Old woman with rice – Stories and all!
Once a student asked his Guru “How did you develop so many noble
qualities and how long did it take?”
Guru smiled and pointed at an old lady sitting in front of her hut and
said “It is very simple. I learnt it from her” so saying he went into silence.
Not knowing what to do, the student went to see that old lady. She was
very frail, very old but yet had cleaned a bag full of rice and was still to
clean couple of bags more. Forgetting why he had come there, he asked her “Granny,
you are so old and frail. How could you clean so much of rice?” to which, the
old lady replied “I didn’t clean this whole rice. I just removed few stones
present in that bag of rice. The bag of rice became clean automatically!”
The student smiled at the simplicity of the solution.
Sometimes when we change our perception, we realize the problem that
seemed monumental was after all a child’s game!
The more we complicate the issue, the solution looks even more complex
and impossible to solve. But the moment we simplified the issue, it many times
resolved itself! Answers stare at us almost always – if only we were open to
see them!
