Me, my Guru – on epidemics

Me, my Guru – on epidemics

death quotes on Pinterest“Guruji, I am afraid of dying.  I think world is coming to an end. The epidemics are the proof that my fear is true. I don’t want to die. Save me Guruji” enquired Aarthi with her voice shaking.

Best Ever Life Asked Death Why Do Quote - lifecoolquotes“Then sit and heal the whole day long” replied our Guru.

That answer sounded like nectar to our fear soaked souls!

“Then I won’t die?” asked Aarthi half relieved.

“If entire world is going to end then what ever you do can’t save you from dying” replied our Guru.

“Then why heal ?” asked someone confused and irritated.

“So that you are peaceful as you die” she replied with a mischievous smile.

33 Great Kabir Quotes That Have Answer To All Your Woes

“How can someone smile so casually when and where everyone is afraid of death?” that was the question that many asked that day.

Famous Quotes of Swami Vivekananda || Strength is life, weakness ...But I knew now. I knew she could because she was free of conditions and expectations that we usually have from life. And as many thought she wasn’t even referring to ‘physical death’ here. Elsewhere she had explained how Parikshit sought Sage Suka’s company when he knew he was cursed to die in just 7 days. He became ‘enlightened’ as he heard ‘Bhagavam’ recitation through his Guru Sage Suka’s mouth. In short fear of physical death wanted him to put his remaining days to good use and lo! He was freed of death once and for all as he attained ‘Moksha’ – free from the cycle of birth and death!

Points to understand and look into :

  • What is it about death that frightens us?
  • For many life is going from one unfinished job to another. For others it is going from one desire to other. I have only heart complaints about both job and desires fulfilled and unfulfilled. Everyone seems to be in pain all through their life. Either being cheated by others or cheating others and self. If nothing is good about life, why are we holding on to life?
  • Why can't we train our energies and intellect in understanding life, living life and making every moment and relationship worth a dime instead of living in fear of death?

On life and death - I

***On life and death - I

Let’s say we are to live for 100yrs. You can even believe yourself to live for 400 years and yet with every year passed are we not getting closer to death?

We celebrate reaching 25 years – good! But, it also means we’ve lost1/4th of our lifespan. And what happened till now? Nothing much! It goes only to playing and growing. Isn’t it same for any age? I am not driving you towards pessimism or depression. Don’t be disheartened. I am just saying we place our happiness on the condition of our perception. And so, we look at every event in life with rosy glasses. Why do we do that?

We do so, so that we can avoid ‘seeing the Truth!’

Now instead we take courage to see the complete picture we understand that it is life! It moves forward. We can’t slow down time or hide from it. But, by participating in life with openness we can live 100yrs in one second.

Jeene waale ek pal mein hazarron saal jee lethe hai,

Warna aksar log hazarron salon mein bhi ek pal jee nahi pathe hai…

जीने वाले एक पल में हज़ारों साल जी लेते हैं ,

वरना अक्सर लोग हज़ारों सालों में भी एक पल जी नहीं पाते है।

People who live for 1000 years may not end up living even for a moment! And blessed are the souls that live 1000 years in a second!

  • Why are we afraid of talking, discussing or expecting death?
  • Is death separate from life?
  • Are life and death part of each other? If yes, then why do we see them as separate? If no, what role does death has in life?
  • What part of death are we afraid of?
Even you may have some questions - long pending...write them down in your journal. Or ask them here....wait for the answers to unfold and be brave to seek them....

Fear of disease

Fear of disease

Fear of disease is much greater enemy than the disease by itself!

Image result for fear of disease quotes

Fear of disease kills us much before disease does! If you want to be safe from ‘any’ disease then first kill the fear that surrounds that disease. We all are equipped to fight and win over any disease. It is the ‘fear’ that weakens our immune system.
Image result for fear of disease quotes

And that in turn lets the disease take over our body and us! Hence, win your fear.

Image result for fear of disease quotes

Heal your fear and overcome it. Because beyond fear lies our victory – our freedom from disease!

On life and death - I

Jeene waale ek pal mein hazarron saal jee lethe hai,

Warna aksar log hazarron salon mein bhi ek pal jee nahi pathe hai…

People who live for 1000 years may not end up living even for a moment! And blessed are the souls that live 1000years in a second!

