Me, my Guru – on Sheikh Chilli, the dreamer!

Me, my Guru – on Sheikh Chilli, the dreamer!

Today, everyone seemed restless as I entered the class. And I had thought I was the only one irritated today. But, looking at everyone’s face, it was evident we all had brought our baggage of emotions of frustration, anger, and irritation to the class today. I realized we carried lots of resentment within us. And that was expressed as emotions of frustration, anger and irritation outwardly.

And the person who was our ‘dumping ground’ – our Guru was sitting adjusting her saree (an attire worn by traditional Indian women). She must be humming some sweet melody, I presumed. I mean where was that smile coming from otherwise? She seemed oblivious to our woes. She was in the middle of and centre of our negativity and yet remained calm, poised, smiling and gentle in her conduct. How? I was to never get that answer, I believe!

Tea was served along with biscuits for all. We drank. But no one seemed to be aware of drinking it. But our Guru was seen relishing it without uttering a single word. I didn’t like it. We were in hell and yet, how can our Guru enjoy her tea and be relaxed? That seemed callous to us. (Callous – being insensitive, heartless, cold, harsh, very cruel)

Points to ponder:

"Today, everyone seemed restless as I entered the class. And I had thought I was the only one irritated today. " - We feel everyone is out there to get us when we are filled with fear. We feel the World is a beautiful place when we are joyous from within! It's the same people and the same World and yet, we find them to be different on two different occasions! The reason being our STATE OF MIND! Wouldn't it be easy and useful for us if and if only we worked on our state of mind to make our life easier and happier? Think about it!

"But, looking at everyone’s face, it was evident we all had brought our baggage of emotions of frustration, anger, and irritation to the class today." - Just read this statement as many times as possible! Be with it for a couple of minutes. Go through your past events and your state of mind! Wherever we go, we carry our baggage of emotions with us. And WE DUMP it on the places and people we encounter in our lives. And to think and say that a certain place or person is negative, well is it justified? Every time you meet someone look at the baggage you are carrying and dumping on to that person! Be aware of what you give and then you'll realize why you receive what you receive!!!

"And the person who was our ‘dumping ground’ – our Guru was sitting adjusting her saree (an attire worn by traditional Indian women). She must be humming some sweet melody, I presumed. " - Similar to this situation, it is possible that people dump their negativity on us sometimes in our lives too! But look at that Guru! She is calm and composed even though their energy is so negative! That state is a possibility! Our sadhan should be to reach that state! Our sadhan should be a practice on developing that attitude! Our sadhan should be "to be calm and blissful inspite of circumstances". That is the ONLY PURPOSE OF SADHAN!

"I mean where was that smile coming from otherwise? She seemed oblivious to our woes. She was in the middle of and centre of our negativity and yet remained calm, poised, smiling and gentle in her conduct. How? " - People will be what they are! YOU LIVE AND SHOW WHAT YOU ARE! DON'T let others behaviour DECIDE yours!

Look at the last para where Guru is considered to be callous. Is it true? If yes, why? If no, why? This is exactly how we name others. This is exactly how we judge others!

On Guru’s grace – Me, My Guru

Misunderstanding quotes | Mouloud Benzadi

“Oh, she’s money-minded!” there was so much of disgust in Vinay’s voice.

“What would benefit her by way of money? Taking class immediately when you ask or at a much later date?” asked Rahul.

“Immediately” replied Vinay.

15 Quotes About Misunderstanding
“Then if she is really money-minded as you say she is she would’ve taken class immediately. As that would give her money” but she is postponing or not arranging for one itself says she is not money-minded. Right?”

Vinay didn’t have an argument there. So he asked “Then why is she not taking class?” Rahul just did not attend classes, he was in sadhan regularly and over and above that he was working on his way of thinking and himself over the years and that could be seen the way he was dealing this issue and very commendable!

“I can think of umpteen reasons.

She is busy with other classes which she always is.

She is not well

She is busy in/with personal life

The dates – hers and yours are not in sync – i.e., the days she can take and you can attend” replied Rahul.

“Oh! My God! I didn’t know there were so many reasons!” replied Vinay.

