On a good note!

I start my day on a good note! I make my bed happily and lovingly. Not because. I had good night sleep or that I have a great day ahead but for a simple reason that when I come back home after my hectic day - tired, dejected, exhausted, frustrated, disappointed or feeling low, a look at my bed done gives me a high that lightens my spirit...

I know i can't control catastrophes, accidents, failures, disappointments, dejection, life or death, ill health and such fatalities. But the bed made gives me hope and assurance that 'still some simple things' are in my control and i can bring about change in my attitude and life if i take control of such simple things that i have control over....

and i move on with this 'hopeless faith' embracing life with all its highs and lows and with a smile that sees me through all times.....

I still do matter..
I still can make a difference....
I still have options and
I still have choice to choose hope over hopelessness, faith over doubt, love over hatred and happiness over pain...

I just make bed first thing in the morning...

Whatever happens happens for a good!

Whatever happens happens for a good!

Image result for everything happens for a reason

Very few can see the future. It is near to impossible as it is in fluid state most of the time. And the one who is agitated and in pain can’t certainly be ‘that person’ who can see. Not because he is a ‘sinner’ or lowly by birth. No! Certainly not! The reason is very simple and yet very difficult to accept. Imagine future to be like a river bed. Can you see the river bed if the water is muddy or full of foam? No! Only when it is clear and flowing calmly, clearly can one see the river bed. Similarly, an agitated mind harms our perception. And that in turn likes out our power to ‘see’ beyond or through time.

“So, that’s why I go to that ‘Baba’ asking him about the future!”

Or

“That’s why I go to astrologers wanting to know that evasive future!”

Image result for everything happens for a reasonGood! If you use them as road maps guiding you to work on yourself or your sadhan, it’s fine. Because then you are going towards your desire. You are healing the ‘obstacles’ in some way. Healing can be like doing pooja, following some ritual like doing charity etc., doing Reiki etc.

But, if you use these tools of Baba’s and astrologers to sit back and relax and wait for that ‘magic’ to happen on its own as ‘they’ promised – dear you are in trouble.

Me, My guru – On keeping healthy

Contd....

Me, My guru – On keeping healthy

“Just take a bath 1 hour before going to bed. Meditate after taking a bath for say 15mts in the least. Do not use phones, TV, or any gadgets. Just relax – reading a book or listening to music before going to bed” replied our Guru.

“Just that?” asked Vaishnav surprised.

“You wanted a simple solution right?” asked our Guru.

He nodded his head. He was beaming with joy.

We were dumbstruck. Did she really give an answer to such a question too? Why? How? But…we were lost.

She just smiled and continued the class.

We didn’t dare ask any further questions. If she had answered so immediately and so confidently, then it must work!!!

All we had to do was take a bath in the evening – but 2-2 ½ hours after eating. And also that we need to wait for an hour before going to bed after bath. So, we just had to time our bath accordingly! Such a simple routine – good on so many levels and yet….

Even Covid has taught us the importance of taking a bath after coming back from office/outdoor activity. But, we stopped it when Covid fear vanished!

Why couldn’t we stick to our ‘good habits’ even in good times? Did we always need external compulsive force to follow the ‘right way of living’? was it the reason we had to face such ‘hard situations’ in life? I wondered!

    On playing a game

    On playing a game

Most part of my work involves writing and the other big part of my work involves ‘blogging’. I need to sit for hours on computers and I get rebuked often for a job that doesn’t pay a penny. I end up undergoing immense physical discomfort, strain and suffering. So at the end of the day, I give myself a treat – a game of solitaire I play just before shutting down the computer. Someday, the game doesn’t end  well– meaning I lose!

Many times, I just play couple of times more, lose that many times and then call it a day! But there are few days, this addiction get the better of me! I lose ‘awareness’ of playing and get lost in playing and end up even playing for an hour or so! When I look at time, I shut down reluctantly as I hadn’t won that day! Addiction of any kind makes us lose our cool sooner or later!

Today was one such day. I lost. I couldn’t get myself to get up and go! So, I continued with second game. I lost again! I waited…should I leave or continue?

The time said “Go to bed!” but…..

Earlier today, someone told me that they go to bed at 10 PM come what may and so they get good sleep and also are able to get up early! They said many other things but their ‘discipline’ to be in bed at 10 PM stuck with me.

I ‘receive’ messages from and through everyone and everything!

