The last three days are the days we do upasana of “Mother Saraswathi”. She blesses us with ‘Gnana Shakthi’. She is the Mother of learning and hence with Her grace we develop and then transcend ‘Sattvaguna’.

On the tenth day, having won over all of tamo, rajo and sattva guna, we celebrate it as ‘vijaya dashami’. It means it is the day we commemorate the victory of Goddess over demon Mahisha. (I am assuming you know the story of Mahishasura Mardini).

Now, what does it mean?

Rakshasa is not someone out there who died. It is the ‘demon within’ us who dies only after killing of ‘ten aspects’ – hence ten days of fighting. The ‘ten’ that needs to be killed are ‘five gnanendriya’ and ‘five karmendriya’. They are five organs of senses and five organs of action. Now, this is the rakshasha whose blood when it falls on ground, out of every drop of blood he springs back to life. It means if I kill or try to kill one desire to eat sweet, ten cravings for sweets would crop up. These senses and their effect are so powerful that they spring to life where they are killed. Only when ‘The Mother’ takes it and doesn’t let it drop on ground, it does not come back to life. And hence we ‘should’ have intent to drop our ‘weaknesses’. But before that we need to recognise their presence and accept that we have them. Then we need to understand that we are suffering because of our five demons – lust, anger, arrogance, attachment, envy and greed. The next step would be to surrender to Mother and seek Her grace to absolve us of all these nature.

I hear many telling ‘I surrendered Maam, but nothing is happening’.

Surrendrance doesn’t mean ‘stating it verbally’ and then ‘expecting Her to do all the work’. No. It means, the ‘intent’ should be to surrender and then we should do our part of healing and sadhan.

Word of caution:- Many students come to me stating “Guruji, our Master told us t hat we met with accident because of bad times or energies during Navarathri. Why should ‘WE’ be affected by these energies?”

Let me make it clear ‘once and for all’. Any statement, rule declared in my name by any Master should ‘NOT be BELIEVED’ and PUT INTO DUSTBIN’. Yes, any Master (except ONLY Murali Sir) who quotes me – ‘know quotes me wrong’. They use my ‘right rule’ in ‘wrong places’ and the result is ‘wrong picture of understanding’.
