The character that resonate most with you!

The character that resonate most with you!

Most of you must be reading /read novels or story books in your life. Language doesn’t matter. Any language storybook is good enough.

Which is the character you associate yourself with?

Don’t say “I want to be Arjun”. This is not about wishing to be like them. No. Which character is similar to you – as you are now.

If you are the one who hasn’t read any novels, story books, no issues, you must have watched movies/ dramas on TV/theatre. Have you felt this character seems and behaves like me? If it does, then which is that character? Why do you associate yourself with that character? Did someone tell you that you behave so or act so or did you feel so yourself?

Take time and come back with your answers.

You can have more than one character that seems similar to you.

Share if you know the answer.

Our character our destiny!

Contd.....

Our character our destiny!

Khalil Gibran Quotes About Life and Inner Peace (2019)
You may think your savings will come down if one extra box of meal goes out of your house, but you are opening your doors to ‘penury’ and shutting your doors to abundance entering in your life.

How can happiness and abundance enter such a life?

Heal, heal that attitude.

Your character will develop in the right direction

The end of knowledge is LOVE. The end of education is character ...
Your intentions will become purer and no one need bless you for abundance to come in your life.

Abundance of every sort will fight to be in your house if your character shines of ‘selflessness’.

27 Quotes About Strength to Persevere
Remove that grudge. Work on it and become strong from within and out!

Swami Vivekananda let scientists inject him with virus and bacteria and later tested negative of their effects. Thus he proved to the western medical world the power of pranayamam and meditation. That is the power of character which is exemplary. Purity was his other name. and that is the power one gets when one is pure of intent.

So to sum up, purity, love and selflessness gives strength to one’s character.

110+ Best Khalil Gibran Quotes on Love, Life and Inner Peace
And lack of it makes dent in ones’ persona

Hatred, selfishness, lust, being adamant, anger and such attitudes cause the fall of a man.

It is not the virus which is powerful!

It is the man who is weak.

Arise, awake stop not till the goal is achieved!

Concluded.......

Points to be considered :
  • As we look into the ways of protecting ourselves from the perils of life, why not become so strong from within that no downs of life can knock us down!
  • Weak man doesn't die because of virus alone. He dies everyday little by little by his choices and attitude.
  • Attitudes like selfishness, fear, anger, resentment, hatred, jealousy may seem justified when we look into the situation alone. But they eat our system slowly day by day. Later however much we eat right and do exercise right our stamina and strength don't match with what we eat and how much we exercise. Work on these qualities and see your immune system boost up.
  • I am not demeaning anyone by pointing out their qualities. Your qualities are demeaning you to a level where others are making fun of you. Grow in character and the Nation will remember you even hundreds of years later you are gone - like Rama, Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Shivaji the Great, Jhansi ki Rani and others..........

Character

Character is the back-bone of every abundance in our lives - more so financial.

Every WEALTHY person has a strong, inspiring and a value-based character in him.

Person's and with him nation's downfall starts the day character becomes ill-fitting on him.

See what the India was at 1835......

Lord Macaulay's address to the British Parliament 2nd Feb 1835

"I've travelled the length and the breadth of India and I have not seen a one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country. Such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would conquer this country, unless we break the very back-bone of this nation which is her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them a truly dominated nation."

History is not to be repeated.
History is not to feel proud about and forget the present.
History is to understand our follies and not to repeat it again.

This simply states the importance of character and how it reflects in our well-being and the nation's automatically.

For this simple reason we are working on our follies, mis-givings, short-comings so that we come out as strong individuals with sound character because our lives depend entirely on our character only.....
May this simple understanding bring abundance into your lives.....

And the First Flip happened....

PS: This is a bit longer post. You can copy it on to the desktop and read it as post for two days.....there will be no post tomorrow....

The How?

We are all Spiritual beings who have come to experience human experiences. But, unfortunately or fortunately we have come to believe that we are human beings who have to work to have spiritual experiences.

Now, exactly what caused this shift? And the reasons mainly are three:

  1. Our forgetfulness that we are Divine who have come to learn a lesson through an experience. This is what is classically called as “Maya”.
  2. Our sense of false separateness. The wrong belief system that says we are all different from one another and we need to fight with and against each other and also to win over others to prove to ourselves that we are successful and powerful.
  3. The identification that we develop with the role we don to play and learn our lesson which is termed as ego.

