On reflections – on dog

Contd....

On reflections – on dog

I personally am not a dog person, but when I looked at that beauty my taste and preference didn’t decide my feelings and hence I could ‘see’ the beauty of the creature. When we ‘see’ without any attachments like ‘what I like/don’t like’, ‘what I want’ don’t want’ and so on and so forth, we become ‘available’ to what life has to offer us! There we ‘see’ beauty. Then we can actually ‘appreciate’ the beauty of what it deserves – not because it is what or how we want it to be!

Where do I apply this lesson?

Everywhere and with everyone!

Yes – and more so with the person who irritates us or one whom we dislike or hate. The day we are able to see ‘beauty’ and ‘goodness’ in the person who’s hurting us or whom we hate, know you are on the ‘right path’ for sure! You are following ‘Dharma’. Dharma doesn’t say ‘you can’t have dislikes’ but it asks ‘can you see beyond your person feelings and look at person for what he is in ‘toto’. We generally only concentrate on areas of the person with which we are affected. And then we go on and on and on about that. Before long, we ‘believe’ that that is all – about that person. The way he is meeting/not meeting your expectations may be at fault – agreed! The way he talks to you and talks about you also may be bad, wrong and hurtful – agreed again! Agreed he is ‘bad to you’ – but – a big ‘BUT’- that says ‘he is not a bad person just because he is bad to you’. The day you are able to know this difference know yourself to be walking towards ‘miracles’ of your life.

Next, I came on the terrace to walk and to watch sunset. And it was ‘by fluke’ that I noticed that dog – and the experience was magical.

Magical moments happen mostly ‘in such spontaneous moments’.

When we are not on look out, we actually receive more!

Me, My Guru - On secret to being happy!

Me, My Guru - On secret to being happy!

"Guruji what is the secret to being happy every day of our life?" asked a student.

And the Guru replied "You got to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions, otherwise you will lose to yourself every single time every day of your life!"

Sometimes our Guru said very little. And that was enough!

Question time :

Many of you have been in sadhan for quite some time.

Some of you have taken sadhan seriously and taken to 'self study' and being aware of self...

How has that study effected you and your life?

What did you gain or lose because of that study?

What did you expect from that study and what did actually happen?

Me, My Guru - On honesty!

Contd......

Me, My Guru - On honesty!

“Nothing” she said smiling “not every character stands for something as you suppose.  Neither do those kids mean anything! What the story has to offer is somewhere else and you are looking at unimportant aspects of that story”.

Now we were confused for sure!

“Oh, we know this is just about being honest” came a voice from behind.

“Well, sort of yes and no. It is about honesty but that’s not all! We all want to run our lives our way. That is we want to rule ‘our world’ – short we want to be kings of our ‘little kingdoms’ and yet are always crying and complaining as to why we don’t get to sit on that ‘coveted throne’ and rule our lives – the way we want to. How come someone else does that and we lose out on that chance – every single time?” she continued. “But we forget the basis of eligibility to that kingship is ‘Honesty’ – the basic attitude that we compromise on and we miss out on our understanding of the Universal Law that “We get what we give”. How can we expect honesty and trust from others if we are not honest? Apply it everywhere and you’ll see the pattern come alive that explains the basis or basic cause of our suffering.

If you want love, GIVE LOVE

If you want respect, GIVE RESPECT

If you want happiness, GIVE HAPPPINESS

If you want understanding, GIVE UNDERSTANDING

And if you cheat, YOU GET CHEATING AND CHEATED

If you manipulate, YOU’LL BE MANIPULATED

If you give hatred YOU GET HATRED

If you are selfish YOU’LL MEET SELFISH PEOPLE etc....

Each one gets what one gives. Each is ‘eligible’ to his ‘kingdom’ the one he has ‘generated’.

We all desire to be ‘kings’ enjoying abundance of power, material benefits and comforts but forgot that we sit on the throne that we generate on. Whether it is one of thorns or of petals depends on us and our attitude and character”.