Questions answered :

  • What is the basis of pain and suffering in all relationships?
  • What is the basis of misunderstanding in relationships?
  • What is the basis of assumptions?
  • What is miscommunication?
Points to understand and apply :

  • Importance of communication in a relationship
  • Know the area of pain and go to the source of it rather than find a victim on whom we can pin the cause of our pain (నీబాధ  యొక్క కారణనే తెలుసుకొని దాన్ని heal చేసుకో. అంతే కానీ ఇతరులను కారణమని అపోహలో కృంగి పోకు )
  • if you are angry it is better to tell that you are rather than sulk and carry it for ever in yourself and then bring it out at some inappropriate time and on some other person
  • understand the importance of healing our day to day psychic impressions like irritation, conditions and anger
  • how many times we presume the other person's intentions and cause of actions and jump to conclusions
  • give benefit of doubt to other person's act and words - may be they didn't mean to hurt us at all......

Heal self!

Heal self!

Every time we pass on our feelings of irritation, resentment, anger, frustration, hopelessness, helplessness, emptiness, inferiority complex without healing we are creating a 'time bomb'.

Every negative feeling is added to it and it starts to tick the moment we leave it 'unhealed' at the start...

It is as if with every incident we are adding one drop of water (negative feeling) to the bucket of 'negative feeling'.

The day an event or a trigger happens that fills this bucket of water to the brim it overflows and that comes out as an outrage. It can come out as a mindless massacre, shooting, suicide or some harmful act.

No one becomes that overnight.

It is years of experience gone undetected, unnoticed and unhealed that comes out as rage, anger.

Not every one becomes a murderer.

We can end up hitting our kids, friends, servants in the fit of anger. That is also a sign that "the time bomb of anger" is clicking inside me....

and we ask "why do we need to heal " our every day experiences?

You decide!

You think!

You choose - choose wisely!

 Points to ponder :

Why to heal?

What happens when small incidents that generated small feelings of irritation, resentment etc were left unchecked over long periods of time?

What is the cause of sudden outbursts of people which we condemn when it happens?

On moving forward!

On moving forward!

We all want to move forward. Our dreams are of the future. We dream and wish for future – well most of times.  We want things to shape the way we dream of them. Am I wrong here?

Well, assuming and talking for those who dream ahead and wish for things to shape their way – let me give you a ‘heads-up’ on that! IT IS NOT GOING TO BE SO!

Yes! Unfortunately, so! None of your dreams and wish is going to come true – but this is only for those who are still holding on to their past!

Every time you bring up past and keep talking about it, cribbing about it, complaining and generating energies of hatred, irritation, anger and what not for that – know you are sowing seeds of the same for your future.

So your future is not going to be what you want it to be – BUT IT WILL BE THE WAY YOU ARE WORKING TO SHAPE IT. It will be full of the energies that you are generating – that is full of anger, complaints, frustration, irritation and all that!

So you decide on what you want and how you want to create your future at least from today on wards…..

I know you have read this link many times before...and yet since the questions remain the same it goes to mean it has not been understood in toto yet...it is yet to be applied, accepted, ingested in our personality and life and see the change as in the story....

read the story to understand how a little change brings about a huge change in life....the same applies to all. Those who are interested only in venting and wanting someone to throw their negativity will not benefit this time too and be with same problems - not because they are meant to be so. But because they CHOOSE  to be so! They are adamant enough to not make the change that can bring abundance and happiness that they say they want into life in reality. So they are where they are - not because of some mother/mother-in-law, child /spouse, sister /sister-in-law, boss /company, ill health or so.....

Those who are going to read and take time to ponder on this pass your understanding, observations, applications to others......share if you care.......

Life gives us opportunities to develop 'great qualities' like sharing in life and become 'great' eventually. But we miss out on every opportunity under various excuses....again choice makes or breaks us...choice determines our actions - they our behaviour and our habit and that in turn our character. our character decides our destiny....

