Why science?

As rightly questioned by some of you “Why should we heal scientists? Why should we heal for their financial well-being? Why for the circumstances to be conducive for scientific fraternity and growth!?”

Let’s take the covid situation as an example. When covid loomed large and the world pressurized the scientists to find a vaccine soon, one of the leading scientists rightly said “You believe Messi to be God and pay crores to Messi. Now go and ask him to find a vaccine too!”

That outburst was justified. Funds are not released enough for researchers. Their salaries and amenities are very poor. People in other sectors like advertising, entertainment, luxury, software, and the like are paid huge sinful pay. Good for them! But it is scientists who should be funded right if the society has to be well developed, comfortable, safe and healthy. The only such country is Israel. Funded right for the medical field. So, that is the country that not only had ‘hardly’ any deaths during Covid, they didn’t suffer from ‘insufficient hospital and medical equipment’ during that time. They also sent their medical staff to all countries where there was a shortage. Read it again! Not the superpowers but the small country came to everyone’s rescue. People, there were healthier because of good and ethical medical laws and practices.

When the world countries are spending a lot on warfare, they were funding research and health care – way to go!

Now you see the benefit. If our country can also have that facility? A country that has better educational quality brings out great minds and that in turn means great achievements and advancements in various fields. That means the right kind of prosperity and growth. Funding for weapons is the cause of every modern-day war. If we want peace, we should desire and heal for this shift to happen.
