Me, My Guru Vibrations

Contd.....

“Instead of looking at it as ‘who is right’ situation, let’s see it as ‘how it happened’ crisis. Ok?” that did it. This was a totally different take on this issue. Our interest and curiosity overtook our heated arguments to give room to silence.

“In a certain city lived a just and kind king who rules his subjects well. He would go around the town periodically. Once as he was in one such procession, he passed a ‘sandal wood’ shop. Few minutes later, he told his minister “Strange! For no reason what so ever I felt like hanging that shop-keeper of sandalwood shop”. Minister just nodded his head and took note of that shop and that shop keeper. Later in the evening when his work was don while returning to his house, he visited that ‘sandalwood shop’. In the course of his discussion he was shocked when he heard that shop-keeper say “There is hardly any business in this king’s rule. At times, out of frustrations I pray that our king dies soon. Atleast then, people would buy my sandalwood to light his pyre”.

Minister smart that he was, realized where the problem was and said “actually the king had sent this bag of gold coins to give to you. He said “When I passed that shop, the smell of sandalwood was so relaxing and pure that all my tiredness was gone. I appreciate him on stocking such good quality wood”.

Hearing those words and having received that bag of gold, the shopkeeper gave his best quality sandalwood to be gifted to king. The minister took the same and gave it to the king saying “the sandalwood shopkeeper gifted you these woods as he wishes to thank you for being such a just and kind ruler’. Hearing those words and smelling such good sandalwood, the king felt ashamed of his thoughts and sent a bag of gold to him via his minister. The minister sincerely had that bag of gold sent to the shop keeper. The shopkeeper being contended and grateful started singing praises of king to all and sundry”. Now what did you understand from this story?” she asked.