Quotes about Doing the right direction (40 quotes)

She being herself answered “No. keep giving advice. Keep helping people. Keep explaining to people. Just remember to not own the results and its benefits if any. Disown it. next, don’t condition the results. If someone takes, bless him, someone doesn’t bless him too. And as you do work on others, work on the areas on which are you are helping others. If you are asking someone to let go off their anger, look at yourself – which is the area where you apply let go in your life – especially anger. Is it an expectation, condition or a belief? And then work on it. Heal it. Don’t blame or judge them or get angry at them for not taking your advice or thanking you after benefitting out of it. do the job. Enjoy ‘doing’ and expect nothing in return. Your healing happens faster than you can imagine. You’ll become lighter. Your light will shine forth and that’ll reflect in every aspect of your life – more beautifully than you can imagine” having said this she sat with eyes closed.

We discussed among ourselves for some time. We exchanged our views.

Then after sometime we joined her in meditation. Today, we glided into meditation much more effortlessly than usual!

Was it the topic that we covered?

Was it her presence that made the difference today?

Whatever it was, it was good for us!

We liked what we heard and received together. Many of our pending questions too seemed to be addressed today.

Time to see where and how to fit this understanding in our life!

Jo Kitts Yoga, The Santosha Studio, 40 Foghamshire, Chippenham (2020)
Yes, we had to make it part of our system. What use is it otherwise?

With these thoughts we started our meditation. We sat in meditation till even these thoughts were silenced.

We tasted silence! And that tasted better than all our understanding put together!

On such days leaving her place seemed more painful than ever! But we had to and so we did…….for now….

Pointers on this post :
  • "She being herself answered " - Inspite of being scorned, talked with irritation in the tone, she maintains her poise and calm....that is not talking about her. That is not to say "oh, so Guru's are supposed to be like that" and go around judging one and all people whom you call or term as Gurus...Here we are seeing a possibility. Here we are being told the way to conduct ourselves and to maintain our poise and balance inspite of people around us being hurtful, irritating and getting angry for no reason.......if we can just pick this up and work on our state of mind, we will then have no problem with any one in our life. All our relationship problems would vanish once and for all.......
  • "Don’t blame or judge them or get angry at them for not taking your advice or thanking you after benefitting out of it. do the job. Enjoy ‘doing’ and expect nothing in return" - this sums up our behaviour after giving advice to others.....when someone doesn't take it we get let down, angry, irritated. We end up trying to find reason and justify it as their karma not being good or any of their character which is not up to the mark. Once shop keeper sells us does he come to our house and see if we are using his product and then judge us if we haven't unpacked even after years of purchasing it.....be like a shop keeper, give advice and forget it.....
  • "We tasted silence! And that tasted better than all our understanding put together!" - This silence can be experienced only when the mind is calmed or put aside for some time at least. This joy is greater than nay 100 times greater than the greatest joy you know of this world.......smart person is one who goes for a higher joy in comparison to the lower joy every time.......at least start with working for this joy by meditating for 15mts per day......with no expectations out of it - just for the joy it is capable of giving when done right......go for it....its yours for asking.....

Note :

Every time i see anger, fear, irritation, suffering etc in one of you, i know i haven't explained enough or right......so i keep working on various ways of explanation. This path is very difficult and i appreciate each one of you however little steps you make for still keeping up this walk with me. I never said it was easy, but I can promise one thing, it is worth it and is more satisfying than all the journeys you would make in this and any other life time. This also would make your other journeys enjoyable and that is the beauty of this journey. It just doesn't make you rich from within but opens you up to the joys of this world which you so much seek....
in this post i have made few changes in the way i added tips on understanding the post better........let me know if it was useful in any way.......

55 Best Zen Quotes and Sayings to Simplify Life | BrilliantRead Media

“But, words are words. What has it got to do with playing with ball?” he was more than irritated now.

“Well, yes. You know things of the material world and use science and its craft to get best results there. But Master is one adept in subtler science – science of energies. Master knows words are not empty words. They are not made up of letters and sounds. They carry energy. That energy is received by ‘the word’ from the one who utters it.

Imagine ‘He desired and uttered the word and the creation came into existence!” Don’t hurry reading this sentence. Stop here. Meditate on it - its import, its power, its essence! Understand the power of ‘His Word’ that He uttered OM and the world came into existence” If you understand this you’ll understand the power of word.