And this ‘blessedness’ is not a gift you receive from someone. It is based solely on your perspective.

And that ‘right perspective’ and ‘attitude’ that lets you live 1000 years in one second comes only when you accept death as an integral part of life. We ought to befriend death – not be afraid of it. We should be able to look into its eyes to overcome fear of death. Then comes the desire so strong to live and celebrate life that we are ready to die to live! Then you’ve learnt to live. That is when you actually start to live. Till then we are dying every second from fear of death.

Ab hum zindagi se nazar churaathe hai aur maut ko peet dikhathe hai – donon galat hai…zindagi ko lapak ke pakado, uske har mauke ko le lo. Chalo zindagi se nazar milaana seekhe aur maut ko gale laganaa….

Now we run away from life and hide from death. Both absolutely wrong! Don’t let life get away! Don’t let it slip away! When life gives you an opportunity grab it with both your hands. Don’t pass it off! Take every chance that life gives you. Let’s learn to look into eyes of life and embrace death!

Let’s learn the ‘art of dying to celebrate life’!

Maya's mind game!

Maya - Mind's game

Rope – Snake game!

In the jungles of Andhkaaranya lived a monkey by name ‘sahasiram’. One day he felt he had grown big enough to roam about in the jungles of Andhkaaranya all alone. He set to seek permission from his mother. She gave him permission and along with that her advice “Son, learn to be aware and alert in the jungles of Andhkaaranya. It is very dense and many dangerous animals and our enemies inhabit this jungle. You should especially be wary of the big python ‘kal sarp’ which can swallow you at one go. Never meddle with him.”

Monkey Sahasiram joyfully ventured into the jungle all alone. All through the day he was enjoying every act, jump and having his fill of his favourite fruits too! Night came. His intense activity throughout the day tired him and he went to sleep on a tree top. Somewhere in the middle of night an odd sound woke him up. It was pitch dark. He was frightened. Suddenly he remembered he wasn’t with his group. He also remembered his mother’s advice. Fear took over him. Very carefully he stretched his hands to hold a branch. His hand touched a rope which was tied there by a hunter to catch a prey. The rope was hanging from the tree branch to the ground. It was dark. Moreover he was frightened. Our Sahasiram mistook rope to be the Big python ‘kal sarp’. Out of sheer fright he slipped and fell to the ground. He incidentally fell on the rope which was lying there on the ground. He was sure it was the kal sarp. He froze out of fear. He knew he would be gulped down the throat of the snake any moment now. He couldn’t move a bit. He started to sweat. But, move he couldn’t. In the morn he was found dead – just out of fear.

Fear forced him to mistake a rope for a snake. This fear froze him to death. Fear is the biggest ‘kal sarp’ of our life. It kills us even in the absence of its presence. Monkey is the mind that believes ‘what is not’ as ‘is’. This is called the ‘Rope-snake Reality Shift’. Our fears can kill us even when they don’t exist. This is the biggest Illusion of the Mind.

Unfortunately, all through our life, we go through with this misjudged conception of the reality. We presume ‘what is not’ as ‘is’ and ‘what is’ as ‘is not’. Confused? It’s something as:

a. I think someone is jealous of me when in fact they are not
b. I think I / my people will lose their health/ wealth/ success etc someday
c. People are always thinking bad of me
d. If I have something then it’s not worth having. Something that I lack only is worth working for and getting
e. I am afraid things will go wrong…. So on and so forth……

Fear is the mother of all sins. And it stems from Ignorance – ignorance of the true self. Fear is based on the Unknown many times and the mind that imagines all and sundry without any logical explanation for the same.

Didn’t our dear old Gabbar say “Jo darr gaya woh mar gaya”. Vedas shout from the roof top stating that the biggest of all sins is ‘fear’. Beware of it. From it stems all our other sins. A fearful mind cannot think straight. And a mind which is full of confusion and fear can never take any decision which is right. It cannot also think right. It would presume and think that presumption to be the truth. And this presumption is the basis of many of our pains and sufferings. We lose the greatest gift of thinking straight and living in the moment when we have a fearful mind.

To develop clarity of thought is the biggest asset we can invest in. And to do so we need techniques that remove confusion and fear from it. Sadhan is the only way to do that. I am sure you all know by now what they are.

a. Meditation
b. Developing mindfulness – develop sakshi bhavana
c. Living in the moment
d. Rebirth with confusion and fear
e. Surrender with the belief ‘if HE brought you to it, HE will also see you through it!’

