Me, my Guru – on hole in a boat*
And the price we pay for it – our ‘life boat’ sinks in the ocean of this world. And we are confused, alarmed, crying wondering why we are not able to keep afloat as we sail!?
So,
whatever be the reason keep it aside and do ‘small repairs’ in your boat of
life first. Other things will follow suit eventually. Those who do other way
round suffer most in this world. And the blame is on God/Guru!!??
“This
story is more profound than it seems” said Rahul.
We
sat there for some time going through the story and its contents. We also went
through few of our experiences and understandings. We discussed old stories and
techniques. We talked a lot and yet at the end of the day found lot more to
talk about and discuss about. But, time beckoned us home. And go we had to!
Today,
we felt we left a part of ourselves at her place as we left…we would always
collect it later when we came back. But for now…..

# hole in a boat, on being grateful, on appreciating others little deeds of good, little nothings that matter, go an extra mile, do all the little acts of good, being human, character, honesty, giving 100%, on giving right and completely, on love, on giving, giving and receiving, secret of abundance, you receive what you receive for who you are

"Today, we felt we left a part of ourselves at her place as we left…we would always collect it later when we came back. But for now….." - From no place we come back the same! Always we leave behind part of ourselves and bring with us a part of the other! Now, the question is what is that part that we leave behind and what is that we bring along with us from others? Why not address that every single day at least at the end of the day? Why not see where we have left part of ourselves? Why not collect ourselves every day at the end of the day?
What stops us from doing so?
Think about it!! Is it our laziness or fear? Are we paying a very high price for our laziness then?
On this post : *(This
is one of my personal favourties. This story, how many ever times I visit has
something new to offer. I’ve applied it in scores of situations and yet keep
applying it. Yet, it hasn’t empties itself of ‘meaning and depth’ it has to
offer. I apply it to ever new situations and again newer understandings – every
single time.
Hope
you benefit and enjoy at least as much as I do, if not more from ‘this hole in
a boat’ story.
May
‘this hole’ help you to fill you up of all the ‘leaks’ in you and your life!

how it did!!)

This is an excellent story and can be applied to every aspect of life - work/career, relationships and spirituality.
What also needs to be observed is - why did he fill the hole in the first place. Was he expecting anything in return? did he do the math, that after i fill the hole 100 times there might be a client who will notice and pay me more? Definitely not. He filled the hole, because he loves his job, of painting and making things better. when he was painting, he was probably so lost in his job that he became one with the boat. that itself is his reward, probably more valuable than the monetary reward.
When you lose yourself in your job/role and give it your best, your self worth increases. every job/ relation is an opportunity to express yourself. The painter expressed himself by giving his 100% to the job he was doing. thats a big reward you can give yourself. Will try to implement this in small ways and see the difference. - Mona
