On prayers answered!
Once a Bhaktha sat in front of Shiva*
and asked him sadly “How come you don’t answer all my questions? How do you choose which question to answer
and which to not? And your choice makes my life hell?”
Shiva smiled at him and said “I answer
each and every question of yours’
“No, you didn’t answer many of my questions”
replied Bhaktha confused!
Shiva smiled and said “How can I ‘not
answer’? There was mischief in His
voice.
Now Bhaktha understood the question
Shiva was asking and corrected his question and reframed the question “well, I
meant you were silent!”
“Now you are right” smiled Shiva “And
that exactly is my answer dear” he said “remaining silent is also an answer if
you receive it”
“And pray why is it so?” asked the Bhaktha confused.
“Many times it is because you are not in
a frame of mind to receive any. You are venting out your anger. You are in
accusing mood. Even when I give an answer you don’t want that. You want what
you want to hear. How can I answer then?” replied Shiva with smile that said
more than words.
Shiva* - One of the Trinity of Vedic philosophy – One of the three aspects of the Creator which runs the show called the Universe.
He is also the ‘Guru’ or the preceptor of the world!

Question answered :
Question answered :
- Why God takes longer to answer the prayers?
- When does He not answer?
- God is insensitive to my woes. why?
Points to be understood :
- When we pray, are we seeking His blessings or demanding Him to do something for us?
- If it is prayer that we do, do we really think He knows better than me or not?
- Do I know more than Him?
- If I know more than Him, why go to Him?
- If He knows more than me, then His answer which is not in line with my wish should have some right basis. Right?
