Me, my Guru – on greatest sin!

Me, my Guru – on greatest sin!

“There is no greater sin than cowardice; cowards are never saved – that is sure, said Swami Vivekananda. And I have found that to be true in every instance.” Said my guru one day. https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2021/05/sin.html

Even today, when I feel afraid of anything – be it running out of time or not having my wish fulfilled, I remember her words. And then I know, it is not the desire that needs to be appeased. It is my strength to overcome my weakness to have my desire fulfilled that needs to be addressed. And then, as I sit to do it with various techniques taught to me by her, I slowly regain my strength and feel fear go out of the window. https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-me.html

Step by step I work on my weaknesses. Little by little I overcome my fears. Slowly but steadily I gain strength. I am committing less sin than before after all these years. Still working on cowardice, but one day, one day I know I will overcome, one day!!! https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2009/08/on-seva_09.html

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi

I am not going to tell the story of how Shri Ganesh became the firstborn of the (First couple) Adi dampathi of the Universe – Shiv and Parvathi. I’ll not even tell you how he got an elephant head. Every Indian has grown up listening to these stories and even watching them on TV serials.

oday let’s just talk about the essence of this festival which needs to be retained over and above our rituals of decoration, making various (eateries) which we call bhog or Prasad and making sthapana of statue of Lord Ganesh for 10 days before immersing that in the waters.

We do this Pooja mainly to seek prosperity and request the Lord to remove obstacles from our lives in the coming year. As Vedic people and reiki channels, we know that we receive what we give.

So, if we seek prosperity, then we should use these auspicious ten days to give in every form as much as possible. So, if you seek food to come your way in the coming days/years, then distribute food at least 3-5 packets every day these 10 days. Those who can’t do it on a daily basis, give it on a single day. You need not cook yourself. You can order outside food and distribute it yourself. You can donate in the temple for annadanam schemes. You can also donate rice and other such groceries in various temples that take them and use them for annadanam on a later day. You can donate in an old age home. But, personally asking, I would prefer to do danam either in a temple or on my own. You can get small eateries to make 3 rotis with subji packed and then simply distribute them. Take your children when you are distributing these packets. Teach them by involving them to do the same.

You can also make a small ball of cooked rice and place it in the window sill or on terrace for birds to eat. You can also feed cows or a dog in your street. Look around there are ways to feed and so many mouth to feed. Use these ten days well.

Give at least old clothes to the rag pickers on one of these days. You can give at least one woollen blanket – it hardly costs Rs.150/-. Those who can afford more can give more.

Share and increase your bank balance of ‘Punya account’. Unless you make a contribution in your account you can’t withdraw from there!

Celebrate and enjoy in all its flavours! But don’t forget to put this time to good use by increasing your ‘good karma’ by doing little acts of goodness!

On congratulating all for being regulars with blog-posts

On congratulating all for being regulars with blog-posts

Three months is a long time – especially when the work was being done daily for so many years….

And yet I am glad to notice that many of you were regularly visiting the blog and revisiting the old posts and gaining something from it….

Kudos for that – to all!

The blog posts that are not having visitors will be removed from the net automatically. So if you people have benefitted from the posts then do your bit to keep all the posts intact!

It is very simple!

No money and no big work to be done here!!!

Just visit all the pages regularly – daily….

We are to see that all pages are visited regularly….

How?

Simple! One of you calls out to others to follow a certain month and year this month – say April 2010 and let other who wants to take up other month call out others to follow – let’s say November 2015….

Then others who don’t want to make any decision simple pick one of the persons who has picked the certain month and year and declare that he/she would be following that month/year….

And few others will follow the other person’s option of year and month.

This way we will have 3-4 group of people going through different month/year posts that month simultaneously….

Now, for this exercise not all of you may have time to read so many posts…

Then what to do?

Simple!

Open the first post of that month/year and keep the window open and do your work in the next window…..like that you can keep 2/3 windows for various pages of that month for say 30-40 mts…….

I hope I am clear……..

This way you can keep all the posts alive and benefit from them as and when you need them at a later date…..

The writing was my end of the job – I did well. Now to maintain that is your job if you want it……

Look within!

Look within!

Why do I get the feeling that you already have all the answers?

And that, you are wanting to hear the same answers and solutions from me today?

But, when you already have all the cards in your hand, why look any further?

Nobody in this world or above can know you more than your own heart! And if it has answers and solutions for you, then it can never be wrong!

