“Now how does respecting Guru, having faith in
him, declaring that you follow a certain Guru affect “your freedom? What’s the
connection” you may ask? Very close if you observe and understand correctly. As
I’ve already explained not disclosing your Guru’s name in public or not being
open that you are a reiki channel (and all such related incidents) talks about
your fears. Fear can be of any shape – fear of rejection, fear of being
rebuked, fear of infamy, fear of having to face irrelevant and senseless (in
our opinion) questions that are dipped in sarcasm and cynicism. For details
understanding of fear read related posts dt:Saturday, May 16, 2009, Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Fear stems because of a. fear of losing what we
have b. and receiving what we dislike. Whatever be the reason “fear” is
crippling. As Swami Vivekananda often said “fear is the only sin that needs to
be addressed and overcome to gain access to our Divinity” and “ignorance” is
the basic cause of fear. Ignorance about our divinity and ignorance that we all
are one. Because of this (supposed) separatedness, we fear each other and wish
to protect self from the other! What an irony! It’s like my head is trying to
save itself from my neck! But, this ignorance can’t be wiped out by reading
about it or talking about it. First we need to hear about it. (here ‘hear’ also
means reading). Then, we need to ‘Believe it’. Believe as in ‘it may be true’
so let’s work towards it. Next step is to meditate on it. And only when realize
through our own experience will we believe it! It’s so funny really! Someone says
there are 1,02,08,47,789 stars in the sky and we believe it and start quoting
it too but if (someone says or) you read “don’t touch-wet paint” you inevitably
touch to see if it’s true! Talks about our nature!
Likewise, someone says Dinosaurs existed millions
of years ago and we trust but someone (that someone is no ordinary material scientist
but the Great Seers – Sages who are our forefathers) say “you are divine and
there is no other than you”, “that which is – you are”- i.e., “thathvamasi” or “He
is one whom sages call by different names” ekam sadh vipra bahuda vadhanti
(Upanishads and Vedas) we don’t accept and live it. We say we believe it
sometimes but our behaviour is never projecting that ‘we
are Divine’ – it is that of ‘mortals’.
