Me, my Guru – on valuing right!

Me, my Guru – on valuing right!

“If you want to be happy, just follow 3 simple rules.
Rule no. 1 : Stop using people and loving things!
Rule no. 2 : Love people and use things!” our Guru said.
“And what is rule no. 3?” asked me.
“Never interchange the above two rules”.
We all laughed. It seemed simple then. But later as we sat on those words, it actually hit us. This usually happens with us with almost all of her words and actions. We don’t understand or we misinterpret them then and only much later (I mean only if we are in sadhan and thinking about her word or action) do we see the actual import of her words.
They don’t mean what we assume them to mean, they mean what they mean”

And to just get that, well it took years of sadhan, introspection, patience, perseverance on bettering self, commitment to be happy, balanced, loving and successful inspite of people and situations in life. Wow, that’s quite a list! And to look and go through that today looks doable and work of doing. But when we started, all this looked like a ‘mirage’. I remember so many of us coming to her crying, shouting, complaining, disappointed and being adamant about how we wanted  our issues to be fixed in our lives. We just wanted a ‘magic’ to clear all the nonsense from our lives and so wanted to have a fairy tale solution and ending. She didn’t give us one. Now we realized no one could! But she didn’t

judge us either. She patiently listened to our woes dozen to a score and then gave us a wand called ‘Reiki’ to use. She remained us to use it again and again. This wand was no harrypotter wand that could give quick-fix solutions but it did introduce us to a ‘mirror’ called ‘self’. Then we didn’t understand how by looking at ourselves and working on our reflection, we could right the wrong of our lives. It didn’t make sense then. It still doesn’t to people like me. But I understand know one thing for sure – it works for sure! In one of our early classes she said, “We create and reflect our world”. She said it so matter-of-factly. And we took more than 15years in this journey to get it. Today, we see that to effect. The more we changed for better, the more people in our life change. She was right in saying “no good would come of changing people (and her favourite quote here was /men may come and men

may go but your suffering would go on forever) in your life. Just change yourself and see them transform as people you desire to share your life with”. It seems like a good hard job but trust me, it’s worth it at the end of the day. A good many stopped mid-day. And the rest who kept up with this task and stuck to her have reaped benefits which can’t be stolen or damaged by anyone. And these benefits had far reaching benefits than just being a quick-fix of doing temporary plastic surgery to our problems. We transformed as humans and thereby the energy that we were generating was so near to the way we desired for events and people in our lives and hence we experienced life the way we desire! Phew! So simple now and yet so difficult to comprehend then….
