The minister pulled himself up and started pulling the twine thread gently. After sometime, he could get hold of the rope. Holding the rope he got down the tower. He and his wife slipped out of the town in the silence of the night and lived happily ever after…….

How is this story related to our topic? The minister could save himself and could take care of his wife too out of a situation from which there seemed to be no way out. How?
As his name suggests, ‘Sthirabudhi’ – One whose intellect is ‘sthira’ or calm and poised was calm even in the time of emergency.

1. A calm mind can easily see the solution in the midst of chaos.

2. It takes a calm mind to take stock of the situation completely, weight the pros and cons of it and to think of the solution.

3. In case of emergency, usually we get agitated, tensed and worry a lot. Thereby we create new problems instead of finding a solution.

4. During tension, the number of thoughts that we generate is so much so that that itself blinds our clarity of thought.

How is pronayamam connected to calm mind and clarity of thought?

Observe yourself closely. We breathe slowly when we are calm and palpitate when we are tensed. That shows breathe and the state of mind are interrelated. The state of mind and the thoughts are interrelated. Pranayamam calms the breathe. It slows the breath. We become consciously aware of the breath and are able to regulate it. This simple exercise gives us an understanding bye and by that life moves on even when we are not aware of it. We need to just participate by being an observer of it.

Next, the regulated breath in turn slows the number of thoughts generated. Less the thoughts in our mind, more our mind is calmer. More our mind is calmer, less is the stress that we experience. Less stressed we are, more active and energetic we are. More active and energetic we are, more we can participate in life and thereby celebrate life completely. So, to live life to the fullest extent, pranayamam is the easiest and the most effective technique available on the face of earth.

Not to forget the physical wellness that comes with it. So many diseases that couldn’t be cured by the medical world have been cured with pranayamam. It betters our eye-sight too apart from the general health. Brings cheer to our personality and glow to our skin. Greying of hair is postponed or done away with by doing pronayamam. Try pranayamam to actually believe all this. Just for six months at a stretch. Not comfortable with it – then after six months just leave it. No Questions asked.

So why delay? Start right away while I write down next post….

Me, My guru - On essence - Bhagavatam

...contd....

‘Sat karmon se sat sangh bhala’.

‘Company of pious and noble souls is better than good deeds’.

Good company or the company of pious and devotees of Gods is thousand times better than a good or noble deed.

Now it so happened that Sage Vashista and Sage Vishwamitra had an argument where Sage Vashista declared that ‘company of pious and pure, noble souls and true devotees of lord’ is far better than ‘sadhan’. Sage Vishvamitra who had risen to the level of Rishi i.e., seer didnot agree on that account and said that ‘only sadhan was the highest souls especially when compared to company of pious souls and devotees of Lord’.

To resolve their fight, they approached ‘Adishesha’ the serpent-king and the bed of Lord Vishnu. In reply he said “I can’t think straight while holding this heavy earth on my head. Please hold it on my behalf as i do some thinking on this issue”.

Sage Vishwamitra immediately exchanged his 1000 years of tapas-shakthi  (power of penance) for holding it for just half a second and then gave it to Sage Vashista.

Sage Vashishta just exchanged half a second of punya-karma (merits earned) of his satsang to holding the earth for 1000 years. Later when Sage Vishwamitra asked Adisesha as to what his verdict was, he replied “Isn’t it obvious that your 1000 years of penance power could match not even half a second of merit earned in company of noble souls’. They both left satisfied with the answer.

Now, that doesn’t mean that we stop doing noble deeds and instead go in search of noble souls so that we get ‘punya karma’ (rewards of good deeds) by simply being in their company.

This one act of Dhritarashtra earned him his merit to have a ‘darshan’ or vision of Lord in his glorious form.

Understand this point correctly here. His ‘good deed’ of being in company of ‘noble and pure soul and an ardent devotee of’ Krishna gave him sight to see the vision, but they get exhausted with that mercy. Moreover, his attitude hadn’t changed and as already told millions of time and attitude is the deciding factor is our destiny.

To understand it better read link given on attitude and character and destiny“http://kantipadam.blogspot.insearch?q=character+and+destiny

And that gets changed only with our effort in the form of some sadhan like hands-on, pranayamam, meditation etc. To understand these techniques read link http://kantipadam.blogspot.in/search?q=meditation for meditation

Further to little things to do during quarantine

Pranayamam : Many have various excuses to not do pranayamam. It is proven fact that it is most powerful way to beat any 'air borne' disease - powerful and effective than the most modern medicines. And yet....

do the various kinds of pranayamam daily at least for 1/2 an hr

a.kapalbharati

b.anulom vilom

c.bhasrika

d.ujjaiyi

e. sheetali

f. deep breathing

(already taught 100 times in class. Convenient for all to get away with ' yes maam, but forgot - can you repeat or explain? Answer is check with internet....)

