Me, my Guru – On gaining clarity of thought
“But our question is
‘what is the technique?’ asked Vaishnav irritated.
“Just empty your mind
of the all the clutter that it holds. With clutter gone, clarity of thought
expresses itself. It is there already. You can’t get it from outside. Attitudes
like anger, complaining nature, selfishness, hatred etc clouds clarity of
thought. Only a person who is healed of this actually develops clarity of
thought. A heart that is filled hatred can’t have a mind that thinks right,
though many times it assumes it does” she concluded.
No doubt, we didn’t
find it easy to understand inspite of understanding the words that she uttered.
And that’s why we ended up asking same questions again and again. We thought we
understood but in actuality we didn’t. It took years of healing to understand
just this. I wonder how long it would take to understand something more!?
But she had said once
“Process of healing is not difficult or lengthy. It’s just that we don’t want
to let go of our lesser emotions. We identify with them. We have our own
twisted logical reasoning to own them. We feel we can’t survive without them.
And that is the reason we can’t and don’t want to let them go!”
“Let’s start small”
suggested Swathi. “Let’s stop complaining about our life. Let’s just work on
that and see how it goes for next at least three months”
Few of us didn’t find
it palatable but still couldn’t do anything as most of us wanted to go ahead
with that suggestion. As we processed we realized even that was going to be a
herculean task for us to implement.
But now that we had
taken a ‘mass oath’ we were stuck with this for some time to come.
And time was to tell
how it benefited most of us who practiced it with consistency and vigour
during these times. Sometimes, solution is so simple if we are ready to accept
it!
I had asked our Guru once "Why can't we let go of our beliefs in the first place?".
She had smiled and replied "Identification with our beliefs is the reason we don't let go of them! The day we realise beliefs are mine, I am not the belief, I'll be able to let go of it. The day we realise our emotions, likes and attitudes are ours but they are not "us", we would let go of them too!"
She had answers to our questions. And yes they were simple and straight forward most of the time. It was our heart and mind that messed up with the answers which made it difficult to implement them in our lives and ourselves. And therein lay our 'freedom'. The day we understood this, every issue of self and the world can be healed - be it personal or global like wars, supremacy, conversions and killings in the name of war and what not!
And yet, we didn't want what we wished for it seems. Because if we really wanted what we said we wished for, wouldn't we let go of all that prevented our wish from coming true?!

Points to be understood :
- Even to understand and accept that 'we don't know' we need to heal ourselves first.
- Assuming 'we know' is the biggest bane and this ignorance is a curse we carry with ourselves due to our stupidity and fear.
- A person who is so stupid would automatically be adamant and adhere to his beliefs. And that causes him to pay a heavy price all through his life. No God need curse him. No God need punish him.
- Have beliefs and perceptions but also be flexible with them. Doubt your beliefs and question them. You will find a way out of your suffering sooner than later that way.
- No person from outside can help you unless you break 'these walls' from inside.
- Be a friend unto yourself!
- Be gentle with self!
- Knowing what to hold on to and what to let go is a lesson that takes life times to learn......
Covid Challenge :
I hope all of you are still with Covid Challenge. Don't get lazy. Don't give excuses.
You are not answerable to me. You are working out, doing exercises for your healthy.
Not to please me - remember that and so don't give reasons for not doing exercises. Find ways to do exercises.
How much weight you have lost is not important. You have to increase stamina. That is important. Many life style diseases can be kept at bay just by doing regular exercises.
Everyone wants to live long - what is the fun of having long life if it is lived with pains and sufferings? What is the fun of living so with medicines all through the day?
Keep yourself fit and fine. You can enjoy life and experience life to the fullest with good stamina.
Inspire and include your children and elders too to do exercise with you. Don't force it on them. Just include them. May be just simple ones, but include them wherever possible!
Clarity Tip :
Regarding 'sarva jana sukhino bhavanthu..' comment - read the link given in the previous post to understand how and why we don't let go of our beliefs. That is the basis of our 'differentiation'. As long as we think we are different and we need to be 'one up over the other' we would fight, kill, manipulate, cheat, hate and do all such related activities in the name of self respect, religion, nationality, sex, caste, creed and growth.
Only when we see the 'oneness' will this stop!

I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart & on behalf of all your shishyas for writing 229 posts this year! Yes we just completed around 207 days of this year but you have already written 229 posts, Way to go :) At this pace we can break the record of 2016 where you had written 303 posts. Hurrrrayyyyy!!!
Congratulations to all shishyas as well, we all are really lucky to have met Revathi Mam, I'm sure many of us are learning(based on comments) what mam wants us to learn from these posts. Hope she is happy to some extent with our progress on the path of Sadhan and nice to see her efforts of writing on blog and pains she takes to be available 24*7 bearing some sweet fruits. 12 years since you started this blog mam and with so many posts every year, this is a great achievement, Many more to come :) Thank you so much mam for taking care of us, our lives, our thoughts etc... and helping us in all possible ways. The below lines reminded me of sharing an experience I had

I saw a new ice cream parlor near our home, Went inside and saw that there were some really good flavors, took them home and I ended up eating 2. I felt bad for the amount of Sugar content I put in my body that day and I promised myself not to have anything sweet for the next 1 week and it felt so nice after 1 week that I could live upto the promise I made. I realized it's so easy to set small goals in life and achieve them. This in itself is like a self propelling and inspiring tonic , which if we keep doing regularly can increase our will power and confidence, Instead of having long and new year goals like I will reduce 20kgs this year, I will not eat sugar this entire year, I will give up chocolates for rest of my life , I realized that keeping small goals is easier and does not mentally drain you out or force ourselves , and in this process sometimes people keep cursing themselves and others that "because of this this situation I took up this resolution this year etc.., I should not have done it, I'm not happy etc.." By keeping small goals we avoid all such drama and negative things and still make our life meaningful.
