it??!!

Wow! No doubt, all Gurus stressed on this again and again!

We ate in silence.

This silence was beautiful.

This silence was fulfilling.

This silence was peaceful.

Me, my Guru – Bhagavatam – Bhaktha Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap

Contd....

Me, my Guru – Bhagavatam – Bhaktha Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap

If and when our love for the Divine knows no reason or season, then it makes us pure and innocent from within. Those are essential qualities that ‘moves mountains’ – through faith. Faith is just not a word. It is a state of existence of a ‘bhaktha’ where he becomes transformed into his object of love and exhibits the same qualities of the Divine – purity, innocence and love!

Hiranyakashyap was drunk so much with anger that it clouded his clarity. He couldn’t even see that he was trying to harm and kill his own and only son who was just a 7 year old kid! That’s how blinded we become with ego and anger. However powerful Hiranyakashyap was, still Prahlad was saved every single time because of his unwavering bhakthi and devotion for the God – Lord Vishnu. The same devotion when someone has for the demon, the results wouldn’t be the same – remember that. Only when the bhakthi is for the Divine will it give such results.

Being a sadhak, bhaktha or having faith doesn’t mean we’ll not have tough situations in life. We still may face cruel people in our lives. But, if we stick to sadhan, hold fast to our aradhya (Image of our beloved God), then it will protect us against all perils of this World and other too!

When a bad person does wrong then their karma comes as a curse and the punishments in their life. It causes them pain and suffering. It binds them to this World further.

Me, My guru – Bhagavatam - On the lost city of Dwaraka!

Contd....

Me, My guru – Bhagavatam - On the lost city of Dwaraka!

In the second instance, after the war, Krishna along with Pandavas arrived at Hastinapur. All the sons of Dhritarashtra and dKunti were killed in the war. Gandhari mother of 100 was left childless. In that fit of pain and rage, she cursed Krishna “You are considered God. If it is true, then you would’ve known the outcome of this war. And yet, you let it start and then go on. You could’ve stopped the war and all the devastations of wars with a single thought. And yet, you chose not to! You could have stopped all the bloodshed. And you chose not to put your ability to good use. And that way you are responsible for the death of my 100 sons. The pain of losing 100 sons is borne by me. I curse you to bear the same pain – may your clan be completely wiped out and you be in no position to stop it. you be the witness of that destruction”.

Lord Krishna accepted the curse. Not because he deserved it, but as God, it was His Grace and unconditional love for the devotee to accept all that the devotee offers Him be it a curse even!

God can end any calamity. HE has the ability to change the course of any event. Yes, both facts are true! Yet, he chooses not to. Not because HE wants us to suffer. NO! Because HE lets the Divine Law of Karma take its course.

Each one of us sow enough to bring about our downfall!  But, when the time to bear the consequences comes, we blame the Guru or God for being insensitive. When we are arrogant enough to run our life our way, we should be man enough to bear the repercussions too! We can’t have it one way only!

Me, My Guru – On karma explained – Bhagavatam

Continued.....(Tips to understanding the post")

Me, My Guru – On karma explained – Bhagavatam

“He didn’t give water to the person who was about to die. This was the same cup of water that caused Karna’s chariot’s wheel to get stuck in the mud. And that became pivotal to his death in Arjuna’s hand.” – “Every sinful act/thought carries within it the punishment that it deserves.”

We need not be the judges of others’ actions. We need not judge others’ character. We just need to work on our own character. The rest will be taken care of by the Universe and the Law of Karma on its own. Let’s not break our heads over it. Let’s untangle ourselves from the sins of others!

“Like many days, we didn’t receive though she gave – completely with love!” The most common pain and cause of suffering are “I didn’t receive love/respect/my due from the people in my life”. But, the question here should be “Was I strong enough to accept, receive, recognize or validate the love/respect/my due when it was given to me?”

An empty vessel will never get filled if it be broken in places!

Think about it!

“
I left her place in a better frame of mind than what I had come with – even today!” –

Don’t ask what technique to use (no need to call me or any other Reiki channel for that matter)? Just be with any technique that you feel like doing. And that will loosen up the hold of your emotions on you and then your clarity will increase. You will be able to see for yourself the next step that needs to be taken. Walk on that. And pretty soon you will be out of the mess of your emotions. You’ll come out free! Every single time! You have already experienced this multiple times. You’ll realize it so every single time you fall back on your sadhan!  ALWAYS!

Me, My Guru – On karma explained – Bhagavatam

So, you see a lifetime of doing charity couldn’t come to protect Karna from his death. Then, how do you think his good deed will come to give him victory in the war? No person’s good deed can protect him from bearing the fruits of his evil acts. Understand that from these episodes or anecdotes from our Ithihaasa” replied our Guru with a smile.