(P.S : Every excuse that a person makes reflects the flaw in his character and also where it is! So use your excuse, look into it and know where your problem area is and get healed)

For those who have excuses to not do :

Buy a balloon packet of 100 birthday balloons and make them into 4 parts.

Give each part to one member of the family.

Let each member blow his set of 25 balloons. Time it. collect your balloon and keep it in your own slot.

DON'T MIX UP BALLOONS WITH ONE ANOTHER.

Do it at least twice a day.

# putting quarantine to good use, how best to use covid, breakdown situations, life in all its colours,

The mantra chanting yagna starts today and ends on 31st May 2021. Write down your goal no. of malas and action plan to work it out.

Appreciate people who are chanting 'as a form of gratitude'.

People always get back with 'I did chanting and yet my XY desire didn't get fulfilled....' - in short come back with complain.....

nice to see people who are grateful instead of complaining and cribbing in life...

any one who learns to 'SEE' right finds every reason to be grateful in life and for life.........That is all that is to learn....all other things follow suit....

P.S. : I have already told it in class and through various ways that I am not going to communicate through any mode of 'communication' for min. of 3-4 months and yet.........

which part of this statement is difficult to understand?

Hopefully - i repeat hopefully i MAY (ONLY May not for sure!!) start communicating from say somewhere after August......but again this is tentative only......till then only blog posts will be written by me....

Pranayamam:

Simply understood – it’s “Breathing the right way”. It is the air that sustains us. It is the same air which is responsible for the quality of blood circulation in our system. But, many times, many of us are found breathing wrong. How?

Just observe the stomach as you breathe in and breathe out. Stomach goes in as we inhale and it goes out as we exhale. But when air is blown into the balloon it expands and as air goes out of it, it shrinks in size. Right?

The same philosophy should apply to stomach. But, it is not happening so. Which means we are breathing wrong. So, we sit and consciously breathe in and breathe out and this procedure is called ‘Pranayamam’.

Now the question is "What does taking care of this vehicle called body actually mean and how does it benefit me?" "Does it mean that if I take good care of my body, then I will never fall sick?"

Taking good care of the body doesn’t mean –
-Applying expensive creams and colouring it or parts of it, beautifying it with piercing, tattooing and clothing and accessories certainly DON’T come under this category. They are like adding extra – fittings to our car/vehicle – like mirror, painting some figures on the vehicle, etc. That suits the eye but it’ll not reflect on the vehicle’s performance.

ONLY servicing, oiling it filling it with diesel/petrol such acts make a difference in the vehicle’s performance.

Likewise, few tips that go a long way in maintaining this body are:

A. “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy if not wise for sure!”

B. Right kind of food is eaten – green vegetables, sprouts, fruits and vegetables, instead of deep fries and drinks that are harmful to the body especially the aerated drinks.

C. Breathe properly. Breath is the basis of life and the stomach should expand when inhaled and should contract when exhaled. Many times it’s the other way round. Proper breathing ensures good oxygen supply through blood to all body parts and thereby good health is a possibility. To attain this start with pranayamam – deep breathing daily at least 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the night and see the benefits in the weeks to come not only on your physical self but also on your emotional self.

a. Sit in a comfortable position.
b. Preferably do it early in the morning or before eating anything or in empty stomach.
c. If after lunch/dinner give a gap of 3 hours for the food to be digested and then proceed with Pranayamam.
d. Take a deep breath.
e. Let it fill your entire abdomen.
f. Do it slowly.
g. Exhale gently.
h. Don’t pressurize yourself to do for long hours at the start.
i. Be relaxed and let the breath guide you gently to calmness.
j. After 15 minutes just breathe normally with eyes closed and sit calmly for few minutes – as long as you wish.
k. Rub your eyes with both your palms. Open your eyes.

follow this tips till I get back to you with few more in the next post....

take care...

Buddha poornima

….contd…..

“But maam, you’ve said so many times that there is nothing as good or bad. Everything is right. Then why are you saying that it is wrong or bad now? And why are you getting angry now?”

Yes, even now I say there is nothing wrong in saying “hi Guruji”. But just that what you desire you can’t get with that way of greeting because the energy that this greeting generates is so not the one that you desire to experience. And hence my lecture! And I am not angry. I am just asking you not to do this because I know your words and actions are negating that. That’s all!

Hope I am clear now!

What to do now to get Guru in my life?

Starting from Guru poornima, Chaturmas has started. Read link (http://kantipadam.blogspot.in/search?q=chaturmas&max-results=20&by-date=true  ) of chaturmas to understand about it.