Our forgetfulness that we are Divine was mainly necessary to make us learn our lesson correctly and to experience it to the most. Like any seasoned actor would tell you that when the character goes under their skin, they live, breathe and sleep the character till they complete playing that role. Only such performances are remembered as classics. During that shot the actor becomes the role. This blending gives the validity to the role that the actor plays.

But, at the same time the actor should remember that He is not the character he is playing for him not to be disturbed by the role he/she is playing. Sometimes, this forgetfulness plays havoc. The actor comes to think himself to be larger than real and behaves so in the public too. That’s when they start messing up their lives. Such of actors who know the fame, love and the hatred for the character is for the character they played only and not to them develop a sense of balance both in their work and life. Their outlook of themselves and their profession is totally different.

This identification with the character that we play is what is called as Ego. The Truth is everyone and everything is the manifestation of the same Divine. But the name and form create an illusion that we are all different from one another. Ego is not arrogance. Identification of my self with anything apart from my Divine nature is ego. The day is remember “Aham Brahmasmi” “I am that I am” I shall identify with one and all as myself. Till then, I presume I a different from others.

And the feel, thought and belief of separatedness comes from ignorance – because we don’t know The Truth! And the Truth is :

When he Himself reveals, Himself, Brahma brings into manifestation That which can never be seen.
As the seed is in the plant, as the shade is in the tree, as the void is in the sky, as infinite forms are in the void –
So from beyond the Infinite, the Infinite comes; and from the Infinite the finite extends.
The creature is in Brahma, and Brahma is in the creature; they are every distinct yet ever united.
He Himself is the tree, the seed and the germ.
He Himself is the flower, the fruit and the shade.
He Himself is the sun, the light and the lighted.
He Himself is the Brahma, creature and Maya.
He is the breath, the word and the meaning.
He Himself is the limit and the limiteless and beyond both the limited and the unlimited
The Supreme Soul is seen within the soul,
The Point is seen within the Supreme Soul,
And within the point, the reflection is seen again.
    - Kabir

The identification that I make anything apart from the Truth is what is classically terms as ‘aham’ – ego. What all do I identify with?
    a) My body
    b) My thoughts
    c) My feelings
    d) My emotions – pain, hurt, frustration, attachment, anger, worry etc.
    e) My name and fame
    f) My possessions
    ….and the list goes on…

But, are these not mine? Of course! They are. As you yourself said now ‘They are yours. You are not Them.’
Body is yours but you are not the body.
Mind is yours but you are not the mind.
Thoughts are yours but you are not the thought.
Feelings are yours but you are not the feelings.
Not clear yet. Donkey is yours but you are not the donkey! Just the way, they are yours but you are not them. You possess them. You can experience them. You can experience through them. No problem till then.

But the problem starts when you are possessed by them. You are used by them. You become them. Where is you? This shift happens gradually with every experience that we have and the impression we chose to carry through such of experiences..

Every time, I have an experience I more or less carry an impression from that experience which is termed as psychic impressions.

Suppose I plan to drink hot milk at 9 pm on Tuesday. I let the milk boil on the gas and start watching TV. At 9.30pm I remember that the milk is boiling. I rush, put if off and pour some into the glass. Phone rings and I take the call. I am lost in the talk I had over phone. I just sip the hot milk and burn my tongue. I’ll carry a psychic impression from that experience that :
Ø Hot milk doesn’t suit me or will always burn me (So, my dislike for Hot Milk starts. I end up saying, I don’t like hot milk)
Ø Night time I always get burnt.
    Ø Tuesdays I shouldn’t start any work.
Ø Whenever I talk to that person over phone, immediately after that I hurt myself. I am sure that person is not good for me and my health.
Ø So and so forth….when the fact was just that because it was hot and I didn’t blow it to become cold I burnt my tongue.

