End of year 2021

End of year 2021

This year had odd mix of events happening in our lives....

It's time we revisit this year for all that it has given us and taken away from us...

How are we going to remember this year?

What are we going to remember this year for?

Please re-visit previous years posts to do any or all of those activities once again this year too....

those who can will find it more rewarding than assumed....

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2017/01/new-year-resolutions.html

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2017/01/on-new-year-resolutions.html

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=year+end+of+2018

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2019/12/good-bye-2019.html

there are many more for those who wish to revisit them and relive your moments and exercises...do the same for this year too....

This year's exercise -

There are years in ones' life that ask questions and years that answer them...which year was this 2021 for you....???

Highlight 10 of your accomplishments and best memories

Name 10 of your missed opportunities, failures and regrets

State 3 of the unexpected events that changed your life's perspective, priorities and understanding.

At least name 3 things on which you put all or most of your focus on

Does this reflection give you clarity as to how and what to look forward to in this new year?

So what…mantras!

So what…mantras!

Image result for so what quotes

The New year 2020 has started.  We welcomed it with a bang! All those who partied hard on New Year's eve are still high on ‘party fever’. Good!

Those who did party at home with near and dear watching late night TV shows – Good for you too!

Those few of us who are sensible enough slept as usual – kudos to them!

Religious among us went to the temple assuming it to be a classic ‘good’ start.

Many of us made resolutions like every other year only to be ‘forgotten’ sooner than later!

Few of us took resolution not to take any resolution. Wow!

So much planning and action involved in sending away old year (as if it wouldn’t go if not sent this way?!) and welcoming new year (would it not come otherwise?!)………

And yet within a fortnight or two we find ourselves in the old rut of boredom, same old feelings and same old emotions. Sad?  Yes but true!

Image result for so what quotes

To overcome those age old feelings of loneliness, pain, self pity etc etc let me give you a mantra as a New Year Gift ….”SO WHAT !” MANTRA

What is this mantra and how and where to use it?

Good bye 2019

Good bye 2019!

One more year has passed by. One more year that has passed by that made us rich with achievements, comforts, lessons, understanding and joy. One more to remember by…

This year also has kept pending few unfinished tasks.

Image result for dreams quotes

The ‘to do list’ is still kept alive by this year.

We still have few dreams to chase.

Image result for dreams quotes

We have yet to cross few mile stones to achieve this coming year.

Not all of our desires were addressed/fulfilled by this year.

Image result for dreams quotes

We bid good bye to few in our lives. We welcomed few new ones into ours.
With so much old gone and new coming in, there is still something that is same in us and in our lives……….!

Revisit old memories and look back at life as it was! https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=new+year+resolutions

And then sum up this year the way you see it!

And in your diaries write your next year’s target and dreams to chase!

Image result for dreams quotes
And before you start complaining saying  ‘yes, I understand what you are saying but, X is not fulfilled or not right…” go back to your list of blessings, achievements etc etc and marvel and be grateful for all that you achieved and have inspite of what you still don’t have!
Remember if every wish is fulfilled and no dreams to chase then there would be no need for us to exist. We are till we have some unfulfilled agenda ONLY. So thank every milestone yet to be reached. Thank every dream that needs to be chased. Every desire that needs to be fulfilled for we are till they are!

Let’s heal the way we healed for our previous desires (to manifest) and work on our present desires and needs.

Image result for dreams quotes

We have still miles to go before we sleep……

So I repeat, like always  sum up this year the way you see it!(like you did previous years...)

And in your diaries write your next year’s target and dreams to chase!

New Year Resolutions!

Contd….

New Year Resolutions

-          Stop procrastinating and start living ‘NOW’. All those that you wanted to do since long like go on a hiking, camp, safari, visit an old friend or an old age home, get in touch with some lost touch relative, read a book (long pending), try that new recipe, pick up a hobby etc, do it now. Write these little ‘to dos’, stick it on your mirror, save as your ‘screen’ on phone and do that this year.
-          Use the technology to your benefit and growth. Don’t let that rob you of your life, time, energy and peace of mind. Do you have to be on all those 10-15 groups of whatsapp? Official needed, agreed! But didn’t you notice that in all those groups the same message keeps circulating and then why do you end up forwarding the same once more? If you can’t be away from ‘all those groups’ at least stop forwarding all that you receive including funny videos and jokes too. Save your breathe for your well-being rather than ‘scatter it’ on all and sundry. Use technology. Don’t become its slave. Be its master!
Make small changes and see bit effects in your life – this year!

On New Year resolutions….

On New Year resolutions….

