Love for Guru
Love for Guru
In a certain village lived a disciple name Sura. She
was totally devoted to her Guru. Her devotion over the period of time so
increased that she got a golden statue made of her Guru. She would religiously
do her daily pooja to her Guru’s idol. Over the period of time, her attachment
towards her Guru idol surpassed all limits. She started carrying it along with
her and not let others touch it.
Once there was a gathering of her Guru’s students at
her Guru’s place. Sura also left to attend the meeting. She took her idol with
herself. There, all students decided to do pooja to their Guru. As it was
impossible for their Guru to sit through everyone’s pooja, Guru idol/photo was
given to desiring candidates to do the pooja.
Sura did not take any as she had her golden idol with herself.
But as she started to do pooja, she realized that
the smell of her incense sticks would go to other photos (of her Guru) and
hence made a funnel over her Guru’s idol and lit the incense.
As a result, after the pooja, the golden idol’s nose
was burnt.
So, what did you understand from this simple yet
profound story?