These psychic impressions over the period of time when happens repeatedly, I develop a belief system. Belief system becomes my habit. Habits are the basis of character. Character determines the Fate and where did the Fate start? All with the psychic impression which is nothing but a thought which has left behind an impression. And we presumed all along that the Fate is written by some Old man sitting high up in the sky in the language unknown to us! So, I am the creator of my fate. Ke sera sera. As you think, you shall be, shall be! What you think is what is going to come back as an event tomorrow in your life.

World is nothing but the figment of your imagination! And what an imagination we have!

How the ego uses the mind game to create this world within and outside is very important for us to know. Or May I say only thing worth knowing! And this knowing happens by Looking within. Know thyself. First, let’s start by looking at our thoughts. Not by identifying with them. Just by looking at them. Just by being aware of them. This is what is starting point of looking within.

With this Awareness start looking within from now onwards…

Will get back by the time you get to practice it a bit……

Law and dharma!

Law and dharma!

A restraint imposed by the state is “Law”.

A restraint imposed by self is “dharm”.

Sometimes, the state can impose restrain but not often.

We know how to break the Law. That’s why despite breaking many laws people remain free. That is not justice. The law can be broken. But justice is meted by ‘self’ on self. It is governed by the human heart aka consciousness. It operates from within. That is the reason, even when God or Guru forgives your sins or wrongdoings, your Central Nervous System doesn’t – even when you are ‘adamant’ enough to say “I know I am right” or “no one can find fault with me and my actions because of XYZ reasons”.

Only in a society where most of the people are governed by self-restraint, Dharma resides. There, the society and government are just and where most of the people don’t have self-restraint, there society and government are in a state of anarchy! So true!

What a beautiful Idea!

What a complete concept!

What a wonderful World that would be!

Jai ho for that being the way of life in the “Olden days in India” and hence was called the Land of the Dharm where people’s character was pristine.

So, now that we know this, let’s stop blaming others, society, government, Time and fate for being bad. If you want to live in a ‘good and just society/family’ start it with self!

Let’s bring “dharm” into our lives.

Let’s be the change that we seek!

Let’s work towards building a flawless character!

Let’s work towards enshrining Ram within!

Let’s recreate Ram Rajya the right and complete way!

Let’s set an example to the World about what living in Dharm means!

Let's leave behind the World that is safe for our next generations to come!

Note: Those who are living abroad too fall under this ‘yagna’. For you represent “Bharat” to the people of the World out there. Represent it in all its glory by your acharan – conduct!

Points to ponder and questions answered:

  • What is "dharm"?
  • How to overcome the cycle of good and bad times?
  • How to build strength to face tough times in life?
  • What is that that protects the man who follows it at all times?
  • What is my contribution to Society?
  • In what best way can I contribute to the Society?
  • As long as one is fearful, one can't follow Dharm. When one follows Dharm, there is no 'fear'.

  • Wherever life has stationed you (as per your karma), just be there with all humility.
  • Do your job - even as simple as cleaning your home, with all honesty, sincerity, joy and commitment. That would be living in dharm at that point of time.
  • Whatever you do, with whomsoever you live/interact, do it with the utmost kindness, respect, humility, dignity, honesty, joy and integrity of character.
  • Come back to your centre as many times as possible per day. Bring peace within and in the place of your residence with your mere presence. That also would be putting dharm to practice.

160 Best Buddha Quotes on Love, Life and Happiness | Buddha quotes inspirational, Buddha, Buddha quote

She came after 7 days. She bowed to ‘The Great One’ and pleaded again “Great One, please ask my son to stop eating sweets”.

Being honest may not get you a lot of friends but it'll always get you the right ones | Popular inspirational quotes at EmilysQuotes
Buddha looked lovingly at the boy and said “Don’t eat so much of sweets. They are no good. Listen to your mother”.

The boy looked at Buddha, bowed to him and replied “So be it Master”.

The mother was overjoyed, hugged her son, bowed thanking the Great one and left relieved.

Zen Quotes | Zen Sayings | Zen Picture Quotes
Ananda, Buddha’s student found this odd! He asked “Master, you could’ve said those lines the first time that mother had come. Why did you make her come 2 more times?”

