on religion....

Contd…….

Next when his character develops empathy, compassion and viveka (power of discrimination) he looks at the concepts of religions. Here, he stops looking at followers and their conduct. He studies only the concepts and finds the similarity of various concepts in all religions. Here he is unifying various religions under the head of ‘concept’.

When his growth expands and he enters ‘intuitive zone’ of understanding, he steps into spiritual realms of ‘Reality’ where his various experiences and understanding that comes with knowing (this knowing cannot be had through books or discourses, but only through meditation) gives him power to love – love beyond boundaries and as it expands and encompasses all, it gradually breaks one boundary of understanding after the other. Here the expanse of his understanding increases as he looks at others more as ‘souls’ than as individuals with body and its attachments ( viz. Name, case, nationality, sex, religion etc).

This is the first step in his journey of finding that ‘oneness’ among the ‘All that is’ and here he no more bothers for what religion you follow for he has experienced that each religion is just a step or a stage that is required in the journey of the soul.

He is sympathetic towards all and their flaws, frails and mistakes because he knows they are required to reach where he is now. He hates none!

Does it mean I don’t do anything seeing all this wrong happening?

Ofcourse you do need to do a lot. But worry and getting anger are not in that list. As already explained if I hate Muslim, I am born as one. (Read Brian Weiss’s Many Lives, Many Maters). You become the object of your dislike or love as the case may be. Remember all asuras merging into Vishnu because they kept hating him all through.

Even scientifically it’s been proved by west. One white woman gave birth to a black boy and her husband (white) sued her. She had paternity test done and the DNA matched. Doctors were stunned. Then they found that that lady had a photo of a black man in her room regularly during her pregnancy period. So, it was proved that whatever a person thinks of regularly and repeatedly becomes that. Read story of Jada Bharath in my blog.

soul journey - jada bharath - Bhagavatham

Me, my Guru
Journey of the soul - Jada Bharath – Bhagavatham

“King Bharath on whose name India was called as ‘Bharathavarsha’ ruled his kingdom for very many years. All his subjects were prosperous, contended, peaceful and happy in his rule. As was the tradition as per Vedic principles, after attaining certain age, every person was to go for ‘vanaprastha’. In India, each person was to follow four stages in his life – brahmacharya – the period when he accumulates knowledge and becomes eligible to lead a worldly life. Next, was the stage of ‘Gruhasthashram’ – that of an house-holder, i.e., being married, going through life following Dharma in earning and spending money, leading a social life, in raising family and in being a responsible citizen of the state. At 60 years he was to enter ‘vanaprasthashram’ that of a recluse who leaves his family, mostly along with his wife, living on meagre things and practising all such of study and techniques needed to know ‘Self’ and last was the ‘sanyasashramam’ i.e., leading a life of a monk – totally concentrating on the ‘Divine’ and working towards that end only.

This way every person’s life-span was divided in the ratio of 50:50, ie., there was balance of a materialistic and spiritual life and both tasks of the soul could be easily and completely attended to.

Now King Bharath also followed ‘Dharma’ and hence coronate his son and left to live in the forest. There he lived only on fruits and roots and prepared his body fit enough for spiritual practices. Other times, he would be lost in meditation in the middle of that lush forest. He had progressed considerably in that path and realization was just few ‘blocks’ away when he faced a very common phenomenon in the forest. He was taking bath on the banks of a river when he saw a tiger chasing a deer. Now this deer that was in advanced stage of pregnancy out of fear gave birth to a fawn but she herself was to become food for the tiger immediately.

Soul journey - Jada Bharath - Bhagavatham

Soul journey - Jada Bharath - Bhagavatham

Contd..........

Sage Bharath, when he saw this incident was moved and his heart went out for fawn. He lifted the fawn and took it to his ashram, tended to it and his everyday routine now changed to looking after that fawn.

If that fawn left ashram then he would be dead worried till it returned. His waking thought was revolving only around fawn. One fine day his time came and on death bed his only fear and worry was “how can this simple and innocent fawn survive in this forest?”

As his last thought was that of that ‘fawn’ he was born as a ‘deer’.