She left us for good.

Honestly this was not the first time she talked about this but yet ‘kingdom’ part thrown in this time made it more impactful. We each applied it to areas where our suffering came from and this we, at least me got a peep into the reason for my suffering, I understood why I got what I got, why I lived with people I do and lead the life the way I do. Trust me, it wasn’t anything good. We each had to do lots of thinking and so stopped talking for now and went silent – at least for sometime.....

....Jealousy......

……Truptram’s wife’s happiness was dwindling day by day. She didn’t like this feeling. She wanted to be happy always! Her wish was so simple – yet it always eluded her. This was sheer injustice. Surely someone couldn’t bear her happiness. Yes that was it! There possibly could be no other reason apart from that. But, they didn’t know her. She would show them – show them that she was happy inspite of them wishing of them wishing other wise!

With this resolution, she approached her husband who was playing with their two kids. She stopped. She was staring at the kids and the effect of their laughter on her husband’s face. She like what she saw! She liked more what she understood. Now she knew every person loved his/her child more than themselves. Each person’s happiness depended on their childrens’. So, she called Truptram aside and demanded “I want a wish fulfilled right now!”. He smiled and asked “and pray what is it?” She replied “First, promise me, you’ll fulfill it immediately without asking question and swear on our children.” Truptram was amused at her talk. Without thinking much he promised her.

She said “Then – wish that one of our kids die now!” Truptram was totally taken aback. He was confused. Anger took over his confusion later. He started to shout when his wife reminded him that he had sworn by his children. He hated her. He hated himself more. With broken heart, he pleaded her to see reason and the pain involved in this wish – but adamant she was. She had her own logic to counter his request.

At last, lost to her blinded passion he wished that her wish come true! Their one kid dropped dead immediately. His wife with excitement ran outside to see the fate of her neighbours. All her neighbour’s children were dead. Wails, wails everywhere… not one house was left untouched. Death danced in every house. She came home to share this good news with her husband and also to thank him for giving her this joy.

But Truptram was packing his bag and leaving along with his child. She was surprised. He looked at her and said “Enough of living with you. I’ve created enough of pain to last this whole life. I am taking our child away so that atleast she remains safe and pure. You’ve stopped being a human being long back. You, you have turned into a demon completely. I am leaving for good. May good sense prevail in you before it’s too late!”. She tried in vain to stop him.

But, she wasn’t all together sorry too. She was drunk with joy for now. She would think about other things tomorrow. Wasn’t tomorrow just an other day…..she slept in peace.

Next day, morning, she got up excited. But was surprised to hear no noises at all from anywhere. She found this odd. She went out. Not a single soul in sight. Not even milkman and sweeper. This really was odd. She went to neighbour’s place to check the reason. She found the whole family dead in the hall with a letter “There is no more sense in living in this witch infected village. No children – and spouse crippled and blind – no sense in living. We are going to meet our kids.” She was shocked. She ran to other houses. Same story every where. It was a village of dead bodies. Except her, no one was alive in the entire village. She felt cheated. How could they all do this to her? They all planned it so well – they wanted to see her suffer. Yes, they couldn’t bear her happiness. She has lost – she has lost to all! Now, She had no one to compete. This was senseless living …………

Most common of all, vikaaras is ‘Jealousy’ and is so abound. But, least recognized as it is put forth by the statements like :
a. I just want to be happy.
b. I deserve more than I have and they get more than they deserve.

Why do we succumb to this weakness? Think………

Till then, keep healing and meditating……..

Reflections – on freedom to do what we want!

Contd...

Reflections – on freedom to do what we want!

We want the freedom but not the responsibilities that comes with it. We want to do as we want. But, we don’t want to own up consequences of our freedom. For e.g.: we want to eat all that we want to all times and with no restrictions on quantity too. Good enough…but when we fall sick we blame God/Reiki or others for making us fall sick. We even go to the extent of saying “God/Reiki knew I would fall sick if I eat so, He shouldn’t have given me enough to eat”.