Nobody can know what you want more than your heart. Nobody can want ‘good’ for you more than your heart.

Listen to your heart. Follow your heart. And trust me on this. You are in safe hands – for once!

So, if it is saying ‘Trust it’.

Go with it. Make it your ‘Guru’ for the day! Let it guide you.

Be relaxed and put your jitters in your stomach, fear, tension and all that out of window and follow your heart.

Trust me on this, you fill land safe.

# listen to your heart, be a guru unto yourself, guru, miracles, on listening, Universe talks to you, on God, being available, ask and it shall be given, seek and it shall be shown,

Reflections- On Cleaning – 2

Reflections- On Cleaning – 2

I had wanted to clean my balcony windowsill since long. The very thought kept nagging at the back of my head – all day long – every day since it became due for cleaning. And yet, I would say “I’ll clean it later since this work is more important etc etc" 10 times a day.

Today, I set aside all other works and decided to clean it. First, I had to go to my downstairs neighbours and intimate them that I would be washing my balcony grill. This was to avoid creating any inconvenience to them. The water wall falls into their balcony while I washed my balcony grill. You see, they could’ve put some edible for sun-drying or they had hung their clothes and so on. So, I always made it a point to tell my neighbours living below our floor of my such activities. Today was no different.

Then, I saw the ‘disgusting piles of garbage’ on the grill. This was one of the most ‘putting me off this activity’ cause. But, today, I was so clear in head that it didn’t bother me at all. I took an old broom to clean it. The one I use to sweep house can’t be used for this purpose. How can I let that broom sweep the indoors after touching all that was on balcony sil. This old broom was the discarded, ragged one that I kept just for such purposes. I dusted with it and it hardly took 10-15mts to push all that I loathed off the sil. Next, was to just put water there. I did. And lo! It washed on its’ own. It was that smooth. I didn’t do anything except pour water on it. The rest was taken care of by water.

On Post :

"I had wanted to clean my balcony windowsill since long. The very thought kept nagging at the back of my head – all day long –" Don't we all do this umpteen times a day...we keep postponing "doing" something. It can be a simple cleaning or making that call. It can be writing a report or making some changes in house. It can be "Being happy"!!! It can be about 'using something' as we wait for the 'special day' to come.....

In all this, we postpone 'living'. And the NAGGING - well that makes life more miserable than ever....so think about postponing every time that temptation comes your way....

"First, I had to go to my downstairs neighbours and intimate them" - If we decide on doing something, it should not be a problem to others. We should take care of that first. Let our joys not eat away others peace of mind. That is important.

"This was one of the most ‘putting me off this activity’ cause." - There is always something or someone who is 'responsible' for us to postpone doing what we need to do. But once we decide to do it, then we realize that 'the thing' was not that big a deal!

Try it - even things like 'forgiving someone' is easy once we decide to do it.

" I dusted with it and it hardly took 10-15mts to push all that I loathed off the sil." - In our head, all work looks big and difficult. All times seem problematic. Our future looks bleak in our imagination. But, as you see here, it took just 10-15 mts to clean that window sil. Same is the case with life. Once you decide to move on, forgive, become calmer, disciplined, no one can take that away from you. But you should decide first....

Next, however messy our life may be now, tomorrow it will sort out fine - if only we keep making our 100% effort in the right direction with right intent and with right purpose....

This week's HW :

Take one patch of your house and clean it - one day at a time.....

Those who can, clean the entire wardrobe or room....

By weekend we would have cleaned major portion or maybe whole of house too.....

Let's compare notes and see how this cleaning helped us in our state of well being....

Me, My Guru - On life and death – III!

Contd....

Me, My Guru - On life and death – III!

3.Don’t wait to share your affection, thoughts (right ones), time, gifts with the person you care about. You never know when you have to say ‘goodbye’ to people in your life. When we lose a person then we sit and regret and miss that person. Don’t be that fool any longer. Just live relationships for what and how they are meant to be like! Throw that list of complaints, to-do-list and fault-finding nature out of the window. Go, live life with that person. We miss out on ‘living a relationship’ (when I say relationship I don’t mean just the one that all want to or have with the ‘special one!?’ but every relationship that constitutes our world) by way of complaints and then pray “God, give me long life” Why? Whatever you are doing now, you are going to do till 100!?

What is the purpose of carrying this bitterness till ripe old age? We are waiting for that ‘special person’ to come. We are wishing for person ‘now’ in our life to vanish from our lives. We are assuming to live life happily in our imagination. There in our imagination we have all our conditions met. But, that day, sadly is never gonna come. So, in short we are never gonna be happy. Then why live life so long?

