Me, My Guru – on furthering the sadhan……

Today Deshpande shared his journey and experiences with us. We felt very moved, happy, excited and were in awe of this man. He came rarely and when he did his talk was very interesting, pleasing and pleasant. But he was just II dg holder*. He did not do other degrees like us. I pointed out the same to him today. He smiled and said “But Guruji always says “Degrees don’t matter in spiritual line. Be in sadhan regularly that’ll take you on a fulfilling, satisfying journey and all your material needs too will be taken care of by the same! So I don’t need to do higher degrees!”

We turned to her for clarification. We were confused. She always asked people to do further degrees and here he was talking against it. Rahul immediately corrected him saying “She never said ‘no need for further degrees. But degree by itself doesn’t guarantee any change in your character and achievements in life!”

She smiled and said “Me saying such word is true. Your interpreting it is wrong. And to think your understanding is ‘me give’ way more than wrong. What I meant was “it is better to be a regular II dg holder than to be a master who doesn’t practice. Stress being on the regular! That means just attending class and getting mastership means nothing. It is just a piece of paper. You showed me masters whose attitudes “were way poor than acceptable by any standards”. Then I said so! But that doesn’t mean ONLY II dg is enough! No! Some II dg holders understanding, experiences, attitudes is way better than a master – I agree. But that doesn’t decrease the utility, benefit of higher degrees. If a II dg holder can have experiences more than few of the masters, imagine how much more richer would his journey be with his higher degrees.

(*II dg holder – is the term used for the degree held by the practitioner of healing therapy called Reiki. There are various degrees in this therapy like most other therapies…. )

Questions answered and points to be understood :

  • Why there is a need to keep moving forward in the spiritual line?
  • Like in material world, upgrading and updating ourselves of newer techniques of healing would help us to heal faster, better and easier.
  • The healing in the spiritual line crosses 'janmas'** and hence various techniques heals the various parts of 'karmas' (acts) of the soul.
  • How healing doesn't respond the same way to two people...
  • Healing technique and the process are good enough for all. But it is the person who uses it and his character that makes it look useful or redundant......

'janmas'** - as per vedic philosophy the soul goes through various janmas meaning births to heal itself of its ignorance and gain back its divinity.