Our questions were answered. And yet, most of us were not happy. Like many days, we didn’t receive though she gave – completely with love!

We needed to work on our attitude if we were to receive more. And that understanding gave me the resolution to be in rigorous sadhan for the next fortnight!

After all, as our Guru always says “Some start is better than no start”.

I left her place in a better frame of mind than what I had come with – even today!

Me, my guru – No good done ever goes to waste!

Me, my guru – No good done ever goes to waste!

This story I knew even before I heard it from my Guru and yet, when I heard her tell this story, I felt like I had heard it for the first time. I hadn’t understood it all these years though I assumed I did. For me, it had just been a childhood story. I didn’t analyse it further. I never felt I could learn anything from it.

But today it seemed like a different story or so I felt as my Guru narrated this story "In a certain jungle lived a crow on a certain tree. This tree was on the banks of a stream. The crow was enjoying the morning breeze. It was still early in the morning and the whole day lay ahead. The crow knew it would be a long day searching for food – as every day! Thankfully, it didn’t have to go far for water. It lived right along the stream. It was glad that it had taken this decision to make this tree, right on the bank of the stream, its home. It looked at the sun's rays dancing on the water. And there it saw a black ant on the water. It was about to get drowned. Ants don’t swim. Our crow knew this. It felt bad for the ant. Wanting to help and save the ant it plucked huge leaves from the tree and threw them down. One of the leaves fell right beside the ant. The ant climbed onto the leaf. The wind brought it to the sand. And the ant was saved. The ant looked at the crow with grateful eyes. The crow flew away.

    # me, my guru stories, no good done goes waste, karma, you receive what you give, good or bad comes back to us, boomerang effect of our actions, sooner or later we reap what we sow, we reap what we sow,

read previous post further on this topic https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2018/08/bhagavatam-krishna-answers-king.html

Read the link given to understand how our "wrong/bad karmas" come to us even after 50 janmas when they mature!!!!

Apply the same rule to even "good karmas" that we do.....

in short, good or bad karmas always come back to the person who has done it....there is no running away from it - except of course by healing ourselves and working towards going towards our soul consciousness!

    Pointers to understand post:

"This story I knew even before I heard it from my Guru " - How many times this must have happened? We don't listen to understand! We listen to judge!!! We jump to conclusions even before the other has made his point!!! WAIT! Listen to the other. Listening right is an ART that takes janmas for everyone to learn! And that is all there is to learn! Listen from today on! Wait! Even if it is something you already know, let the other complete his say! This one attitude developed can make life so much more easier for you and others in your life.

"But today it seemed like a different story or so I felt as my Guru narrated this story " - The story being the same, it SEEMED different to the narrator. Why?

"it plucked huge leaves from the tree and threw them down. One of the leaves fell right beside the ant." When you want to reach out to a person to help, do it multiple times. At least one of the help may reach him. If you want to invite someone call multiple times. You can't say "I called once, he didn't receive the call or he didn't return the call!!??" If you love someone, reach out to the other multiple times!

If you want to suggest something worthwhile, give it multiple times.

As you see, only one leaf fell near the ant. Similarly, it may take multiple attempts to make a mark! Apply it in other areas too!

    Metta Day!

    Metta Day!

I see some of you feeling bad for you feeling left out of this meditation!

Some, for reasons beyond control, couldn’t meditate between noon to 2 pm yesterday!

So, for those who felt left out and who want to take part in this mass healing – let’s make some minute changes.

Let’s meditate for 15-30 minutes daily for the next month. Let’s do this till 22nd April 2024. As already mentioned, you can do any of the techniques already mentioned in the previous post on the same. “https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2024/03/world-metta-day-22nd-march.html…”

Now, regarding the time – Let's do it at noon and then at 9.30 pm. Those who are at home can do at noon and others well, 9.30 pm would be ideal for you.

Some of you may not find both times conducive for your sadhan.

Well, then you do it any time of your day. But, just do sadhan. That is important and not the time at which it is done.

I see only a few expressing the desire to participate in the blog. Well, to them, I will send a message about the technique we will be doing en masse – if they also mention that they would want to do so!

Others, you don’t openly come out in the blog, you can follow your schedule.

Next is the question – why do this at all?

Read the link given above to read the origin of this meditation. If the spirits of the forest can be changed from being “unwelcoming” to “welcoming” spirits, what to say of humans?

So, we need to send ‘love, kindness and benevolence” to all especially to ones in our lives so that we can live a life that we so desire – one where we can have good and loving relationships with all near and dear ones! And the start towards the fulfillment of this desire would be at least one of the parties in a relationship realizing the importance of healing needed. Then that person needs to put that understanding into action. And for that, we need to do active participation – that would be doing meditations to increase the energies of love and benevolence in ourselves and all in our lives!