Walk into the light of knowledge away from the deep dark jungles of ignorance………

Wishing you all the will power to do the needful is

Further to little things to do during quarantine

Further to little things to do during quarantine

1. Do re-birth with "fear " too as many times as you can. Fear is the common emotion we experience esp. when being bombarded with all the negative info. we receive through various social media sites......

as far as possible don't read these news....how does it matter as to how many people got infected and died?

Are we checking out daily the death toll of accident cases or drunken driving?

Do we tally diabetic and obesity related deaths daily?

Check once. You'll be surprised how many they are daily? And they don't go away ever - that means they are here for ever - and yet we accept them and their deaths as natural. We don't work on our eating and living styles that cause us these diseases or any such diseases. Then 'fear' doesn't visit us.

Where is the difference? ACCEPTANCE. Think about it.

Use every technique taught to you in every class/degree/ session to heal that fear of death. We all carry that in our DNA. Time we healed it. Good let's use COVID to our advantage. Let's use it as a mirror to reflect where our fear is. Let's address it as and when it pops its head. Let's become more accepting of this fact of 'life'. As long as life is, death is. Sooner we see it, accept it more we will have energy, time and sense to celebrate life. We will value life more and be more respectful of it.....

Japam : Let's chant "Mrutunjaya mantra" say 25000 times in coming days. Shall we decide on completing it by 31st May 2021 or do you want it to be some other day? Don't count no. of malas you do daily and then say 'maam i could do only X no. of times..."

Instead count backwards i.e., if we want to complet 25000 times say in 25 days, then we need do 25000/100= 250 malas. And then 250/25 (days) = 10 malas per day. Then we simply do 10 malas per day min. some days we are able to do more than 10. let's do it and keep adding it. most of us will notice that we are doing it in lesser no. of days than we started it. Greater the no. of malas that we decide to do and lesser the no. of days to do, greater is the sense of achievement in us. what say?

If for some reason, some one doesn't or can't chant this mantra they can pick up 'Om Namaha Sivaya' but that would be 1,00,000 (one lakh) times that means 1000 malas. Take your pick and make a vow. Don't take it to show off. Take it to complete it. So many of you have already done 250 malas of MM earlier. You could do it easily then. You can do it even now.

Sadhan : Fix 4 at least 1/2 hr sadhan time 4 times of the day like we did it during last year. Just sit during that time in sadhan. Have a list of sadhan to do at various points of time. Just maintain it reg. and lo! both your sadhan is complete and your state of mind - cheerful and healthy during these tough times.

Others can share if you find anything worth sharing....

Me, My Guru - On life and death – III!

 Contd....

Me, My Guru - On life and death – III!

We ought to break our belief system.

Death is not ‘opposite’ of life. It is part and parcel of life. Death is happening to us every waking and sleeping time. We are dying with every breath. People celebrate their birthdays. Have you looked at it a little from distance?” so saying our Guru looked at all of us. We – well, most of us nodded in negative. We didn’t like to talk about death – leave alone meditating on it or thinking about it.

But our Guru being who she was, would talk on all and sundry subjects. Most of us kept pushing this topic aside since beginning and she kept coming back to it again and again – one way or the other. We didn’t like it. It is not as if she didn’t understand that. And yet, she pushed this topic more number of times than our acceptance level. She was more adamant than us – especially in this one! I got irritated at her for this. Honestly, I was more than angry with her. So were some more!! And I am sure she knew it. And yet it didn’t affect her decision to go ahead with this topic. I mean, who talks or discusses death?

While I was busy in my head, Rahul’s voice cut through my thoughts saying “but Guruji, how can our looking at death closely help us with our life? We are so afraid of death that all our life we are running away from it. How can you expect us to ‘look at’ death? Can you be more specific?”

On post :

** Try to read the sentences marked with 'Red colour' more than once to understand them better.

Meditate on them!

"We ought to break our belief system" - Every understanding happens only when we break our 'OLD" belief system. If we keep saying "I am right, I know I am right" then with that 'adamant mindset' we can not move forward towards better clarity of thought. So we need to look into every belief system - one at a time and try to think on it. Question them. But, we can't look at them objectively until we detach from them. As long as we "OWN UP" our belief systems, we will only end up justifying them. We get angry at people who question us of our belief systems. We tend to get uncomfortable.

