Why look within?

Why look within?

We all desire but are we worthy of our desire?

Increase your worthiness by just walking inward!

"Look within and all your worldly needs will be taken care of by me," says Lord Krishna in Bhagwath gita. And to believe you just have to hear people who have embarked on this journey!

The benefits are:

a. Material needs are met

b. We gain internal strength to face the ups and downs of life

c. peace of mind

d. our mind becomes calm inspite of situations and their in lies our greatest treasure

e. we are reducing our painful baggage that we have been carrying with us over the janmas

f. we know what real happiness is

g. our self worth increases.

h. we fall in love with self and then starts the most romantic love story of our life

g. we no longer use people. we stop being dependent on people. So, we actually end up liking, loving and being with people out of our affection for them. And there in is the secret to having the right and good relationships in our life. h. no more can anyone hurt us

i. our physical ailments go away one by one

j. our stress levels reduce.

k. With reduced stress levels, the health complications also come down. It is a known and proved fact that most of the diseases of this age are "stress" induced.

l. our productivity increases

m. Our immune system works better

n. our know-how in our area of work increases and we start performing well in our job. Our growth is imminent!

Question time:

Those who have taken time to look within, what treasures did you find?

What did you know about yourself?

How does knowing yourself help you in dealing with day-to-day life?

The Mystic says - "On looking within!"

The Mystic says - "On looking within!"

The Mystic says “Just look within for 3-4 days. Just become aware of what you are thinking and feeling at least for one hour or at least half an hour per day. You’ll know how painful it is to look at yourself! But is it really painful? No, it is not! It is shameful. And we are not able to look at our “real selves”. We are not able to face the “truth” about ourselves. And that inability we term as ‘painful’. Just imagine! We had been so loudly and openly judging one and all. We called everyone names, and when the “truth” hits us about ourselves, we cry! What an irony!!!

Now, is the journey within really painful? YES!

Need it to be painful – NO! A BIG NO!

Then, why is it painful and shameful?

Because we identify with the wrong “US” all along! When this awareness hits us, we stop identifying with the “I” that I am and drop and let go of identifying myself with the painful “I” which is termed as “Ego”.

And then, we get to know ourselves for what we are – layer by layer and that is a revelation and beautiful! It is also exhilarating and joyous! It is wonderful all through!

This exercise is beneficial in one big way for everyone. We’ll now work on being truthful and honest. We’ll realize it is better to be ‘right’ than ‘act good or right’. We’ll realize that it is easy to be simple. We’ll simply have our thoughts and way of living. We’ll walk towards our happiness and peace. We’ll earn our respect and ONLY then we’ll outgrow our low self-esteem. No amount of talk, possessions and people in our life can fill our low self-esteem. Only when we raise in our acts will we be worthy of our respect. And we owe ourselves that respect and love! But, all this starts with looking within and accepting what we are first. Only then, can we decide what to throw away from us and what to develop in us. Only with these corrections done the right way, will we walk towards our abundance and our rightful wealth which is truly ours for asking – the Kingdom of Heaven!”

Me, My Guru – On death and healing

Me, My Guru – On death and healing

Expectation Quotes: Expectation Management in Everyday Life ...

May be that’s why our Guru always said “Don’t judge for you shall be judged!” Yes, it was so easy to see others short comings but we were oblivious to our own! – Always! And again that’s why she kept repeating “Look within! Know thyself!” Today all those words made sense. I decided to look within. Today I decided to meditate.

Law of life "Expect... | Quotes & Writings by Prathik Thushara ...
But she was doing her job her way. She even answered this question “we have power and choice to sit and heal. How to heal that person or situation is not what we can decide on. That is for Reiki or God to decide. We can only work as his tools.

The problem with our understanding in healing and of healing is that we expect results as per our conditioning of thoughts and beliefs. We expect results as per our needs and wants too! We condition results of our healing that way! No doubt when it doesn’t work or go that way or our way we think healing has failed! And thus put the blame of this ‘failure’ as a reason for our lack of trust. But what was wrong was not healing. What failed actually was our ‘expectation’.

Expectations Quotes (913 quotes)
Our expectation was at fault and yet we can’t or don’t see it. Not because we can’t see it, but because we don’t want to see it that way. If we see it as a failure or mistake with our expectation, then we have to address our expectation. That means healing it. That is exactly what we have been avoiding to do all these years. And hence one expectation after another not met became the cause of our pain and suffering. And we thought and wanted to believe that ‘our expectations not being met’ was the cause of our pain and suffering. And so we looked around to find the ‘culprit’ who was responsible for the ‘expectation’ not being met and found him guilty. We called him names. We said he broke our trust. We felt cheated. We broke down. And always the ‘culprit’ was the other person in our life – be it our spouse, kid, relative, job, master or even God! Never was it our expectation! What an irony!

Voltaire picture quotes - We never live; we are always in the ...
We searched far and wide to find a solution for the problem to be fixed except where the problem was – within us! And so, we remained ever so dissatisfied, sad, cheated, frustrated, unhappy and full of anger.

(How do I highlight in this post and what do I highlight? Every single word speaks volumes and stresses the point that needs to be understood, accepted, applied, healed and finally be used to transform self and transcend it......?)

