On mind

On mind

You are successful or you are a failure – both are the results of your mind.

You are a devil or God incarnate – both the outcome of your mind.

You are sad, desperate, lonely, depressed or you are happy, joyful, surrounded by people who love and respect you – both reflect how you have trained your mind.

You HAVE A mind. You are given a mind. You are given mind so that you can discipline it and make it your genie and work out all the miracles of and in your life.

But sad is his life who is slave to his mind. Anger rests in the mind that is the master of the man. Hatred and desperation for fulfillment of desires is the state of mind that is gone mad.

But the good news is that mind however reckless, useless, devilish it be, it can be trained and brought under the control of the man. And the simplest of all techniques is Meditation.

There are ample reiki techniques to train the mind.

Use them all regularly and become master of your mind.

Use it to achieve all that you dream of.

Use it to be happy, successful and rich in life.

Stop being slave to your mind and its desires.

Rise up, get up and free of your limitations.

Achieve and BE what you are capable of!

Remember, your outer world is the reflection of your inner world. Heal your inner world and your outer world will change for better. Don't expect miracles to happen in a week or so. It will take time. Have patience and be in sadhan.

Points to sit and think about :

Meditation - what it means and why is it so important especially when a person is so 'proud' of his 'thinking ability'.

Meditate - are you using all your mind's logical ability to argue against it or using your desire to win over your fear, loneliness, sadness and depression?

Meditate - be courageous enough to know self. Be courageous enough to face the truth about your real self. Only one who is courageous enough can actually sit and meditate. One who is addicted to pain, anger, hatred and depression will find umpteen reasons to sit and cry. He will find reasons to run away from meditation. He will not meditate. Leave him alone.

YOU meditate and be free of your pain. You become free from your circumstances.

Time you make your mind your friend.

Maya's mind game!

Maya - Mind's game

Rope – Snake game!

In the jungles of Andhkaaranya lived a monkey by name ‘sahasiram’. One day he felt he had grown big enough to roam about in the jungles of Andhkaaranya all alone. He set to seek permission from his mother. She gave him permission and along with that her advice “Son, learn to be aware and alert in the jungles of Andhkaaranya. It is very dense and many dangerous animals and our enemies inhabit this jungle. You should especially be wary of the big python ‘kal sarp’ which can swallow you at one go. Never meddle with him.”

Monkey Sahasiram joyfully ventured into the jungle all alone. All through the day he was enjoying every act, jump and having his fill of his favourite fruits too! Night came. His intense activity throughout the day tired him and he went to sleep on a tree top. Somewhere in the middle of night an odd sound woke him up. It was pitch dark. He was frightened. Suddenly he remembered he wasn’t with his group. He also remembered his mother’s advice. Fear took over him. Very carefully he stretched his hands to hold a branch. His hand touched a rope which was tied there by a hunter to catch a prey. The rope was hanging from the tree branch to the ground. It was dark. Moreover he was frightened. Our Sahasiram mistook rope to be the Big python ‘kal sarp’. Out of sheer fright he slipped and fell to the ground. He incidentally fell on the rope which was lying there on the ground. He was sure it was the kal sarp. He froze out of fear. He knew he would be gulped down the throat of the snake any moment now. He couldn’t move a bit. He started to sweat. But, move he couldn’t. In the morn he was found dead – just out of fear.

Fear forced him to mistake a rope for a snake. This fear froze him to death. Fear is the biggest ‘kal sarp’ of our life. It kills us even in the absence of its presence. Monkey is the mind that believes ‘what is not’ as ‘is’. This is called the ‘Rope-snake Reality Shift’. Our fears can kill us even when they don’t exist. This is the biggest Illusion of the Mind.

Unfortunately, all through our life, we go through with this misjudged conception of the reality. We presume ‘what is not’ as ‘is’ and ‘what is’ as ‘is not’. Confused? It’s something as:

a. I think someone is jealous of me when in fact they are not
b. I think I / my people will lose their health/ wealth/ success etc someday
c. People are always thinking bad of me
d. If I have something then it’s not worth having. Something that I lack only is worth working for and getting
e. I am afraid things will go wrong…. So on and so forth……

Fear is the mother of all sins. And it stems from Ignorance – ignorance of the true self. Fear is based on the Unknown many times and the mind that imagines all and sundry without any logical explanation for the same.

Didn’t our dear old Gabbar say “Jo darr gaya woh mar gaya”. Vedas shout from the roof top stating that the biggest of all sins is ‘fear’. Beware of it. From it stems all our other sins. A fearful mind cannot think straight. And a mind which is full of confusion and fear can never take any decision which is right. It cannot also think right. It would presume and think that presumption to be the truth. And this presumption is the basis of many of our pains and sufferings. We lose the greatest gift of thinking straight and living in the moment when we have a fearful mind.

