In the funeral - A short story

Contd....

In the funeral

And in the ambulance the woman was shouting in pain but there was no where that ambulance could move forward. The nurse and the ward boy felt helpless and then as they waited, the time came and they delivered ‘a child’ then and there. Holding that ‘miracle’ of a child in their hand they cried. They welcomed a life today!

They heard some shout slogans and looked out of the window. The van carrying the corpse was passing by. That was life that passed by. And here was life that came in their hands. They didn’t talk. Nothing happened and yet...yet they felt enlightened on life! They saw the wheel of life in its totality today. Life came, life left. It was a wave that never stopped. It was like a baton that was being passed on from one to another all along! It never stopped – for anyone. It kept moving. That was life! There was an ebb here and a tide there...it flowed. The stream of life danced right in front of their eyes and they cried.
It was beautiful.
It was eternal.
It was moving and that was life!

The celebrity did seem to have ‘touched life’ like no one!

And the funeral procession moved on.....
Concluded....
