Is it good or bad?

Well, it's good or bad depends on whom you've chosen as a Guru - is it the right person or wrong?

How do I know the right from wrong?

Who is a 'wrong' Guru?

There are different types of 'wrong' Gurus :

1.  The Deceptive Ones - These are the most dangerous of the lot of 'wrong' Gurus.  They are experts in parrotting right statements/quotations/stories heard or read to others.  Yes, I say parrotting because, they are shallow with regards to understanding their own sentences or stories.  They don't have actual knowledge or experience to back their statements. 

Next, they just teach but never ever follow what they teach.  For eg., they talk hightly of 'forgiveness' and not being jealous but can't follow it themselves.  They carry only hatred for even thier near and dear ones and venor for one and all!  Such types at the most can be called as 'Teachers' and not 'Preachers' and a Guru preferably should be a Preacher - one who follows what he says or teaches.

They may smile a lot and say 'Be Peaceful', 'Trust in HIM', 'Be Happy' but personally can never be at peace, happy or surrender to the WILL of the Lord.

They are ever afraid that others would come to know of their weaknesses and hence use various methods to rule others with guilt, pain, anger and such feelings.