But because he had practiced immense penance for many years too, he remembered his ‘previous birth’ and hence kept away from the herd and moved in close proximity of ‘ashrams’ of Sages listening to Vedas and Upanishads.

Hence, next life he received a human body and remembered his previous births and its’ flaws too.  Afraid of getting attached to this mortal world if he mingled with it, he thought it fit to remain ‘mum’ right from his birth. He would simply sit and be staring into nothingness for hours on end. He actually was meditating then. But people thought he was not only dumb by a sense but also by way of intelligence. He would do any work assigned to him without even uttering a word. So, he came to be called ‘Jada’ meaning ‘inert like a stone and also meaning one who is dumb’. When his parents died, his elder brothers divided the wealth among themselves and giving nothing to ‘Jada’ assuming him to be dumb, an idiot. He didn’t mind. His brothers’ wives too were unkind to him. He would not mind any of he taunts of any of these people. If they gave something to eat, he would eat, if not he would go hungry. If they abused him he simply left home stayed in woods and would return when their anger subsided.  One day, his family abused him more than usual and he left home and kept walking till he left that village. He slept under a tree by the side of the road.

Bhagavatam – Krishna answers King Dhritarashtra

Contd…..

Bhagavatam – Krishna answers King Dhritarashtra

Though there are meditation techniques available for advanced sadhaks, it is not required to heal oneself of one’s karma.

Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita (4.17) “…. gahana karmano gatih…”, that the way in which action and reaction works is very complex. God knows best which reaction has to be given at what time in what condition.  Therefore, some reaction may come in this lifetime, some in the next and yet some in a distant future lifetime.

Healing never ends till we get back to our original state of ‘Pure consciousness’. Till then, whatever disturbs us, pains us and the fears that we have need to be healed – layer by layer. Even after years of healing, when an issue crops up, I don’t see it as a problem to be solved (though I act on that too as per the need of the hour) but is is about knowing something about myself that needs to be addressed. Every time, I think I have crossed quite a hurdle or obstacle, I find myself again in a situation of facing people which
pushes me away from my equilibrium. Then I sit to know myself more – again! I go within. I meditate to find that area of me which is causing this reality to express itself and I sit to heal that.  Trust me, the more I change, I find the people and the situation around me change (Please don’t blabber something like ‘so our problems are not healed as you haven’t healed yourself?”). Don’t understand Laws wrongly to get away from being responsible to your own karma, self and destiny.

More we change, more we find the need to change. In this path will be noble qualities that need to be learned, picked up and assimilated into our character and personality. At the same time, we need to unlearn our insecurities, fears and weaknesses. It doesn’t happen with a click of hand. It isn’t magic! And hence healing takes time, regularity, perseverance, patience and able all faith to make it happen. And the procedures though may vary from person to person; it still is achievable by one and all – provided one is willing to. And the best part is ‘Universe pushes everyone towards this learning/unlearning process’ whether they are in healing process or not. It’s just that like Dhritarashtra it would take 50 janmas for that karma to come into effect.  And that too remains since unhealed, person most of the time goes through it with remorse, anger and such feelings, thereby planting fresh seeds of karma for future. And the vicious cycle continues.

On Healing!

P.S. Read previous post on Jada Bharath (again) from Bhagavatham

On Healing – It’s meaning, need and various techniques

‘Jada Bharath’ because of his attachment for the deer extended his ‘enlightenement’ by couple of janmas. So what?

Not only here, everywhere it is said the same. Every story (from the Hindu scriptures) explains how qualities of lust, greed etc takes us away from the ‘enlightenement’.

Why this stress of ‘Enlightenemt’   or ‘Realization of Self’?

Why is ‘sadhan’ important and what exactly is the ‘sadhan’ which is stressed so often?
Even before understanding ‘What is one most important teaching/technique….needed to practice’ it is important that we understand what healing is all about?”

From your questions and inspite of my repeated replies, it seems this is not understood correctly.

What healing is not:

It is not a “technique” or a ‘wand’ used to get what you want or don’t want.

Sadhan : It is not done to fulfil our wishes or desires.
