Reflections - Don’t hurry – Just Be Here!

Observe even those who ‘look calm' externally. Maybe even they are hurrying from within. Who knows?

DO NOT APPLY OR ASSIGN THIS TO ANY OTHER PERSON IN YOUR LIFE. JUST APPLY IT TO YOURSELF. If you ‘act’ slow in your works, see if you are hurrying in your thoughts or feelings. Again, I repeat, don’t look for someone to criticize or judge. Restrict this exercise ONLY TO YOURSELF.

Don’t come back saying “I know about her. She looks calm but she is hurrying from inside”. It is just a presumption. You can’t know about others. You can only guess about them. Look within. You are not able to know why you are behaving in a certain way. How you can know how others are thinking?

Let’s break this vicious cycle and do our work.

The understanding that you got from the above cycle should give you some input about yourself and the workings of your mind.

Once you realize and accept it, you know how to deal with it with the various techniques that is taught to you. Heal and come back with your experiences, if you please.

Do not SHARE THE NAME OF THE TECHNIQUE that you used as people reading this blog are in various stages of Reiki – not all are or have completed the same degree in Reiki. Always remember that!

Reflections - Don’t hurry – Just Be Here!

We are worried about work undone when playing with kids. And hence hurry to play.

We hurry to eat.

We hurry even sleeping.

This hurry adds and creates stress. But, we relate stress with the activities that we do. They are ‘poor simple activities’. They just are! Or, we assume the stress is because of people we dislike in our lives. That too is false!

Think about it!

Meditate on it!

When we are with ‘such people’ we are in a hurry to rush the time spent with them. But, time can’t be rushed. And there friction is created. That causes stress.

Meditate on it!

Take a situation with someone. Look at yourself. And see through your mind games and feelings.

But for now, let’s understand it’s all the ‘hurry’ which is the culprit. So, let’s address it right away.

Questions addressed:

  • Can avoiding the people and situations that irritate or anger me bring peace in my life?

Points to understand and apply:

  • The friction caused between our expectations and their fulfillment is the culprit, not the person or situation per se.
  • Many times, just accepting the person or situation for what they are reduces stress automatically. That in turn eases our life in more than one way.

Reflections - Don’t hurry – Just Be Here!

Reflections - Don’t hurry – Just Be Here!

Just close your eyes. Yes, just NOW!

Now observe yourself. Your body, thoughts, feelings and all of you. What do you see and feel? (Only proceed if you do this exercise).

·        Do you feel the knots in the stomach, heart region or elsewhere?

·        Kind of feeling butterflies in the stomach or in other parts of the body?

·        Are you stressed about anything?

·        Are you restless? Does your restlessness say “I need to do XYZ jobs after this?”

·        Worried about tomorrow?

Now, relax! Take a few deep breaths and relax. Calm down. Wait! Proceed when you are completely or at least relatively calmer.

Now read!

The reason for all the above emotions is only 3 at the most:

1.     The fear of remaining a ‘nobody’.

2.     The fear of ‘what others’ would say’.

3.     Fear of being unable to achieve what one desires – in the future like a house, assets, children, etc.

Because of all these fears we end up hurrying in our lives.

also read the poem in the link given to understand how we miss out on life and complain about not being happy...if we can't relish what we worked for and asked for then what is the purpose of desiring, working for it and achieving?

https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/2020/01/poem-by-diane-loomans-on-raising-child.html

Questions addressed:

  • What is the need to hurry?
  • How to be relaxed?
  • How to deal with stress, tension and worry?
  • What is the cause of anxiety, stress, worry and fear?
  • What to do to be calm and composed?

Points to understand and apply:
  • Hurry doesn't heal the situation or make it better in any way.
  • Hurry is the cause of tension, stress, worry.
  • Hurry stops you from seeing the solution.

Reflections -  On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

Be attentive of your intentions and feelings. Then look at the dirtier part – the intense attitudes and emotions like angry, laziness, jealousy, greed, selfishness, lust  and so on.

First, see what is present and how they express themselves through you in various points of time.

Then question their need in your life. Later work with various techniques to address them. Little a day and slowly but steadily you would clean your house for sure the way you desire it to be! Relax!

Dheere dheere re mana dheere sab kuch hoye

maali seenche sou ghada ruthu aaye phal hoye...

धीरे धीरे रे मना धीरे सब कुछ होए

माली सींचे सौ घड़ा ऋतु आए फल होए

Dear mind of mine, listen, everything happens at the appointed time only,

the gardener may pour 100 buckets of water, yet flowers bloom only when the season comes....

Just keep going! That is the trick. Every time you see something good in others, don’t be jealous, it's ok, even if you are, go back to yourself. Question as to what you desire. Do required healing. If you see someone more broken and disgusting than yourself, then heal them a bit. Look within. See what about yourself is irritating to you. Unclutter yourself layer by layer.