    Pointers :

For a change you tell me "The Pointers" in this post.......

    Covid Challenge :

Are you still with covid challenge?

Once you pick up a good and right habit though under wrong circumstances, don't let go of it!

Right way of living once caught has to be lived effortlessly and without a thought of doing it daily.

Right eating, sleeping and working out should be a part of life....not a favour we are doing on Universe to seek benefits from it....

When we have right way of living it just means, we are doing our part of the job right. Period! Nothing more! It is not a coupon to demand some fulfillment of our desire at later day.

When we drive a vehicle we keep it serviced and see that the brakes function right. That doesn't mean we will not meet with an accident. We still could and may! If one says "What is the use of keeping the vehicle as I any how met with an accident and had a fracture? I as well may drive a vehicle which is not properly maintained...

What would YOU call a person who puts forth such an argument? What do you call such a logic?

When we say we don't have time to exercise, do yoga, do pranayamam our excuses sound just the same to those who are hearing it.......listen to what you say before saying it aloud!

    The Indian Hell!

Well, the name does make a difference!

Once an Indian died and went to Hell and found out that every country had different hell for its people. First he went to a German hell and peeped in. He asked the devil as to how people are punished here. The devil answered, “For one hour, people are made to sit on an electric chair and then made to sleep on the bed of iron-nails. Later a German devil comes and beats them for the rest of the day.” Our hero did not like what he saw and heard. So, he moved on to check out the other hells.

Next, he saw more or less the same treatments being meted out in all other hells.

Lastly, he came to the Indian hell and found a long line of people waiting to enter it. He asked the people waiting as to why Indian hell had so much of people anxious to enter it. The person standing there told, “For one hour, people are made to sit on an electric chair and then made to sleep on the bed of iron-nails. Later an Indian devil comes and beats them for the rest of the day.”

Our hero was confused. It was same as others. So he asked, “It is same as other hells, then how come there is such a long queue for Indian hell?”. The person answered, “True! But the maintenance is so bad that electric chair does not work, somebody has stolen the iron nails and the Indian devil was an Indian Government servant. So, he comes, signs the register and goes off.”

Hell is hell everywhere. But, it’s the personnel who make the difference.

Marriage is marriage everywhere. But, it’s the personnel who make the difference in this institution.

Situation is more or less same everywhere. But it’s the person involved who makes a difference in the situation.

Mirror is a mirror everywhere. But the reflection depends on who stands in front of it.

Just the same. Life is life all along. It’s what you make out of it that makes it beautiful or otherwise.

    “मिलो थो ऐसे मिलो के लोग करे आरजू और
    जियो थो ऐसे जियो के दुनिया मिसाल दे”.

“If you meet someone, meet them so that they look forward to meeting you again,
and if you live, live life such that people set you as an example to live.”

Wishing you to make a difference in your life

In the post "Is it the same God who created both good and bad?" I had written that father of Cain and Abel was Abraham. I am sorry for the mistake. The father of Cain and Abel was Adam.

    Attitudes

    Family comes first....

Charity and attitudes with regards to spending and earning are the qualities that I need to develop not with FA in mind but with an awareness that I need to give back to the society from which I got so much.

Atleast 10% of my earnings should be earmarked for charity. That should top the list not be at the end. Charity is 'now' or 'never'. So, if one waits till one has more than sufficient to do charity that day will never come. This has already been dealt with many times - refer previous blogs for this aspect.

India in good olden days had abundance with regards to everything and still there was peace and happiness. Now, money comes with a package of tension, heartburns and what not! Why is it so? Then 'People used things but loved people' but now 'we have ended up using people and loving things'. Just a small shift has made all the difference in our lives.....

    Reflect on this story....

    F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,'Oh excuse me please' was my reply. He said, 'Please excuse me too;I wasn't watching for you.'We were very polite, this stranger and I.We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,How we treat our loved ones, young and old..

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,My son stood beside me very still. When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown. He walked away, his little heart broken.I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken. While I lay awake in bed, God's still small voice came to me and said,'While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,but the family you love, you seem to abuse.Go and look on the kitchen floor,You'll find some flowers there by the door. Those are the flowers he brought for you.He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise, you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.'

By this time, I felt very small,And now my tears began to fall.I quietly went and knelt by his bed;'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'

He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'

He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.I love you anyway.'I said, 'Son, I love you too,and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.'

FAMILY - Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family,an unwise investment indeed, don't you think?

