Different shades of gratitude

….contd….

“I thank my previous Reiki Master today for teaching me Reiki and also for teaching me a very important lesson of being in sadhan. As you all know I had done my couple of degrees else where and since our Guruji is always stressing of going to saying ‘thank-you’ especially to your master, I went to meet my master in my home-town last month. The ½ an hour I spent with her was not pleasant by any standards. She had stopped taking classes and looked totally disheveled to me. She was bitter about everyone and everything. Even her family members had left her and she had hence become very lonely, skeptical and also moody. I left her place confused. When I narrated this incident to our Guruji last month, I simply said “But, you can be very grateful to her for being such a wonderful Guru to you. I for one consider her as my Guru for teaching me such a valuable lesson.” I was no doubt surprised and asked her as to what she taught me or our Guruji.

“That no matter what heights your reach, your fall is possible the moment you stop your sadhan. So come what may, never ever forsake your sadhan. Just look at her and elarn. A lady who had shown path to so many herself is confused, bitter and lost for want of sadhan. So come what may, never ever forsake your sadhan. Just look at her and learn. A lady who had shown path to so many herself is confused, bitter and lost for want of sadhan. We’ll/you’ll become her if we stop our sadhan” she explained.

I was stunned for a moment and I realized my stupidity then. So true! Your past doesn’t matter because what you do today shapes both your today and tomorrow. So, be in sadhan today. We don’t have a choice there!

How effortlessly our Guruji turned that negative incident into a learning experience! And yes it infused new energy into my commitment to sadhan and I’ve been doing it since that day regularly. I am grateful to my previous master for teaching me such a valuable lesson by loosing so much in her life. But, I don’t know how to say my gratitude to her without hurting her. Can you help?” she asked us with no one in particular.
