Fate - how it works

….contd…

Fate - how it works!

When the path of two or more souls crosses at a point, they meet. For example, assume you are going from Hyderabad to Delhi (Cities in India) and the plane has stop over at Madras, Nagpur, Agra and Delhi. Some would get down at Madras and they were your co-passengers only till Madras. But few of them may take connecting flight from Madras to New York, ten to Saudi, and thirty to Singapore. Likewise, say 25 from Madras may board to Agra and fifteen to Nagpur and again seventeen to Delhi. The same thing happens at every airport.

Like-wise souls on their personal agenda with different starting points and destinations and with different reasons for travel meet and travel a certain period and place together because their paths cross and their journey is towards a common destination for a certain time. (I hope it’s clear. If it is confusing, please ask a question clearly explaining your doubt and I’ll try to explain to the best of my abilities).

In the same way, all souls on their personal journey cross each other’s path and travel together for a certain period of time – may be with a common cause like finding Site (by monkeys) and fighting for her etc. It’s very complex and not totally programmed. It depends on so many factors. Hence, Krishna says in Gita “every karma reaps its fruits, but which karma comes to the forefront and when, even I can’t tell Arjuna”. So, you can see how complicated this maze is. It is not linear. It is like multi-dimensional. For any single event to happen it’s not like in films – it’s not linear.

The nearest example of the workings of the Universe I can give is “the game of solitaire or chess” as played on a computer. The moment we play, the next move is made by the computer. The move of computer is decided for that move. But if I play differently then the move of computer is also different. Again even that is decided for that move of mine. All the games and all the moves and counter-moves are already on that computer. But depending on the game and my move, the game continues and ends.

All the games and moves being already fed in the Universe are ‘Destiny’ but which game I choose and how I play is my ‘free will’. I know it’s too complicated and so confusing. But, this is the best I can explain. If I’ve failed to explain, please revert to me. I’ll try again. Because unless you understand this, you can’t understand the question “so killing Ravana was the main agenda and others meeting is add-on…..?’ if you understand these two examples, that of film and game on computer then I need not give any answer to that question. Not only that you’ll understand how much goes into the working of this Universe and to fit in our desire and its fulfillment, how many moves have to be made before that wish is fulfilled. Once you understand the behind-the-scenes hard work, you’ll develop patience to wait for your desire to come true and gratitude will overflow through every pore of yourself – it need not be forced verbally. Then you wouldn’t ask “Should I again say ‘lines of gratitude’ before this intention?’. Once you understand this you’ll end up saying

“Tere rahamon karam ke kya kahane,

Haath uthnese pehle hi jholi bhar detha hai tu…”

How can I measure your grace?

You fill my cup to the brim even before me asking you for it….

On fate, destiny, attitudes and choices! – Me, my Guru

Contd....

On fate, destiny, attitudes and choices! – Me, my Guru

She completed her tea and said “Well, fate decides who we meet. That’s for sure! All our yesteryear actions, thoughts, desires, wishes, prayers are responsible for what and who we meet today in our life.

But, it is our heart that decides who we WANT in our life. And so, we chose some and work on our relationships with them. We chose to let go of others.

And finally, it is our attitude that decides who STAY in our life. We and we alone are responsible for people left in our life. Just as we are responsible for the people who leave our life.

Now, you decide how you want to place fate, attitude and emotions or heart in your life.” So saying, she left us to think for ourselves.

We got our answers. But these answers left us with more questions. But then, they were for an another day!

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Contd....

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

When they both reached their place Guru asked how his journey and stay were. The shishya narrated every incident of his journey and stay. When the shishya shared his joy of seeing rabbit and the bird saved, the Guru realized the Divine Grace and the Law of Karma more clearly.

Guru realized:

Our future is fluid. It is not certain. It can be changed with our attitude, karma, small acts of kindness and sadhan.

Any small act of kindness was applauded and appreciated by the Divine and the one who performed them was blessed accordingly!

But our acts can’t be orchestrated. They have to be spontaneous, pure and out of love to give a positive result.

He shared his vision and understanding with his shishya.

Shishya’s eyes were filled with gratitude and love for Guru. His Shraddha grew more and his sadhan became more intense. Soon, he became Enlightened!

So you see do all the good you can, at all the times you can and to all the people you can.

No good deed ever goes to waste! We never know how our good deeds come back to support or help us in our tough times” our Guru concluded this story with a smile that meant more than what we could decipher.

But we had this story to understand first.

So many of our questions were answered.

We got the “solution” to our problems and a way out of our “fearful situations” – but unfortunately it was left to us to put this to good use to see its benefit. That was the part we didn’t like. Why were we to do all the doing? Couldn’t our Guru just give our bounties to us just like that?

With no one to answer that question of ours, we left her place with mixed feelings. Today we received a lot!

And yet, we found ourselves empty!

Me, My Guru – On destiny and our choices!

Me, My Guru – On destiny and our choices!

Today, even before she could start our class, I asked her the long pending question of mind “But, if I am to be with the person who is sent into my life, like forever, then am I to suffer the injustice meted by the other who is in my life calling it my fate?”

I asked this question wanting her to say “No need to suffer with them. You can move on. I was so pissed off with the person, the so-called family that has cheated me say forever. I no longer wanted to be abused by them. I wanted to move on. And I felt it was my right to do so.