Being uncomfortable is good! That shows where our 'ego' is operating from. It is painful - I agree. It is uncomfortable - I agree. But, if you want to live life fully, we need to these 'uncomfortable parts' of our selves sooner than later!

"We didn’t like to talk about death – leave alone meditating on it or thinking about it." - The issues that disturb us, makes us uncomfortable, pain us we usually push them under the carpet. We don't want to address them. We don't want to see them for they mean or for what they are!

But, as long as we hush it up, as long as we don't look into our fear into its eyes we can never get released from it. Many times, all we have to do is look at it closely and without any filters to get released from it.

Courage - that is the most important attitude that helps us overcome our fears. Use it. You have it. Put it to good use and become free from fears!

"But our Guru being who she was, would talk on all and sundry subjects." - Look at the words "Guru being who she was..." - now here is a person who is fearless to talk about death and we don't see her fearlessness. We don't see her as a person who has worked on her fear and overcome it. We don't see her as a person who is patiently trying to help us overcome our fear.

Instead we 'name' her as 'being who she was' and call her names. We insult her.

This is not about Guru of this story. This is about every person who is strong, capable, helpful, courageous - be it Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Gandhi or our every day heroes from our life - we just insult their 'strength of their character' by calling them names. Who is at loss here? We at the end. We lose one more chance to benefit from the presence and words of these 'characters' in our life. And then we keep complaining, crying and cursing God and who not for not listening to our prayers etc etc.....

think about it....

"We didn’t like it. / I got irritated at her for this. Honestly, I was more than angry with her." - Look at these sentences. They all say one thing for sure - that if someone says anything contrary to our 'belief system or comfort levels' then we get angry at them. We like people only as long as they try to please us. But the real people are those who do 'right things' for you. The genuine people say 'right things' that are good for you. They are actually being truthful to you and yet....

no, doubt, we end up being with people who exploit us, demean us, use and abuse us....and later cry out loud asking "Why are people not truthful and honest? Why is everyone cheating?"

You get what you want.....you get what you work for....

so beware.....

"Rahul’s voice cut through my thoughts saying" - and in the same world we also have people like Rahul taking every opportunity given to him. He is open to every help that comes his way. This journey is painful to him too. This journey is uncomfortable to him too. But he LOVES HIMSELF too much to live in the shit of "bad choices". He is SELFISH enough to be good to himself and work for his higher good. He is ready to undergo pain to reach a state of higher peace, understanding, happiness and respect.

On life and death – II

For many just existing is enough – even it be as an invalid. If that is the choice or way of living, then that and such person need not worry on all these levels.

But if life means to be happy and happiness means sharing with near and dear ones, then I request those to check these facts making a wish of long life.

But then, is life and death in our hands? What if all around me die and I still continue to survive?

Life and death is certainly not in our hands. But, having clarity of thought on these is certainly in our hands**. What can’t be controlled need not be worried about. But our perspective on these things is certainly in our hands and we need to groom them right – when our sense are still intact. Now, we have each other to remind, support and encourage working on ourselves. Let’s make best use of this support system. God forbid, but if such time comes when we are left alone behind by all known to us, then let us be mentally, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually prepared to enjoy ‘our lone life too’ – which life has given as bonus to us. instead of being a ‘complaining, bitter old person always talking about those times’ let’s make new and fresh memories even then with our attitude.

Let’s learn to dance with life!

Let’s live life!

So, when death comes knocking it should look at us and ask us “Teach me to live!”

Let’s give something to death - of life!

Maut ko zindagi diye chalthe hai…

मौत को ज़िन्दगी दिए चलते हैं। ..

As long as we want to control the outcome, we’ll fear.

As long as we expect things, people and life to go our way, we’ll fear.

As long as we THINK ourselves to be this body, we’ll fear.

What is your favorite poem by Hazrat Maulana Rumi? - Quora

The body is just a raiment* given to us by its Creator. It is not ours to keep. We are to work through this, experience life through it and be grateful for it. We think we are entitled to this ‘body’ given to us. We think the body is ours to keep. We presume the body should be the way we desire it to be. And by committing that ‘sin’ we become ‘mortals’.