-          Learn to appreciate the “simple nothings” of life say like watching sunrise and sunset, birds flying or any of their activity, a lazing cat, conductor going about his work especially – during rush hours, ducks swimming, people sweeping the roads, puffing of rotis (Indian bread), cool breeze – all such normal, simple and routine stuff. Life is ‘lived in such moments’. They are in millions – live them and enrich your life. Don’t just wait for “that desire to b fulfilled” or for that ‘perfect moment’. Make every single moment special by living it.

-          Pick up a hobby

-          Decide to visit say atleast 4-5  places this year. If finance is the constraint, there are tones of places worth a visit just few hours drive from Hyderabad (or any place of your stay). Don’t belittle these short, sweet and inexpensive trips.

On New Year resolutions….

contd...

On New Year resolutions….

But the majority holds others responsible for their pain and suffering and since their belief is so strong they hardly make an effort in changing. The change for such people is very painful and very slow too! They rot in the making of their own hell! These people just expect people to believe that others are cause of their suffering in their lives! So nothing there to alleviate them of their pain and suffering! But for those who wish to take charge of their lives, make resolutions with these things in mind.

1
.       Whatever be the area of resolution let it be achievable and of simple steps :
-          If you are a person who wakes up at 7am daily then make a resolution to get up at say 6.30am or 6.45 am instead of 3 am or 5 am.
-          If you have your house or office in a high rise building then climb one or two floors and then take an elevator
-          Like-wise get down couple of floors and then take an elevator. If your office is at 2nd floor – DON’T take the elevator at all – unless you are sick
-          Start with 5 mts exercise daily twice a day if not doing exercise at all.
-          Increase it to 10 mts after a month and lo! Before long you would be regular and doing ½ an hour exercise daily
-          Same with pranayamam – breathing exercise
-          Before heaving tea make a list of to – dos of the day and at the end of the day write atleast 3 things you are grateful for in your journal. Yes, as told to you repeatedly maintain a journal for things you are grateful for! Later slowly you can also write 3 things that brought smile on your lips during the day/ you are proud of doing or achieving/ wish that came true/ benchmark that you ear marked and met/ experience that you cherish of today/ lessons learnt/ weaknesses overcome or handled person/ situation in a better way etc.

On New Year resolutions….

These are the people who bring about simple, regular changes in life-styles, mental make-up and above all, sadhan (if Reiki channel and if healer in any other healing modality). These people would make conscious effort to change the way they think at least in the major area of their life and take charge of their life. These are the people to whom every year becomes better then the last. Not because of the comforts or ease in their lives but because of the increase in their mental strength and change in mental make-up, attitude and internal strength.

These are the people who believe and live their belief which says “I am responsible for what I attract in life and by changing myself I can bring about change in what I attract in my life”.

But the majority holds others responsible for their pain and suffering and since their belief is so strong they hardly make an effort in changing. The change for such people is very painful and very slow too! They rot in the making of their own hell! On New Year resolutions….

But a person who just enjoys or celebrates till the wee-hours does feel the high of celebrations for sometime as he receives “likes” for his photos on social media but also falls back within no time into the mundane of dreary boring painful routine. He is disappointed that ‘even this year did not bring about the change that he desired since long’. The majority fall under this category who experience high with every change in place, vacation, celebration and experience the fall with the thud into their ‘usual suffering abysmal hell’.

No change of calendar, place or people can bring any positive change in these peoples’ lives. Sad but true!

Few are also those sensible ones who look to this day as an excuse to sit and recollect their thoughts, journey, lessons learnt, memories and achievements made, plans executed, fights fought and won. In short, they look within to understand their strengths and weaknesses, qualities developed and  weaknesses won over thereby start the New Year with the clarity of thought filled with their knowledge of self, which in turn helps them to know which area they need to work on and which are the strengths developed that they can cash on. With this know-how, when they celebrate New
Year, they know they are bidding goodbye to the year gone by which has enriched them in so many ways. This celebration is a way of gratitude where they say ‘good bye’ and welcome next year with heart full of hope, determination and with action plan and tools (the know- how of strengths and weaknesses). This way it is not an empty party but a ‘kick-start’ towards next mile-stone of life. Unlike the majority these people don’t think New Year means ‘change’ towards happiness. Their expectations are sensible, practical and hence achievable. For them New Year is just a continuation of the past but with adjustments made to alter towards the desired changes in life.

On New Year resolutions….

On New Year resolutions….

आस ने कहा सब्र कर मैं तो मिटठा चला ,
सब्र ने कहा दिल थाम ले मैं तो चलता बना।

Hope said “have patience for I am leaving”,
patience said “hold your breath for I am dying”

In today’s world, there are more excuses than before to be sad, frustrated and hopeless. Thanks to ads and access to have peak into celebrity and high end weddings and celebrations, we have more reasons to doubt validity of our simple joys and pleasures of life and more reasons to feel bad for self.