Many times also seems a few times!

    Contd...

Many times also seems a few times!

Can we apply it in our lives?

    Of course!!!

Apply it anywhere and all you get is bliss. Every pain and every bitterness in your relationships vanishes!

If I love someone, then my desire should be just to be in the presence of “that person – my love” even if it be just for a second! There is nothing to expect, nothing to desire more than that! Just a look at the face of my love is enough to make my day! Just a desire to have a glimpse of my love is enough to make me make umpteen trips into the lanes of my love!

If I love my family members, my kid, my work – can I want more than just to be with them to be loving them?

    Think about it!!??

If I am not happy despite being with them, then I need to find out what is it that I feel for them – which I have been misunderstanding as love all these days? Look within! Know your feelings and emotions. You are answerable to none if you don’t feel love for your near and dear ones! Most don’t! So relax there! But know where you stand with your emotions in your relationships. It would make that relationship all that easier to live and understand.

It’s love, love and love – all along!

It’s love, love and love – all along!

Now, that is the thing about love! It can embrace outright ‘wrong’ to absolute ‘right’ in one single breath! It can turn a sinner into a saint. It also has turned an average person into a sinner.

It breaks you, crushes you and envelops you.

It makes you and then lets you hang high and dry. It bleeds you to death. It is the song of life. It makes life meaningless. It gives you purpose, direction and drive. It drives you crazy and makes you antagonize all and sundry in your life.  It makes you heartthrob of millions. It turns you into a recluse. It makes you, it breaks you. Do you have experiences to support these statements? Can you share with us?

Now, if love is these many, is it not worth avoided?! Unfortunately, it attaches itself to you more you run away from it. And that is the thing about love! Hate it, live it or love it – but you can’t do without it. Either way each one is living with love. Now the taste and shade of love is all it takes to change the flavour that you live and experience of love.

If the love for me means the other agrees and behaves as per my desire and whims and fancies, it becomes bitter for me. Then, I suffer because of ‘my love’ in my life. And then, I ask “Why maam, why is it we suffer in love?”

When physical fulfilment is the be all of my love, it is then a source of so much of anger, irritation, restlessness, stress and not to say of ailments that are caused by it, to me.

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Me, My Guru – on keeping count in love

Today, the moment our Guru took her seat, she was bombarded with questions.

“Guruji, I’ve already done so much for my husband and my mother-in-law. Shouldn’t they be returning it to me? I no longer want to give. I hate them for all the pain I am undergoing because of them”.

“Even I’ve done so much to my company and yet my salary – they pay me in peanuts. I hate them for exploiting me so”

“I did pooja worth Rs.’X’ and yet my desire is not fulfilled. I hate God!”

“I did japam (chanting) mantra that you suggested ‘n’ number of times and yet I am not healed. How long do you want me to do this chanting?”

There clearly was anger evident in every question posed. They said “but, we are asking questions maam” but they weren’t questioning. They were ‘accusations’ in the guise of questions. They – or rather we all dumped our anger, frustrations and hatred on her. And we still called her Guru!? Therein lay flaw in our attitude and actions. This was the flaw that drew our ‘karma’ to us. And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?!*

Tips to understand the post better :

*(!? = wherever this mark is, understand it as ‘both question and exclamation)

    * And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?! - see this closely! You’ll see how we wrongfully dump our negative energies on the person who ‘doesn’t’ have anything to do with it in the first place. How would you feel about a person who driving his car fast causes mud to fall on you – you who are standing by the road?

Therein lay flaw in our attitude and actions. This was the flaw that drew our ‘karma’ to us. And yet we thought she was responsible for our pain and suffering?! - Many times we are angry at someone or something and we take it out on the other. Usually this other is the spouse, parent -especially mother, our children - Why? Because somehow we take them for granted. Our children can't shout back at us and so we use them to dump our negativities on them when we get back home. And then we justify saying 'I had such a bad day at office and i was having splitting headache..so when the kid came didn't do homework i shouted..' Issue is very simple but we burst out at the simple excuse because we couldn't address and handle our emotions of our office or personal life the right way...

Don't take mother, spouse, Guru, God or some one who is ONLY wanting good for you as your punching bag. Treat them right. What you give to the person who loves you comes back from the person who has power over you....you are getting what you have given - always remember that!

That doesn't mean 'you stop giving negativity because of it coming back.' Understand it right! You are hurting the person who is standing by you at all times as doormat or punchbag and that is bad. Think about it! And so, you shouldn't want to give that to the person who loves you, supports you and wishing good for you!!!