Buddha replied with a smile “Because, when she had come the first time, I myself was addicted to sweets. How could I, lover of sweets ask the young lad to not eat them? I thought I could outgrow my love for sweets in one week. So, I asked her to come after a week. In this one week I didn’t eat sweets, but the thought of sweets still lingered in my mind. So, I didn’t and couldn’t ask that boy not to eat sweets when my mind was set on it! This week I worked on my mind. Now, I don’t have even a thought or desire for sweet in me. So, I told that boy not to eat sweet”.

Ananda was both pleased and surprised with his Master’s honesty.

So you see for that honesty to shine forth through one’s character, one has to know one’s inner most desires, thoughts and feelings at every point of time.

And to be honest, one should stop justifying one’s emotions. Only then can we see ‘who we truly are!’ Anybody can parrot ‘words’ heard couple of times, but it is the centre from which it is said that gives ‘energy’ to those words” our Guruji concluded.

Points to consider :
  • Person who is honest with himself doesn't hide his true nature with himself. He doesn't justify his nature with reasoning. In fact he uses reasoning to address his nature, desire, attitudes and then heals them. He uses reasoning to transform himself.
  • Any reasoning used to 'be stuck with our personality' is the breeding ground of our 'demonic character'.
  • Demonic character is the cause of pain and suffering in our life.
  • Demonic character is not our 'Real Nature'. It is acquired and desired by us for its utility. We find 'demonic pleasure' worth pursuing and hence log on to it.
  • Every one's real nature is always 'DIVINE'.
Question to be addressed :
  • Why did boy listen to what Buddha said him to do?
  • Does the centre from which one gives advice make a difference in the impact it has on the receiver?
  • How can we use every situation to outgrow our weakness every time we come face to face with it?

Strength of character!

Strength of character!

Sometimes, we just have to get used to the fact that people are not true to what they say. They are just not as consistent as you would want them to be – that’s all!

Being true to one’s word and being consistent on that takes lots of character strength. And that is the main thing missing in most. And that exactly is the reason they can’t live up to their commitments. They fail themselves again and again.

What can you do when you meet them?

Explain them importance of building one’s character through various techniques if they want to strengthen themselves.

Some, just want to be weak and miserable. They love complaining and seeking pity. They want to go on guilt ride again and again and yet not want to hear the answer to get out of that ride. We can feel bad that we are not able to help them but that’s the most we can do. Don’t judge them. Don’t be angry with them. Because, they are happy being miserable. It’s you who loses his energy being angry at them and with them.

How to get Ram Rajya?

…contd….

Well, if you want Ramrajya back then –

a)      Start respecting woman, regardless of her dress, profession, life-style and choices. Ram did not kill ‘Thataki’ (female demon) because she was a woman. Only when Sage Vishwamitra explained that she was killing innocent rishis and their families and it was duty of noble men to protect rishis did Rama kill her.

b)      He did not call his stepmother names like ‘-----‘ etc. he did not say ‘cheap woman, you enticed my father with your looks and how dare you want me to go to forest now.”

He respected her as much as he respected his mother. He himself was a ‘one woman man’ yet did not judge his father or his step-mother’s character because of their choice. He respected their right to lead their life their way and respected their choice still maintaining his principles. To understand that Ideal and to live that is being Rama Bhaktha.

c)      Stop torturing women in the name of dowry and stop killing girl child and wanting only male child.

d)     Start respecting your wife and be a one woman man before asking her to be like Sita, Savithri. Set an example of great character to others to follow. You can’t force someone to be good or moral. Be an example. Stop abusing women in your house and society. Stand for them, protect them and respect them if you really are a ‘true Hindu’.

e)      Read Vedas and Upanishads and work on you character as they claim that only thing worth working for is ‘enlightenment’. Become a rishi. Practice renunciation. People will flock to you. People will follow your foot steps automatically. Bring out the Divine within you. Meditate. Do penance. Work on your character. Others character will change automatically if you become pure from within.

f)       Stop working on breaking pubs and forcing people from taking to western customs and life-styles. The more something is forced on, the more people will revolt against it. If you are really interested in spreading ‘Sanatana Dharma’, then revive all the temples in remote places which are in ruins. Pay the priests good salary and let the ceremonies be performed regularly. Make arrangements for the same. Educate the masses. Work on these aspects. Revive the masses economically, socially and culturally. Be constructive in the fulfillment of your desire – not destructive. Not by force but by education only can real transformation happen. This way Ramayan teaches us to deal with various aspects of life and its situations the right way. Even if you forget that it is story of Lord Vishnu’s Incarnation – i.e., Rama and read it just as a life of an ordinary man who rose to pedestal of ‘Perfect Man’ or ‘Godhood’ by simply following ‘Dharma’. He never compromised on principles however much he had to suffer for the same.