Questions addressed:
  • How to address the pain that we experience because of our expectations from the life?
  • Is expecting others to live up to our expectation the sign of our weakness?
Points to be understood :
  • As long as we justify our expectations as 'but he is supposed to be like this na..etc' you will suffer. Remember that!
  • The day you accept your expectation and the condition that it is to be met is the cause of your suffering, nothing will change your life.
  • look back at your life - you wanted to pass an exam and you suffered all through that phase. It was fulfilled and then came job tension. You suffered wanting job. Then when you got it you said it was not up to the mark. Your boss was not good. Your salary was not good enough. You suffered your job too.....and then you said if only I am married I'll be happy. Then you got married and you still are suffering. And you have one valid candidate to push the blame on - husband and mil is bonus for you! The list continues.....look within. Look into the quality of your expectation and the conditions that you put there. Happiness is not something you can put conditions on to experience.
  • One who defines happiness and contentment as 'getting what he wants' is on the road of suffering and being pain to others too. He is working for his hell. He is walking hell. He is creating hell for others too in his life. No doubt he is without or hardly any close associate/friend with whom he can share his thoughts even........
  • Your loneliness reflects your level of 'expectation' in your life......beware of this warning sign!
  • People are not bad for running away from you. You are sending them away from yourself.
Beautiful Universal Truth :

What you are now is your choice. But your potential is something that you haven't tapped yet. That potential is something you should aim for, work for. Then sky is the limit for you and your desires.
Don't be harsh on yourself. Don't limit yourself with the present thoughts.
Don't hanker on the small toys and events of your life.
You are heir apparent to the kingdom of heaven. Why live like a beggar?

To sum up let’s look at some the belief systems that we need to work on!

A. “Everything that I like or admire should be possessed or owned by me.”

B. “So, I should only look and never want to own, right?”

C. “More the cost, more happiness it gives.”

D. “I need every gadget available in the market to be happy”.

These are just the leads. Look within and outside to find out other belief systems that we need to work on. “

Belief systems are fine but my basic problem is not yet solved.” How and where do I get satisfaction, love, peace and happiness (if not bliss)?

The answer as you always know is “LOOK WITHIN!”

So the next question is “if everything is within, then how come I see only darkness inside and I never experience satisfaction, love, peace and happiness ever or most of the time in my life.”

Question actually has two questions wrapped in it –

1.What is the cause of darkness within me?
2.Why I am not experiencing satisfaction, love, peace and happiness?

The darkness within is because of the ‘vikaras’ that we have developed and held on to – may be since janmas (births). ‘Vikaras’ are negativities such as:-
1.Anger
2.Frustration
3.Pain
4.Jealousness
5.Hatred
6.Worry
7.Laziness, etc.

Now the question is, why they are called 'vikaras'?

Me, my guru – on knowing self and mind training!

Me, my guru – on knowing self and mind training!

“Guruji, why do you insist on ‘knowing self’ when we are healing ourselves? Is not healing enough? We are good with the results we get with our healings. Why should we look within and know ourselves?” asked Vaishnav.

“First tell me, why not? Why don’t you want to know yourself? What exactly is your problem in knowing self?” asked our Guru with a smile.

“Because it hurts! It is painful when I meditate and look within. I don’t want to suffer this now. I just want to enjoy life. Just tell me ways to get my desires (which are very basic and normal for me!) fulfilled” retorted Vaishnav.

Many of us felt his rage and anger. We suffered his way of thinking and supported his line of thought in this area. He was right. We hated to look at ourselves closely. It hurt us a lot. It disturbed us. We suffered. And we felt we had the right to learn at our own pace. We didn’t have to learn it now. We chose not to put ourselves through this suffering. How in hell were we wrong?

“all the answers are in your question itself!” said our Guru. “Does looking at yourself in the mirror hurt? No! then why when you look within? If you yourself are not comfortable looking at yourself, how can you expect to like yourself or love yourself? And

Unless you like/love yourself how can you expect any other person in the world to like/love you?

If we do not know the climatic conditions of a country, how will we know what and when to wear? How will you judge the right time to plant flowers?

Me, my Guru – fish and the ascetic

83 Quotes About Understanding Others and Your Relationships

We were left with the story, our questions and our understanding.

If simple fish could behave differently to different state of mind of that monk, then what say about humans and Universe?

Pin by kelly millhouse on S Self Encouragement | Stop complaining quotes, Complaining quotes, Teacher quotes inspirational

If just, one intent could make so much of difference, then what about us and our emotions and intentions?

Where were we with our lust, anger, hatred and desires?

What we desired or did not was not that important – as from which centre we made that desire. The intent made it ‘dharmic’ or ‘adharmic’.

This did not just apply to people in our lives. It could be applied to our every desire.

Are we sending away that we want by the way we want it?

Are we pushing away all that we desire from our life with our lust filled hearts and mind?

Does ‘intent’ make it ‘dharma’ or ‘adharma’?

We fall back on our ‘understanding’ to justify our desires and acts! But…

These and such questions were raised by us. We needed to work on them and more importantly on ourselves. And for that we need to look within – honestly. That meant – meditating. So, we sat in meditation…..