Similarly, every person’s energy is carried in the ‘word’ that he utters” she stopped signaling a tea-break.

10 Inspiring Zen Quotes
“So, you say our words don’t carry that much energy as Masters” there was contempt in Vaishnav’s voice now.

Though most of us didn’t have his anger or emotion, it was still difficult for us to process and understand what she just said. Why did these masters’s have more energy in their words? Time to become Master, we thought!

But she took her break seriously. She didn’t answer. She replied with a smile before retiring into her quarters. We had to live with samosa’s and kachori’s served by Rahul and Aziz and our displeasure till she returned.

Today ½ an hour seemed like an hour. Surprising how time expands when we are suffering and runs fast when we are happy? Does everyone feel this way or just me?

# on receiving and giving advice, and state of receiver, willingness to receive, energies and how and where they function from

Read the above given link to understand these points :
  • to understand the power in a Guru's words and their impact in the believer's life
  • it is not the physical proximity that bestows 'grace' but the 'purity of belief' that makes all the difference
  • people who quote as 'I know him for so many years or I was with him for so many years' hardly get the benefit of 'being with the Guru'. Look at Judas who stayed with one of the best Gurus of all times - Jesus and yet remained slave to his greed and sold his Guru and soul for few silver coins.....
  • Character of the person doesn't change because of the proximity to a Guru but when the person is ready to throw away his 'attitude' when he comes in proximity of a Guru receives more than he had come for......
  • A person who defines the role of Guru and its impact in his life treats Guru as his genie who is to dance to his tunes. No doubt, he gets angry, irritated at his Guru even when his wrong is shown to him.
  • But a person who surrenders to the word of his Guru drops his ego before coming to a Guru and that makes it possible for Guru's blessings to show results....
  • When a Guru's blessing is received, a person even without working finds his works and issues resolved on their own.
  • When we send reiki to others, they still have to work and our reiki goes to aid them ONLY. But when Guru sends reiki, works get done automatically! And so sensible and pure in heart shishya surrenders his achievements, success, happiness and every thing that he receives to his Guru.
Pointer to understand this post better :

a. “But, words are words. What has it got to do with playing with ball?” he was more than irritated now. - How many times we must have got irritated for simple words uttered by others? Apply this not only with your Guru (if you have any) but also with your family and friends. Here Guru was explaining and V got irritated for no good reason.......many times our anger stems not from what is happening then but because of the anger that we carry over time on that person......meditate on this.

b.“So, you say our words don’t carry that much energy as Masters” there was contempt in Vaishnav’s voice now. - Again, we read unnecessarily between the lines. We assume what hasn't been told also and get angry. We dump our anger, irritation, resentment on the other and yet consider ourselves good enough to receive only good from others?!?
Next, instead of meditating on our anger and finding the root cause of it, we justify it with our reasoning......and there in lies our cause of suffering....meditate. Meditate on the attitude especially anger, hatred, irritation (as we go through this post) to understand the root cause of it.....don't use some one as your punch bag for anger and then expect them to be good to you....even if they forgive and don't hold grudge against you, your karma of hurting them will come back in the form of others hurting you and giving back what you have generated and given to the person in your life....

c. Time to become Master, we thought! - what did the Guru say and how did the students interpret it? And then after becoming masters they are angry and confused when they find their issues just being where they were and how they were....wrong understanding comes from faulty mind set......clear the clutter of the mind and only then clarity of thought would develop. All that we presume is not 'correct'.Beware of your thoughts and assumptions!

d. But she took her break seriously. She didn’t answer. She replied with a smile before retiring into her quarters. - When the person is right and is not operating out of ego, they don't have to justify every single time. They are not ready to fight. Not fighting is not their weakness. It is their strength. Only the actual strong can apply 'restraint' even when provoked. They take their decisions when and how they choose to and when needed, not because someone is instigating them to........

e. We had to live with samosa’s and kachori’s served by Rahul and Aziz and our displeasure till she returned. - Here was snacks served by others. It was free which is welcome by many. Most people want to be given things by others. It pains them to give. And yet they couldn't enjoy 'the free' that they so want to receive because of the displeasure within. Situation doesn't give you as much pain as your mind does! Our mind is our greatest enemy!

f. Regarding time - time is time. one hour is always one hour. But when we suffer the pain it looks like eternity and because we want it to be longer while we are happy it seems to move very fast. Both are untrue. So, if we train our mind enough, the tough time also can be lived effortlessly and without counting minutes....it will pass in a jiffy with the right state of mind........mind training doesn't mean 'tough situations and time' wouldn't come but they will seem very small and trivial......