We want to travel and go to all places especially during this covid times. And yet, when we get Covid ‘others’ are to be blamed. Apply it everywhere and you’ll get the picture.

Similarly apply it to niceties of life that money can purchase. We want all the material comforts, luxuries and what not. We may not need them yet we want them! Zaroorat mein aur chahat mein bahut antar hat! Again, this wish is also ‘fair enough’ so far. But when we are jealous of people who have then it becomes a problem. When we are angry, sad, depressed, stressed that ‘others’ are not fulfilling this desire of ours – then it becomes a problem. Wanting things of this World is not the problem! Expecting others (be it spouse, parent, relatives, nation, Guru or God) to get it for you is the basis of one’s problems.

But we think we are ‘entitled’ to get what we desire!

Points to understand :

  • When we desire let us be be open to bearing and facing the consequences of that desire coming true.
  • Every desire has a package of pain and suffering in it.
  • No desire ever comes with ONLY happiness and enjoyment with it.
  • When we accept this fact of life, then we'll not end up complaining about the situation which arose because of our 'desire' only!
  • We are not ENTITLED to receive anything and everything. No one is here to serve us! Just because we EXPECT AND DESIRE no body will stand by us to dance to our tunes!
  • Anything that a person or Universe does to us is a blessing - not our right! Let's get this straight first!

On disturbances in life and their place in our life

Contd....

On disturbances in life and their place in our life

From chaos comes order!

From disturbance comes peace!

From pain comes panacea from pain!

And only through pain we transcend pain and suffering ultimately!

So sooner we befriend disturbances of life and know how to use them to our benefit we’ll stop suffering with questions like “why so much of suffering? / How can God be so heartless? / Why can’t we all be happy all the time?”

Let us wake up to the opportunity that comes knocking at our doors in the form of disturbance in life. Then we’ll benefit with every disturbance in life, else every small disturbance will only break us down!

Me, My Guru - On quitting

......contd.....

Similarly, let go of ‘obsession’ in a relationship.

Many times, we mistake obsession to be love. Love lets you breathe. Anything that stifles is ‘obsession’. Love is all about losing self and living for the other. Wanting to control has got to do with ‘mental disorder’ and is nowhere near love.

A frail, sick and timid mother will throw herself in front of a tiger to protect her child. That’s love, where one ‘loves’ the other more than the ‘self’. When I expect my ‘son’ to listen to me even after marriage, then that love needs to be treated! You find that type of ‘control-freaks’ in every relationship – master-student, friends, spouses, siblings infact everywhere.

Relationship should have breathing space. You can’t stifle it and complain that it is dying. ‘I want you to be HAPPY but ONLY as long as that happiness comes from me’ – that is an inferiority ridden personality talking.

‘I want you to happy, even if that comes from any other source’ is an adult in the relationship.

‘Exactly Guruji. Please explain this to my wife. I am happier with my secretary than with my wife and she is not understanding’.

Excuse me! I didn’t mean that! Happiness is different from lust fulfilment. Don’t mix up and state that I recommended that. A big no!

I meant in following cases –

My best friend has found good friend or love in her neighbour/colleague and I can’t and shouldn’t control her. Her happiness only should matter to me. Yes, I may be left alone in the process but that doesn’t mean I can’t let her go ahead with other relationships.

Every relationship undergoes change. We embrace new relationships all through our lives – mostly. It would affect older ones in some way. That’s part of growing up and moving on.

My child/sibling/friend marries and is happier and close to his spouse. I should let go there. I should be ‘mature’ enough to be happy for them. I am doing no sacrificing there. Remember that!

Your Guru takes new students. Time spent with you will reduce. Don’t be jealous. Don’t wish that your Guru’s classes should end. Grow up! Learn to share his love with fellow learners.

Your spouse is happy with new hobby or career. Then don’t be jealous and end it for them.

Hope I am clear here!
