Il dolce far niente!

…contd…..

God knows whose idea it was, but it was decided that we play ‘blind man’s bluff’. It’s a game where a denner (the person who is out) is blind folded and all the other people make noises to help him know where they are! With the help of these noises that they make, the denner catches one of them and also tells who that person is. It’s a very simple game and a game that we played as kids. There was lots of shouting, booing and clapping going on. I don’t know for how long but we were exhausted by the time Rahul came to tell us “lunch time”.

We washed and got fresh before going for lunch. There was a small stream running through this resort and it was here that we washed and cleaned ourselves. And yes, we had our share of water splashing and pouring etc too!

We were famished by the time we sat down to eat. Hot rice, sambar, rasam tasted heavenly. Everyone agreed that we hadn’t eaten such delicious food since long. We again had Rahul to thank for this perfect arrangement. Infact, everything was arranged by him today. And we didn’t have any complaints so far! I couldn’t believe when he arranged for ‘paan’ too after lunch. Yes, betel leaves were from the ‘resort’s trees’ and that was really refreshing – to have something grown in front of your eyes and we could pluck it fresh and eat it! wow! Now this was what we called an experience and we all vetoed on it.

After lunch we didn’t want to run around and that’s when forgotten

game of ‘pachchisi’ (older day version of ludo) was decided to be played by some. Others played ‘snake and ladder’ and the rest were
(Indian version of snake and ladder)

on-lookers, hooting, commenting and enjoying teasing one and all! Say an hour later few left to have their ‘afternoon siesta’ and can you guess where they all slept ? Yes, right under the trees. The cool breeze put them to sleep in no time. Good that the resort had some coir cots on which these people slept.