During these four months, increase your sadhan. And that would be:
Do hands-on regularly
Do pranayamam and meditations regularly.
(read link regarding sadhan to know more about them http://kantipadam.blogspot.in/search?q=preventive+measures

Do japam.
Have a number and decide to do japam of that number in these four months.
Take up a pooja and do regularly like abhishekam for shivling every Monday. Office goers can do any pooja on Sunday. Don’t feel disheartened. Do any pooja, anyday as often as you can. That is important. Not the kind of pooja or to whom done. You can also do pooja of your ‘aradhya dev’  in these four months.

You can take up reciting some shlokas atleast once/week these four months like vishnusahasranam(or any shlok that you can) say on Friday (or any other day of your convenience). You can read these shlokas even while travelling or in office or any other place. Recitation is of importance and not the place. Just remember that.

I am just giving an example. Do what pooja or shloka you know or want to do. It’s equally good. Doing is important, that’s all!

Do agnihotram as often as possible. Make a commitment to do it say atleast thrice/week and stick to it.

read the link given to understand on various aspects of sadhan http://kantipadam.blogspot.in/search?q=pranayamam

every link may have couple of repeated posts...i am sorry about that inconvenience. To avoid that i was earlier posting only dates but i believe it wasn't convenient for many and as per your request i have posted the link......every act as pros and cons...can't help....

pranayamam

Hopefully, you all have practiced ‘pranayamam’ and also enjoyed its benefits. Now, it’s time to understand how it will be useful in bringing about our well-being both physically and emotionally, in dropping our acquired self & understanding SELF ultimately.

Once in a town called ‘Simhapuri’ lived a minister called ‘Sthirabudhi’. One fine day, the king of that town ordered Sthirabudhi to be executed for some wrong he did not do. He was ordered to be imprisoned in a tower which did not have any staircase or possible way of escape. He was left to himself, as everyone felt he could not escape from that tower.

His wife came and cried her heart out. She knew her fate was sealed as her husband had no way to prove his innocence. Her husband shouted from the window in the tower “Don’t cry. Just follow what I am asking you to do and by God’s grace we both can go out of this town for good by tomorrow morn”. She was surprised. She asked how it was possible. He simple asked her to bring an ant, a small bottle of honey, a bundle of silk thread, a bundle of twine thread, a bundle of rope. She found it odd but bring she did.

When she brought it after couple of hours, Sthirabudhi asked her to tie a silk thread to the ant. The silk thread was tied to the twine thread and that to the rope. The antennae of the ant was dipped in honey. Now the ant was asked to be placed facing sky wards on the wall of the tower.

The ant moved forward longing for honey. The silk thread moved along with it. When the ant went near the window, the minister untied the ant from the silk thread, held it and pulled it gently till he could get hold of the twine thread……..

It took long time and he was tired a bit, so took some rest,

We’ll also take some rest and come back in the next post to see what happens….

Beginner's must know tips

All that you needed to make a brand new good beginning

As all journey starts at the very beginning, so does our journey towards a purpose, blissful and meaningful life start at the beginning or the starting point of our journey. And our journey’s starting point is the Thought. How? Well, the task of converting a mortal of mud into pure gold starts with the right raw material used for the purpose. As we all very well know any finished good is what it is or what it turns out to be because of the quality and the quantity of the raw materials used. For e.g.: wooden furniture can’t be made out of a clay mould just as a clay pot can’t be made from a lump of gold. The raw materials are the only deciding factor in the final product of the matter. Just the same FATE or DESTINY is just the final product. FATE is our present that we are living, experiencing and suffering/enjoying (as the case may). But it has been long before projected by a single thought of ours.

“I have long before lived all the moments in my thoughts”- Swami Chinmayananda.

GOD first thought, then uttered “OM” and the world came into being. He has made a replica of himself in Man. The creative abilities of His are also passed on to the Man in the Order of Thought, feel, word and Action. That means, every thought is the seed of my probable future. I nurture it further with similar or repeated thoughts. Then it is coloured with emotions and fed further with words. Each thought stays with us in our system as a Psychic Impression. Set of psychic impressions is what constitutes our Belief systems. Belief system in turn determine our habit. Our habits form the basis for our Character and the Character is the determining factor of our fate. And the FATE started with every Single Thought.
“Ke sera sera” - “As you think, you shall be.”

So, let’s work on our dear thoughts that arise dozen/second.