Hope this explanation helped you to understand this post better. This is the way to read all the posts too.........

On genuinity and happiness

On genuinity and happiness

Contd......

Now how does this happen. Quite simple if you understand the Universal Law and that is ‘you receive what you generate’.

Previously as a reaction you would generate irritation, anger, fear, disappointment and its allied feelings all through the day thinking about the issue/person. The result was it again came back the next day in the form that you disliked or feared. Yes, we create the monster that we suffer with!

So, now when you are happy at other times, that is the energy that has to come and hence either the issue or person becomes less painful the next day or time that you have to face it/them. And, you healing it removes the basic cause of its creation and over time it gets healed.

But this all becomes easy and long standing only if you change the way you deal with it and change the way you live your day.

First, stop complaining about it to one and all. If you are not doing it aloud, then look within, you are continuously feeding it with your thought.

Stop that! You need to make conscious effort to do that. It may look hard but no excuses there for anyone. Use every healing technique to achieve that goal. The more you complain/think, the more you generate that energy. So, stop that right away!

Where to find all answers?

You may want to listen to "Tora man darpan kahlaaye" from Meena Kumari Hindi film "Kaajal".....even translation is given in the video for those who don't get hindi words.......hope you enjoy it.....it summarises the article.........

Me, My Guru

“An old woman once lost her gold chain and was found searching for it under a lamp post at midnight. Passerby felt pity and stayed to help her in her search on that chilly night. As time went by more and more people joined in the search. After say 4-5 hrs came a young lad and asked as to what they were doing.

Then he came to old woman and asked “where did you lose your ear-rings?” she said “in my small dingy dark hut”.

“Then why are you searching here?” asked the lad.

“Because there is no light there and there is light here under the lamp post” replied old woman.

We like the old woman need to look into our dark, dingy, lonely, hut – i.e., our heart to find the gold called “Truth”. But because it is dark there we search for it in the external world.”

There was pin-drop silence as she narrated this story. This was not the first time that she was telling this tale – no. I’ve heard it umpteen times and yet it seemed fresh and beautiful. Well, so was any story that she told us. May be it never was about the story at all! It was ‘her’ telling with which we got connected. Just like today!

Suddenly I realized that it was since long that I’ve heard her speak for so long. Yes. We had been coming to her place and spent entire day and yet she would hardly talk. She would be just there and we would sit and argue and put forth our emotions, explanations, observations and leave. She hardly contributed with her words. Since when I can’t say! But, I realized that except in “regular class” she wasn’t talking much. And I didn’t even realize that till now. Did others? Their behavior didn’t give out that understanding. Was it because we didn’t miss her talk? Infact, of late each of us was talking a lot about our experiences and insights. Was she really capable of communicating in silence? Rahul, Priya and few others always said so and talked about such experiences, but I didn’t believe much of it. Not that I thought less of them or felt that were lying. No! but yet……couldn’t digest these things – especially about a person you see in flesh and blood leading such a simple ‘no-nonsense life’ in front of your eyes day in and day out. I was with such thoughts when her voice cut through my thoughts “I know when you ask a question, your search should begin and end where you lost what you are searching for – love, peace, satisfaction, faith – your own little heart. So, I direct all my answers to that point. But I suppose you don’t want the answer you want me to follow your emotions and walk your path. Your anger, resentment, irritation stems from this fact that I am not doing it inspite of your multiple trials! That’s all! Go ahead and feel all that you long to feel. Because I’ve discipline enough for both of us!”

.....contd.........