Inspite of technological advancement, we need to rely on films to discover our ‘Mohan Bhargavas, Mountain man, Sonam wanghchuk and such people. For every Mohan Bhargav we have hundreds of Sindhu tai (who is called ‘mother of orphans), Jadav Payeng (the forest man), Chewang Norphel and so many of them working silently, selflessly and bringing about huge change in the world around them. But we are more exposed to hate videos and destructive news than constructive and pro-active news! That too early in the morn! No doubt, we are wallowing in self-doubt, frustration, fear, hatred, stress and loads of negativity. So, New
Year Celebrations come as a beautiful excuse to make resolutions that would build our lives around hope and happiness!  New Year and such group celebration carry with them group or mass euphoria that is easy to pick up and get used to effortlessly. Hence, though it is just another day and no special day as per our culture (it applies to every culture where other culture other than English culture is followed), it is still a good excuse to revamp, rethink and recharge our thoughts around constructive and pro-active action rather than blaming and holding others responsible for our state and happiness!

On new year’s resolution Me, my Guru

...contd....

Regarding resolutions – well once you decide on your resolutions, have a print-out taken and stick it on your bathroom door, your wardrobe door, on the work desk, in kitchen, on the handle of your vehicle, as a screen saver in laptop – well about as many places as possible to have a remainder given to you by yourself through the day.

Next, stick to that resolution. For eg., you make a resolution to walk/exercise for 30mts daily. Good! Next we find we are not able to keep up our promise even for a week. Do we feel bad or whip ourselves with guilt? No. Instead do it. You cannot do it if the time is 30 mts. Make a resolution for 30mts but go on a walk for 5mts. Yes, just 5 mts is enough. If you don’t do it completely you are sending wrong signal to yourself but if you do – however little, you are ‘still doing’ and that’s what counts.

Climb down just one flight of stairs (I mean one floor only). No problem – but do it. Skip only 5 times. Ok. Do it. So you are doing exercise for 5 mts.

Good enough! I think you can do this much daily without fail for sure! Now after one month just increase the time by 2-5mts. That all! There’s no hurry. Next a month or two later again increase by 2-5mts and so on. Before long you would live your resolution effortlessly. For big changes to happen, you just have to take small steps – one a time slowly maybe but continuously. That’s all!

Like-wise, make a resolution to do full-body daily. Then do atleast 2 points in office and 2 at home, 2 at bedtime and one on bed before getting up. Next day, do the points you have missed. Lo, your full body is done. See it’s all about thinking differently. That’s all!

Resolve to live atleast ‘5 mts in the moment’ – a la’ ‘il dolce far niente’ moment. Just watch the sunrise, sunset, sky, birds, children playing, chaos in traffic, dogs fighting, boss shouting, colleague dozing off in office – just about any 5 mts – just watch – no judgements, no analysis, no opinions – just watch with the smile on your face. And rest assured, your next year’s ‘grateful, happy, thankful and wonderful moments list’ would be longer and with more beautiful memories”.

We all started writing as she left us for the day......

The list was getting bigger and bigger and so was our smile. It was such a nice feeling to put all that on paper. As papers got filled, we realized we had pushed all such beautiful moments to the back of our psyche and up on the forefront was the never reducing list of ‘my unfulfilled desire/wish/want’ which had just about 2 to 4 in it, but it had taken whole of me in it. As we wrote down and then exchanged it with others, we remembered what we didn’t consider as a blessing (which someone else did!) and added to our list. The bigger it got going, happier and excited we became and all felt more energetic and healthier. She didn’t give anything without such huge benefits at stake! Yes, it was easy to be happy, contended and at peace – not to forget being healthy and in good frame of mind if we actually followed the exercises she asked us to! Our laziness took away all our joys! Glad it didn’t win this time and in the process we won self-esteem and overcame our depression and defeatist attitude.

We immediately sent SMS and e-mails to all our friends – both in India and abroad and asked them to send their report to ‘her mail’ in a day or two. We wanted to make a booklet of gratitude and memories – which would have only our list of gratitude, thankyous and memories list in it. We were sure that in others list too we would either find one of our own or an inspiration to create one. This would increase the reiki we would send to all who shared with us atleast for few days to come and thereby we all would receive more reiki from each other which is actually so very good on so many accounts. It does pay to be a part of a group-session indeed!
The year that went by left behind various packets of joy but it certainly did end with a wonderful blast of fire-works! We were glad we asked her this question. She like many times before didn’t exactly what we hoped for or were looking for! But she gave us all that we needed to string together our dreams. And also all that that took us to fulfill them. Were we  sincere enough towards our dreams to work for them? Did we have wisdom enough to choose the right path? Well, we had to wait till end of next year to see that, I suppose.....

Concluded.........
