Stories and all! Madman and the Doctor

A year passed. Dr. Vijaykumar was a psychiatrist head in a mental asylum. His year had been hard, tiring and hectic. He never could rest a bit. The type of patients that his asylum received was very demanding and complicated cases. His friend Asha was a devout devotee of Guru Bhagavan. She wanted him to attend one of his sessions and was trying to do that since a year. But Dr.Vijaykumar was hardly available for such frivolous activities. Last year around this time he had taken a day off and a mad person had run away from this asylum. To catch him was a huge task. He was very skeptic and didn’t desire any of such incidents to happen again. He declined Asha’s offer.

But his fellow doctor and good friend Dr.Prakash stepped in to look after his duties and relieved him for 2 days. And so he was in Guru Bhagavan’s ashram along with Asha sitting in the crowd listening to others experiences. Guru Bhagavan walked in. The crowd got up and cheered him. Guru waved back. A disciple fell at his feet and
whispered something in his ears. Guru nodded his head and a young man from the crowd was asked to come over the stage. He was given mike and he started “My name is Anand as most of you know and am a businessman. Last year, I lost my business and was about to commit suicide. I closed my eyes and changed our Guru’s name and lo the Great Murugappa was in front of me and he had given Rs.25/- lakh cheque as an investment in my company. He then left. I did not encash that cheque. Here it is for all to see (he showed a cheque leaf!). Instead with renewed confidence I worked and came out of the mess I was in. Later when I met Mr.Murugappa to return his cheque it wasn’t the same man and he said that cheque wasn’t his too! What is it if not our Guru’s grace and miracle? My Guru saved me. Hail our Guru!”

There was huge cheer in the crowd. Dr. Vijaykumar knew who that mysterious Murugappa was. It was his patient – a mad one who thought himself to be one or the other business tycoon always. That rainy night he was the one who ran away from the asylum.  He got up to explain the whole issue and clear the assumption that it was a miracle but he got an emergency call from his office and he rushed back to his asylum.

The Guru was praised and Guru was happy.

Anand was out of his mess and he was happy.

Madman in the asylum was glad he had donated huge sum of money to all who were needy.

Only doctor who knew the complete picture was disturbed, confused and worried. But he didn’t do anything!
He couldn’t do anything!

He had so many patients to attend to that he didn’t have time to clear the falsehood that sane people believed in!

He went along with his work – as ever!
