Il Dolce far Niente!

Me, My Guru

...contd....

Such was the various responses that she received.  She nodded her head and smiled. Then after a pregnant pause, with a smile that said more than it showed she asked “what special did you do today?”

“Special? Nothing! We just lazed around!”

“We played a lot”

“We were relaxed!” each gave out his observation.

“Exactly. But my question is why were you relaxed today? Why not everyday? Where did your happiness come from?”

All started talking at a time. She let them for some time to come and then said “discuss among yourself and let me know after 30 mts” and left us.

There was lots of chattering, shouting, giggling, teasing and what not. Today it seemed as if everything began and ended with the word ‘joy’. If only our every day was like this! But alas! Is it asking for too much! I sighed, but pulled myself together fast enough to not let this thought eat into my present joy. The air was ringing with laughter when our Guru joined us. She just raised her eyebrows and we read it as “So!” and our answers poured forth. We had decided earlier that Shastha would be our spokesperson and she did a good job of it as she started.

“We were relaxed today because we didn’t have an agenda that had to be completed. Nor did we have any time bar to live up to. There was no pressure of performance that is like having to learn something or understand anything you were explaining.”

She paused to look at our Guru. We didn’t know how she would take it if we said that even her explanation had a tinge of stress packaged with it. But she waited just for a sec and said “Continue” and Shastha let out an air of relief and continued “Actually we didn’t have any targets. None of the acts had ‘doing well or to do well’ tag attached to it. We just let it be. We just flowed with the rhythm of feelings and that was relaxing.  That actually was the stress buster. We did everything to just ‘enjoy’ and not to prove our abilities or ourselves to anyone. In short we lived for ourselves!” she  completed hurriedly and took deep breath.

Every one clapped. We hadn’t discussed this way. We had just blurted out some points and here she was putting them together to give such a beautiful and completely sensible explanation. We realized now as to how good our choice was to ‘select her to voice our understanding.'

Now this Vidya sinha starrer hit song tells us how we regret the lost moments and how we don't live them when we have them.....we take moments for granted and once they have passed - be it moments or people we miss them and want them back........