Every character throws light on how to raise above the situations, how to use testing situations as an excuse to make penance and bring forth our divinity to the fore. Ramayan through its characters shows us how we can slip and given in to temptations and how they affect our lives. It’s a moral story so poetically told.

Bhaktha and his bhakti – Guru Shishya – My Guru and Me

Bhaktha and his bhakti – Guru Shishya – My Guru and Me

Image result for character and destiny quotesAditi approached her husband for impregnation during the boons hours of the day and hence children came out to be “light being” or more famously called “devas”, full of sattva guna, whereas Diti’s desire to mate at untimely hours (sandhya kale – a time when Shiva’s ganas return to Kailash). Knowing the consequence of such act at that hour Kashyapa Muni tried to reason with his wife but desire clouded her understanding capacity and she had her desire fulfilled. The resultant children born to her though powerful as of the great Saptarishi Kashyapa Muni were tamasic or demonic in nature and came to be called as “Daityas”, later identified as “Asuras”. The meaning associated with the word being “demonic in nature”. Daityas means “born of Diti” and Adityas means “born of Aditi”. That’s how names were given in those days and in Sanskrit.”

Image result for character and destiny quotes
We all were surprised well most of us. Yes, we knew bits and pieces of this story but how the name came about and how in spite of being step or half-brothers, they became mortal enemies – forever to come – ONLY because of their “attitude” disposition was so strong - that was news to us.

Image result for character and destiny quotes
“Devas because of their ‘sattva gunas’ – attitudes like self-restraint, being benevolent, protecting the weak and right, purity and so on and so forth were given ‘Swargaloka’(heaven). They were also given powers and positions of being guardians of the world.

Image result for character and destiny quotes
But ‘asuras’ or Daityas did not receive any powerful position to rule any aspect of the Universe – though they were given ‘patala loka’ (their domain and region) to prosper. Envy, greed and power hungry ‘asuras’ hence kept waging wars with devas at regular period to gain supremacy and sovereignty over the worlds” she paused a bit longer than usual before continuing “and hence enmity and gap between them widened over generations".

Angulimaan, the Saint

Contd….

Angulimaan, the Saint

Here, we can see the character of his father shine when he
religiously told the king about the doom his son could bring about as per his horoscope (Now don’t sit to ask the question, does horoscope predictions come true and all). That much high was the character of people in general and especially of the father of Ahimsaka who thought of the benefit and good of the nation before their own kith and kin. That’s why it was ‘Golden Era’. And look at the
character of the king! Inspite of knowing that he could be a threat to the kingdom, he did not kill the infant out of fear for self or blindly believing the horoscope. He thought of an alternative and believed in ‘raising the child properly and educating it so would mould his character. He was not wrong in thinking so and doing so too! Every circumstance brings with it ‘a decision’ to be
taken. What does the person taking the decision base his decision on – Dharma or emotions? General good or selfish motive? These decide and mould the character of the individual accordingly and thus he writes his ‘destiny’. No one can predict the future. You can only act out of Dharma and right and wrong based on present circumstances.

We can only assume few facts based on the story. Like the teacher probably expected that Ahimsaka, in his attempt to complete that deed, would be killed himself or, being caught by the king's men, would suffer the highest penalty of execution.  One of Ahimsaka’s motivations may have been that an unquestioning obedience to the guru appeared to him as the
first duty of a pupil, this being an echo from his earlier way of life that was governed by higher principles. But the stronger factor in his decision will probably have been that his hidden dispositions had actually emerged in his mind when vistas of violence were evoked by his teacher's words. He may have felt attracted by a life of violent adventure as a challenge to his manly prowess. These is what is called as ‘samskaras’ (psychic impressions from out past – which loosely is called karma too!).