Now the next good question is how do I change the course of my thoughts or the way I think? Well,

a) Pranayamam is the easiest and the best way to bring awareness to the present Moment. Pranayamam automatically shifts our focus to the Moment. Thereby reducing the flow of thoughts and also its travel to past and future as such speeds.

b) Bring Awareness to every Act of yours. Whatever you do, even as you read this blog just ‘be Aware’ that you are reading this blog. Just be Aware of your eyes, of your breath, the colour and the backdrop of the blog. Just Be! As you practice it through the day, you will notice the effect it has on you. Initially, you may not be Aware for more than a minute or two. But still keep doing it. You’ll flow with the events and then again remember that you need to be Aware. Then be Aware of whatever you are doing then. This simple exercise has tremendous results. It empowers you in a strange new way. Experience it to believe it.

c) The simple tip to be Aware more often is stick at every place – kitchen, sink, doors, back of doors, on phone, on T.V., cupboards -on and inside, washbasin- just about everywhere a sticker that simply says “BE AWARE NOW!”.

d) Drop the Belief Systems that bind you. Doubt your Beliefs till you know for sure to believe your beliefs. Every thought that we generate is the outcome of some Belief System. No, (that you just uttered) also is coming out of a Belief System that what I believe is the only right thing. So on and so forth!

e) Meditation is the only way to gather our thoughts and heal all the psychic impressions that we have gathered.

f) Last but the most Important is “Sadhan, Sadhan and more Sadhan”. And one Sadhan that beats all is “HANDS ON EVERY DAY – FULL BODY OF 24 POINTS”.

These simple techniques can help us to grow towards our Maintenance Free state of existence. A state which doesn’t get effected by the laws of karma and the nature.

The product that is Maintenance Free and comes with life time guarantee and with no need for parts replacement and if need be immediate and full replacement guaranteed is a dream product for all of us. A Ready Reckner

Inspite of following preventive measures, we end up having a flat tyre. Then instead of analyzing and shouting or resorting to blame game, we need to fix the tyre immediately. This is called as Break down Maintenance. When the problem is right in front of you, just fix it. Don’t sit and contemplate on it. Later we can dig at the cause and fix it for long term benefit. But for now just fix it! This is the concept of Break down maintenance.

The difference between PM and BDM is that BDM is resorted to when the damage is already done. It is about fixing the immediate issue at hand. Whereas PM is to work at the cause which cause break down even before Break down happens. It helps in avoiding delays, break-downs, accidents happening out of negligence.

PM in spiritual life helps one to –
- lead a stress free life
- charting out events from such that breakdowns are minimized or totally done away with
- avoid accidents from happening or if so then to minimize the effect it has on the person

As all of you are pretty clear about Maintenance Free, Prevention Maintenance and Break down Maintenance, let me give a ready reckoner for the same.

· draw shield first thing in the Morning
· programme your entire day
· prog. Your every event of day
· reiki box
· work on your attitudes
· exchange healing experiences with other healers

for Issues related with Relationship :

· homan
· Vasthu healing

I sign off for today,

With love

Pranayamam should be done atleast 15 mts/day preferably the same time. Deep breathe-in and breathe-out technique can be done at any part of the day – say few times to remind the system the right way of breathing.

For this, sit in a comfortable place. Early morning is ideal. Otherwise, any part of the day is fine but should be done after 2 hrs of taking meal.

Procedure is :

- Relax. Close your eyes.
- Breathe in very very slowly. As slowly as you can.
- Hold the breathe for few seconds.
- Now exhale as slowly as possible.
- Do this for atleast 15 mts / day.

Initially, one would be able to take in air only till lungs may be. But, no issues. Remember, over the period of time the air should reach the abdomen.

After doing it for 15 mts, feel the calmness that engulfs you. Don’t hurry to open your eyes. You’ll be engulfed by the silence from within. Be with it. Enjoy it till it lasts – say 10 mts or so. And then, rub your palms on your eyes, forehead and very gently open your eyes. Feel the calmness that fills you. Observe the difference this has made in your entire day.

Do it daily to actually feel the difference in your physical well-being, emotional well-being and internal calmness that seems to envelop you all through the day…..

Be with it till I write further posts……

Me, My Guru – on disturbed mind

 Contd....

Me, My Guru – on disturbed mind

We were silent. We were processing her words. We were looking at our actions. When our mind said “My MIL said this” immediately I would jump in to support it with proofs.

When mind said “but how can she behave so?” I would join it and eventually get angry.

My mind would say “but, what about future?” again I would experience fear based on my assumptions. My mind with its questions made me go from ego to fear to pain to suffering.

It was a vicious circle. It took me on a roller-coaster ride. Once I sat on it, I didn’t get down. It carried me down the gutter. And I suffered – all because I got carried with my mind – not because of what my mother-in-law/kid did. It was not because of my financial insecurity/reason.

Our Guru came back and sat down. Even before she could settle we pounced on her with our questions “Guruji, tell us a technique to stop this chatter”.

Our Guru smiled and said “Do pranayamam. Those of you who can’t for any reason whatsoever – do deep breathing atleast for 15mts. Do anulom vilom (breathing through alternate nostrils) for 15 mts. Then do Bhasrika (where you close your eyes, ears, mouth and push air through nose that sounds like OM).

Meditate! Any meditation is good enough – say atleast for 15mts. Every single time you catch your mind wandering or chattering, draw a symbol, cancel that through and send Reiki for your intention.

Contd....