4.People who sit to discuss, analyse and trying to understand hardly go from point A to B. But, the one – the one like that students’ sister – the moment they hear about someone being in some sadhan would follow suit. They don’t sit to gauge its uses, benefits or understand it’s working. That is ‘love’ (love for self) that drives you to pick up something even without reasoning about it. That is ‘trust’ that drives a person to reach great heights of growth through a simple procedure followed. The quality required for this is purity of intent, trust and surrenderence!

# life and death, living life, make moments count, long life, meaningful life, full of life, life, death, problems and solutions, inevitable and how to face them, suffering is optional,

also read suggested : https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2009/03/real-growth-is-in-letting-go.html

Points to understand post :

"the moment they hear about someone being in some sadhan would follow suit." - 1.Most common excuse for not coming to class or doing sadhan is "I don't have company" or "I am waiting for XYZ to get time so that we would come together"

Do everything in life together. But we are born alone and die alone. We also have to fight our inner demons alone! Don't wait for others to come with  you. ONLY in this area of life, be totally selfish. Ask others to come with you, encourage others to work with you and come with you. But if they don't, don't wait for them. It's your time and life you are wasting. Think about it!

2.The sister of the monk did not postpone being in sadhan. She didn't say "But Buddha is dying. I will learn at my pace and at my sweet convenience." We all assume we have time. WE DON'T. Don't fret it away with lame excuses. Sadhan, sadhan nothing like sadhan!

Grab every opportunity to fine tune yourself! Every step taken towards knowing your inner thoughts takes you towards your real self - the core of your being - the centre of abundance of every kind!

When  you come to class, you not only heal yourself but with your 'healed self' you are better company to the one you are/have been waiting for. Isn't it? A person when he heals himself, makes atmosphere good and comfortable to all with whom he is interacting, living and being in relation with! Then is it not sensible to come alone rather than not come alone to class?

Do you stop sleeping, eating, travelling or enjoying life just because that 'someone' is not there with you? Then why that reason for sadhan and for coming to class?

Question time :

The points explained doesn't sum up all the points that can be understood through this post. There is lot more to it than that meets the eye!

All the students understanding doesn't sum up all that needs to be understood from the story that the Guru told. What is your take on that story?

How did this post make its mark?

What did you take from this post?

On disturbances in life and their place in our life

Contd....

On disturbances in life and their place in our life

A little disturbance in these conditions causes anger, frustrations, fear, pain and suffering in our life. And these feelings are our ‘indicators’ that ‘something’ is wrong with us’. They let us become aware of ourselves and seek to find the cause of our disturbance. In the process, we'll eventually seek our centre. We gain stability and strength. That is all there is to life and relationships in our life.

So you see any disturbance – be it in relationship, economic or socio-political is only to make us aware of our ‘conditions’ which are wrongly placed. With every awareness, comes little correction and bye and by we gain our ‘balance’

This disturbance can also come in the form of pandemic or death if we don’t make necessary corrections with little disturbances in our life! When you call out to someone and he doesn’t listen, don’t you yell at him or make a loud noise to gain his attention. Universe does it too. And then we end up asking ‘but why should God punish us?’ Questions itself is stupid so can’t be answered. This is not God punishing (as if He has no other work!?). It is the Law of the Universe. When you don’t listen to little noises, it yells at you! That’s all!

Contd....

# everything happens for good, ups and downs of life, challenges of life, facts of life, life, good and bad times, failure and success, pain and suffering, disturbances of life

Points worth remembering :

  • Disturbance in normal routine life is not a curse. Every thing that goes up has to come down. So it is with events of life. Good times are up. So comes down, the tough times after good times. They come and go in circles. That is the nature of life. Time changes for all. It has to.
  • So to avoid being in pain is not to seek 'avoidable situations and people' in life. But to learn to live with them with right mind set. Situations don't make or break us. Our conditional mindset breaks us down. So train the mind to be balanced at all times. And before long every situation becomes beneficial one way or the other.
  • We can't understand 'why' things go awry when they go. We can understand them only when we look back in time. We can understand our blessings of the past. So let us with faith know that whatever happens happens for good. If you are in sadhan and have done reiki for something, however it turns it is for good! Believe this and see fear, anger, frustration, pain, tension fizzle away for good!