Every time a nook is cleared of its mess, believe me the joy and celebration of that cleaning is so huge that it nullifies all the joy of this world!

So, let’s take up the most toughest cleaning of this world – ourselves now with added zest, vigour and passion!

Let’s make most of this time to unclutter our inner thoughts, wash away our ego, re-arrange our mess so that we can move around this house effortlessly. That way, this house – body, and intellect will be more productive in building, creating, achieving things of this World.

Ab daag se kaisa dar

Reflections -  On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

If to get a house that is so small to be clean took 40-45 years of work on it, imagine how much more and hard work, it would take to sort out our emotions, feelings, and psychic impressions that are not even visible to normal eyes?

How can we clean the mess?

Yeah, let’s just work on the messy part first.

Take time – 15mts a day without fail and look at your emotions and feelings. Observe your actions and trace them to their source.

Listen to your words, I respect your words – whether in mind or that comes out of your mouth. Listen and see if you mean what you are saying.

Become aware.

Be attentive to your intentions and feelings. Then look at the dirtier part – the intense attitudes and emotions like anger, laziness, jealousy, greed, selfishness, lust and so on.

First, see what is present and how they express themselves through you at various points of time.

Then question their need in your life. Later work with various techniques to address them. Little a day and slowly but steadily you would clean your house a.k.a. your body for sure the way you desire it to be! Relax!

Points to ponder:

  • Work out your salvation through the mundane routine of your daily life!
  • We reflect our 'destiny' in the way we conduct our lives!
  • What you possess may not be in your power but how you feel about certainly is!
  • One who is not happy with what he has now, will never be happy even when he possesses it all!

Reflections - On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

Reflections -  On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

It was only few years back that someone explained the logic behind this. They explained how our 240sft house housed 6-7 inmates always. And the people visiting was anywhere between 15-25/day. With that many people coming for studying (departmental exams), games (card games, caroms etc) and for lunch, dinner, evening snacks, there was hardly a probability of keeping the house “Ikea model” clean. Though the house was never dirty, that was the only saving grace for me.

On the other hand, others hardly had people coming over. And even if it be so, then the house was so huge that they could accommodate everything and allocate a place for everything.

I never found a reason to justify how it was. For me, it was bad and I was not able to keep it the way I wished.

But, finally what a relief now! Able to clean room in just 2-3 hrs effortlessly. When finally, it happened it seemed easy. But it took all these years of trial and error. It also meant change every other month. Cleaning every other month, I would change everything. It would take ages to clean the house.

You are going in the wrong direction if these thoughts cross your mind or if these are your arguments:

·        But my sister/aunt or I keep the house clean right from day 1.

·        Everyone praises my house.

Know we are in not competition here. Read the post and understand why this is told. What does a house not being clean mean? What does dirty mean? What do clutter and messy mean?

Points to ponder:

  • Whether the house is owned or rented, keep it clean.
  • Whether the house is owned or rented, charge it daily.
  • Whether the house is owned or rented, treat it with respect, love and gratitude.
  • Even if the house is rented, it's ok to treat it nice and feel good about it.
  • Even if the house is rented, we can still be happy in it!

Reflections - On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

Reflections -  On cleaning – On keeping the house clean!

One desire that kept me restless for 40-45 years is this – keeping the house spic and span. Whenever I would visit any house, it never would bother me if their house was huge or expensive. Their gold, assets never bothered me. But if their house was spic and span, I would feel very bad. And the next 2-3 days all I would be doing is cleaning the house. The emotion is not that of jealousy or envy. It was sheer disgust at myself for my incompetence to keep my place so clean! This was like an obsession. This would take me to my friend’s and relative’s house too. This nature even took me to other’s place so I could clean their every nook and corner. The houses I cleaned would be disgustingly and unpardonably dirty –unhygienic. Ours was just untidy, cluttered and messy. Yet, I would put both in the same bracket and would be grumbling. I would clean their mess and come to clear up our clutter. this went on for years.

And finally, about a year ago, it finally happened. Now, this place is sorted as I always wanted. Each in its place. It is messy even now and then, but that can be sorted in 10-15mts now. Oh! What a relief when this desire was fulfilled.

My anger was based on the fact that our house was just 240sft two rooms 8X8 and 8X12 sft with 3X8 kitchen. And their houses would be anywhere between 1700sft to 2 acre mansion. They could keep such huge houses clean and why couldn’t I do that in ours?

Points to ponder:

  • I have heard people say "Maam, why should I do Vastu healing when the house I stay is rented?" and I say "The body you stay is also rented. You have to leave it and go one day, why eat, exercise and take care of it? Let it be!"
  • Even if the house is small (owned or rented), still we can choose to be grateful for it. We can still make memories in it...!!!
  • The house may be small, yet if it is yours it is better than the royal palace. The one who knows this, understands this, feels this will never feel little, insulted, cheap or sad because of his social status!
