What Ramayan teaches with regards to relationship between husband and wife?

It teaches the duties of husband and wife and also shows how when that duty is not properly executed it sets course of events in motion in our life which are painful in every aspect – be it physical, emotional, social, psychological or spiritual.

Please refer posts on Rama as Ideal husband to know the duties of a husband. It’s husband primary duty to stand by his wife and protect her honour at all times. Not every time it applies to a villain abducting his wife and he going to rescue her. No. on daily basis every person who insults, talks ill of, hurts his wife is actually Ravana (that includes women of the family too who are bad mouthing his wife). His duty is to see that it is not happening.  It’s also his duty to see that they don’t hurt her both physically and verbally. A house where a woman sheds tear will never prosper and that family will bring about its ruin which is cause for its woman’s tears. I am not saying that, it’s in Manusmriti and in Vedas.

Therefore, since beginning women were treated with respect and love in our country as per our culture. The day the women’s ill-treatment started, the downfall of the nation set in and the rest is history as they say. If you want to get back our lost glory start with one of its important step that of holding up honour of woman – atleast start at your house. 

Just look at west – they picked from where we left. They started respecting woman at the time we started treating her as second rated citizen (many times worst than an animal) and the Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswathi (Goddess of both learning and wealth) have shifted their home from India to the west. No doubt they are very prosperous and the Universities of the West are the much soughted learning centres in the world. Why? Because, there woman is the centre of everything. Be it in personal relationships or decision-making, professionally its all about women and their comforts and opinions. Think about it! And when you realize the truth behind this statement, follow it and spread this know-how to one and all!