To develop clarity of thought is the biggest asset we can invest in. And to do so we need techniques that remove confusion and fear from it. Sadhan is the only way to do that. I am sure you all know by now what they are.

a. Meditation
b. Developing mindfulness – develop sakshi bhavana
c. Living in the moment
d. Rebirth with confusion and fear
e. Surrender with the belief ‘if HE brought you to it, HE will also see you through it!’

Walk into the light of knowledge away from the deep dark jungles of ignorance………

Wishing you all the will power to do the needful is

Me, My Guru – on disturbed mind

Me, My Guru – on disturbed mind

“My mind chatters non-stop. Help me to stop it. What do I do for that?” asked another.

“People are not behaving right. I am so angry. What do I do?” I asked. Each one asked a question related to their life. But, all that said only one thing – “that our mind was a monkey creating chaos with ego, anger, demands, justification, fault-finding, jealousy and what not!” We needed to address that aspect of our mind. We failed miserably there.

Our mind was way smarter than us and so it always won. That way we ended up living emotions of fear, pain, anger etc as it wished us to! But our Guru didn’t explain all this to us today. She had told us all this umpteen times. So, she simply started her answer “Once Buddha was going along with his disciples. Having walked for long, they decided to sit and rest under a banyan tree beside a lake. It was then that one of the disciples asked “Master, pray tell us how to stop the chatter of this mind? What do we do?”

Buddha simply smiled and said “But before that, bring me some water to drink”

The disciple went to the lake to get the water. Some villagers were taking bath there. So, he walked ahead to fetch water. He knew water where people were taking bath was not good enough to drink. As he got down in the lake, a cart came rushing into the lake. The water became muddy. The disciple waited for that water to settle. This way something or the other kept happening which made it impossible for him to get water. So, after sometime he decided to go back without water. He returned and narrated the same to Buddha. Buddha just smiled and asked him to sit down.

# Me, My Guru stories, on chattering of mind, control the mind, handling ego, energies, our presence and absence, anger,

also read previous post : https://kantipadam.blogspot.com/search?q=fish+and+the+ascetic%2C+me%2C+my+guru

read the given link above to understand how our energies/aura/thoughts emitted from us and by us effect the atmosphere around us. Here it is beautifully explained. In this given story we see how fish are comfortable with the Ascetic as long as his thoughts are without lust or kamam. The moment his thoughts become harmful, lustful and one of hurting them, how they move away from him. If fish would sense won't people react to how we feel about them!? If I am hating you day in and day out and wanting you out of my life, would you be comfortable, happy, good to me and around me? If you are good to people who are good to you only then how can you expect someone you dislike to like you or make you feel comfortable? We receive what we give out! I have said it like a million times and am committing this wrong of repeating myself again this time.....WE RECEIVE WHAT WE GIVE! When I hate my m-i-l I can't expect her to love me - remember that!

What’s the benefit of this simple exercise called Meditation?

As simple as this technique sounds, it’s the ultimate in the spiritual path of Self-realization. Please, don’t rub it aside as one only for the spiritual seekers or aspirants. Just look at the benefits and decide if it is a must or not for a man of the world.

1. It has been proved scientifically beyond doubt that a mind that concentrates on a single object or a thought, even as odd as ‘Monkey’ calms down eventually. Thereby, blood pressure comes down and the body releases ‘feel good enzymes’. The greatest bane of taday’s cut-throat life style is hypertension, blood pressure, heart attack, insomnia and such related diseases. Just by meditating it’s found to calm the nerves and keep all these above mentioned diseases at bay.

2. An agitated mind creates a problem where there is none. Whereas, a calm mind finds a solution and an opportunity where there is a problem.

Life is a journey with unknown twists and turns. And it always throws them suddenly. Now, only a person with alert, calm and camposed mind can find opportunity at every twist of life. This internal state of equi-poise comes naturally to a person who regularly meditates.

3. Instead of being a reactive person, we behave as pro-active person.

4. An agitated mind weakens the body. And the person finds even daily chores a torture to do. On the contrary, a calm mind has more energy that is passed on to the body and in turn the body effortlessly goes through the daily routines effortlessly.

5. “God, give me the strength to change the things that I can. Give me the courage to accept the things that I can’t and the wisdom to know the difference between them”. This prayer is answered in affirmative for a person who meditates.

These are just a few benefits that a beginner need know…….. good enough for anyone to start the one act that is ONLY beneficial both in the short and long run of it……….

Meditate to experience the benefits……