As we are working for our comforts and our near and dear ones are we enroute making a shift unconsciously that gives importance only to our work and not to the ones for whom we are working?

We should work so that we live comfortably.....we should not live to work.....reflect on this as i do my own self-check....

    On playing a game

    On playing a game

Earlier today, someone told me that they go to bed at 10pm come what may and so they get good sleep and also are able to get up early! They said many other things but their ‘discipline’ to be in bed at 10om stuck with me.

I ‘receive’ messages from and through everyone and everything!

That message kept flashing in my brain!

I decided to leave – but one last game! It went of smoothly in less than a minute, won the game and got up!

It may seem not so great to all! It wasn’t!

I was playing with myself….There was no one to keep score. Losing or winning the game hardly mattered! And yet while I got up, I thanked Reiki with a smile!

I and II game ‘I’ was playing and was getting tensed and irritated when losing. But as decided, 3rd game was going be, the last – either way and ‘I’ had not played. I was just with the flow and it was smooth and I won! When ‘I’ did not get involved while playing I won! So simple was the ‘Truth’ that Reiki gave me and in such simple ways! This understanding made me glad! (I received answer for the question I had sought answer to!) I asked a question earlier today and I received answer through this game. ‘He’ talked and replied. It was only when I was ‘available’ that I could hear his voice! S, I thanked for His grace! For his love! For His company!

This doesn’t validate any type of compulsion or addiction. Weakness is weakness! However harmless it seems, weakness is not to be worn for long!

Me, My guru – On keeping healthy

Me, My guru – On keeping healthy

“Guruji, we know the list of do’s and don’ts to keep ourselves healthy. Eat right, exercise, maintain cleanliness and have food, sleep and wake up at the right time – these are some of them. But, can you give us a simple easy for anyone to follow technique that could decrease the chances of us falling sick regularly” asked Vaishnav.

We all laughed. He always asked such questions. He wanted quick-fix solutions. He wanted immediate results. He was restless and lacked patience. His character was reflected in his questions. He was hurt and irritated when we all laughed. But our guruji’s answers dissipated them as fast as he had those feelings.

He nodded his head. He was beaming with joy.

Points to ponder and questions answered:

    • The right way of living was the way of life for Indians since time immemorial.
    • Rituals and daily way of living were centered around spirituality and were hence wholistic.
    • The purpose of life was considered to be "Enlightened" or "Moksha" or "Freedom from life and death", or "Immortality". Call it by any name, each of these goals led one to super-consciousness only!
    • The body was considered the "best and must" vehicle that needs to be maintained right so that it aids one in the spiritual pursuit.
    • Body was not seen as the "be-all" of existence.

Indian Mythology - Shiva Parvathi - Me, My Guru

    Contd.....

“I don’t have any specific reason – just wanted to hear your version of their story – that’s all!” I blurted not having much to say on this topic.

“Yes Guruji, can’t you just say without us having reason to know” added some voice from behind. I can’t tell you how glad I was to hear someone pitch in so. I had never felt so much of affection to a stranger so much. “Yes Guruji just say as you would to the general public or first timers. Just whatever you wish to on this topic”

    “Please Guruji...”

    “please...”

The number of voices pleading increased and she raised her hand smiling at our childish behaviour. It was true then we felt like nursery kids asking for ‘bed time story’.

    She nevertheless gave in.

She adjusted herself and so did we. We were excited not because of the topic but because it had built up some excitement for being on our list for the past month or two! We were so full of expectations. Would it be met was to be seen now...

Today after so much of time we all totally relaxed and sat. Some even sat in reclining position. For once we weren’t listening to learn. Yes, we hadn’t asked to learn or unlearn anything. We felt like kids, as already told eager to listen and participate in bed time story. We thoroughly enjoyed every word she said on such days, but such occasions were far in between. There was something to be taught always in every anecdote or story that she shared. But occasions as today were rare and far in between. Would we simply doze off in the middle of it? For once, we didn’t look forward to tea. She said she would start the story after drinking tea and we were restless. We drank tea faster than usual time. No chit-chatting too. We didn’t want to contribute to her starting the story late in any way!

It was then it dawned on me that ‘If we like something, then we really don’t bother to let go off what we hold as ‘need’ too to receive it’. She had stated it so often and in so many ways – yet......her other way of putting it was “If you are ready to let go off your wants to make place for the object of your desire, it really means you like it a lot!”