“Now, in this case, we need to revisit our understanding of fate once again. What is fate?" our Guru started. But, I expected it to be a two-word answer - "no need". But, here she was continuing her explanation "How does it come into effect? Well, for anything to happen, there should be a cause for it, right? Then, for fate to come into effect, the causes are as such:

a.
When we have thought or desired something in our life and wished for it to happen, it manifests in our life – it’s just that sometimes, or rather many times it happens much later in life, when we have almost or completely forgotten our wish.

b.     When we act out of choice. For example, if we choose to bring a child into our life, we have created a destiny for ourselves – that of losing our sleep for many years to come. We lose our carefree way of living. We lose our importance to our child in the family. So on and so forth. So you see, when you make a decision and act on it, the repercussions are called fate. “You asked for it” would fit right for this kind of karma!

c.

When we owe! People take money and conveniently forget it. That comes back as karma. In this category also comes money that is not paid or not paid in full in exchange for any service received.

Similarly, we owe to people their help, to Mother Earth for our existence, to our Pitrus – forefathers for our existence and lineage, our parents and family for our lineage and existence.

We also owe people the harm that we have done to them. If we have harmed anyone or have been hurt by others, we come back and meet each other to clear the slate of that harm. Like-wise with all emotions and feelings.

d.     When the people and situations in our life align with the soul agenda.

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Without questioning further he packed his meagre belongings and left towards his home.” – Most important quality that works wonders in protecting any one is “faith and respect” for the one who has your good in his heart. (here it being a Guru). Trust and that will protect you.

Protection can’t be demanded.

It is not an entitlement.

It is not your right (Reiki quota right).

But have trust (in real) and that is enough to protect you from any calamity.

Just a thought of being with his Guru soon sent shivers of happiness in his body. His body felt light. He was light on his feet too as he made in return journey.” – Coming to class, doing Reiki and being in sadhan when related this way then the story and the outcome is beyond anyone’s measure.

When we relate with anyone in our life this way, then no job seems boring, repetitive or heavy. Because love is missing in our relationships, we consider any “doing” as work and feel the pressure instead of pleasure in doing it for the other – be it parent, child, sibling or job.

Sit with this thought.

Know where the problem is.

Address it.

Overcome it.

Then life and duties that come with it will feel sooooo good!

Today we received a lot!

And yet, we found ourselves empty!” – This is the story of our life. We have everything and bountiful. YET, yet we found ourselves EMPTY. And so, we ran hither thither in search of that MISSING joy. We are searching in the wrong place. Hence, our search proves futile.

Know where to search, what to search and seek your right to your Kingdom!

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Contd....

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Years passed. Guru and shishya would be in sadhan all through the day and night too! Time was not taken in consideration by them.” Only the day one doesn’t feel the time has he actually become eligible to be walking the path of spirituality. All other times, he is just flaring his ego with imaginations and assumptions. Wake up! Know yourself. Face the facts! Declare war on them. And become free of these shackles that stop your flight!

Once during the meditations, Guru saw the death of his shishya in 7 days. He was shaken a bit. He meditated and regained his calm.” – There are two points here. One is that to the one who is regular in sadhan (drawing symbols to get bus, saying lines of gratitude 10-20 times a day don’t count as sadhan in such cases) will develop abilities like premonition, clairvoyance and so on.

Understand them correctly. I said “abilities” – read them as such only. They are not “powers” as usually assumed to be and talked as. They are just abilities that we get as collateral to our sadhan. They are not the be all of our sadhan. Know that!

Second, is Guru was shaken when he saw the vision. We want to “SEE” many things but are we ready to “SEE” them? Many times, a big no!

When such a time comes learn from the Guru. He didn’t run away. He didn’t start crying. He MEDITATED AND REGAINED HIS CALM. Whenever we are shaken, sadhan is the place to be. Go back to sadhan, regain your composure and then resume your job. Only after you gain your calm, take any decisions.

Don’t come calling me. Don’t be angry that I am not available at all odd times for you. I am not your private property. Sadhan is the ONLY way to get that calm. Even if I meet you or talk to you, I am going to ask you to do the same. But, no, you want me to DO REIKI for you. Till that nature stays with you, fear will toss you as it feels right. The problem is not the situation. Know that! The problem is that "there is fear". And that fear is within you. Know this. Accept it. And work on it. Heal it. Overcome it. Transcend it! Become free of fear! You don't need it - remember that!

Sadhan, sadhan, and more sadhan when shaken – REMEMBER THAT!

Me My Guru – on fate, destiny and karma

Shishya was overjoyed. Without questioning further he packed his meagre belongings and left towards his home. As he got down the hill, he saw a bird hurt and lying on the ground. His eyes were filled with tears. His heart filled with compassion he nursed the bird and saved it. He felt very happy when he saw the bird fly away.

As he continued his journey, he saw a wounded rabbit. He again waited to nurse the rabbit. The rabbit was saved. He resumed his journey happily now.

His family was happy to see him after such a long time. He spent goodtime with family and friends. Every day, he fed some ants before eating. One week later he took leave of his family and started his journey back to his Guru’s place. Just a thought of being with his Guru soon sent shivers of happiness in his body. His body felt light. He was light on his feet too as he made in return journey.

His Guru saw him climbing the hill from atop. His surprise and joy knew no bounds. He came running to meet his shishya. He hugged him and gave him fruits to eat.

When they both reached their place Guru asked how his journey and stay were. The shishya narrated every incident of his journey and stay. When the shishya shared his joy of seeing rabbit and the bird saved, the Guru realized the Divine Grace and the Law of Karma more clearly.
