Reflections – on missing on jewels we have

Reflections – on missing on jewels we have

Firstly : All festivals bring with them joy, vigour, enthusiasm, fun and laughter. That way, festivals and celebrations are good. I also like them for these reasons.

But, it is the aftermath of festivals and celebrations that I don’t look forward to. As you rightly guessed, the reason is ‘cleaning up the mess’. This year Deepavali was no different. I postponed cleaning the lamps for couple of days (as usual!). We light diyas for Deepavali and after it is done, I clean them with tissue, sun dry them for a day or two depending on the weather and then pack them up for safe-keeping. That way, they are ready and good to use the next year too! The Vedic tradition of reuse, recycle we can see in every ritual! But then, that’s for another day.

Now, this year too I cleaned the diyas and put them up for sun-dry. As it rained, I took couple of days to feel them ready to be packed. As I want to clean them with tissue, I saw Om beautifully carved at the bottom of the diyas. Now, I was contemplating on an issue and I saw this as an answer regarding that issue. That is though not the point for today!

Contd.....