Clarity of thought tip :

Lock down is removed. That doesn't mean everything is fine. The covid is still there. It would be stupid to travel out of boredom even to holy places as such times. Don't give yourself excuses of 'seeing God' and put yourself and others in danger. "I did reiki shield maam" is a stupid statement when simply we can sit at home and be safe. Look within to understand the emptiness that is driving you to take stupid risks in the name of 'seeing God' and 'visiting God'.

And then you say 'felt bad and sad that my 'X' fell sick and suffered due to Covid. Did reiki but...' If you really don't want to fall sick then don't do window shopping or do vacation trips now. Avoid crowds at all costs.

Due we really need to do shopping or go out to eat at such times? Think twice before justifying your actions!?

If you really want to experience God or silence, just disconnect with the outer world via whatsapp or other apps and go within. Connect yourself the old way. Listen to music. Sing along! Play in door games. Draw. Paint. Cook and feel the breeze on your face. You won't reach land of 'peace' by running away from here!

My wow moment - yesterday - I listened to my favourite songs ....rain as the back drop - it was wow!
I hadn't felt so happy since long.......so it was doubly grateful and wow moment........

Change the perspective lady!

Change the perspective lady!

When our expectations are not met we get angry!

At that time we justify our emotions and we identify with our expectations. But if we look at others situations and understand that – many times instead of anger, we could’ve generated love and respect for the same person! It’s all about perspective. Their actions don’t generate our emotions. Our perspective does it all. So, if there is lack of love in our life that is not because of people in our life! It is basically because of how we see and look at people in our life!

Change the perspective and let love flow in and through you!

Change the perspective lady!

There once was an old woman name ‘mayya’ in a certain village named ‘Reason’. She was always sad and crying her heart out – day in and day out! She had two daughters whom she loved dearly. They both were married and lived in nearby villages. One was married to ‘an umbrella seller and the other to ‘a fisherman’.

Whenever it was sunny, she would cry thinking “oh my poor child! How will husband of my eldest daughter sell umbrellas enough now, since people would not buy umbrellas when it is not raining?” Thinking of her eldest daughter’s problems and lack of abundance, she would worry and cry the whole day!

When it rained, she would think “Oh, my poor second daughter! How will her husband go fishing now that it is raining? How will my daughter wade through these tough times?”

Contd........

# change the perspective lady story, perspective, perception, attitude and its effect, good and bad, seasons of life, life and its aspects, celebration of life, reasons to celebrate in life, complaining about life, grateful for life ....

also read suggested : https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=cleaning+the+window

read the link to understand the following points :

What is the definition of good and bad?
Are we really good or in relation to someone else only?
We presume we are good, but are we actually good - think about it...
When we change for good our world changes for better. Does that not mean the 'bad' that we encountered, saw and hated was actually within us all this time? think about it!

Pointers in this story :

"When our expectations are not met we get angry!" - This is the premise for this story......many times we have held discussions on expectations and anger and yet it remains a subject worth discovering and understanding. We may understand the words many times yet when it comes to applying, that's when our logic buts in to negate all our understanding and say " yeah, true, but...." and lo! down the drain goes all our hard earned understanding.

Understanding is no understanding if it is not applied, ingested into our persona and it reflects in our way of thinking and living it out!

"There once was an old woman name ‘mayya’ in a certain village named ‘Reason’. " - Look at two major characters here that are distractions and culprits that distract us from our understanding and our desire to be balanced in and through all stations of life.

One is 'mayya' loosely translated means 'mother'. The central character is called mayya and is also a mother. We usually identify ourselves with our roles in our life. We become the roles we play and start arguing from that identification. That way our 'logic' says we can hurt the other person or make him lose his argument in our favour - whichever the need may be!

How many times you must have said "but maam, as a mother is she not supposed to...etc, etc"

"but maam, as a mother how can I not worry about my child..."

"but maam, is it not my duty to see my child get married etc, etc..."

replace 'mother' with any other role of a parent, young man, spouse, sibling, relative, elder person, friends and why even God...we justify their duties and also our sufferings based on these relationships or roles that we play.

The logic may seem right, but it is basically stupidity and flawed and hence doesn't hold good in the region of 'Truth'.

"Reason" - We think we are arguing on the basis of reason but it happens otherwise - always. We argue from the basis of our assumptions, definitions of relationships and expectations. Hence our suffering is baseless and useless. And we get angry that no one is taking us out of our misery! How sorry is our state!?

Where did you apply this understanding of today?
