Me, my guru – Karna receives what he gives!

In the meantime, we were served our tea. A few minutes later our Guru joined us. She sat comfortably and had her tea as we poured our heart out.

Once we were done, she just nodded her head and started “You all are aware of Karna from Mahabharatam. Right?”

We nodded our heads in affirmative.

“Well,” she continued “he died as everyone should. As he was the greatest daani (Philanthropist) he went to heaven. He was Dharmic too – one not only well versed in Dharm but also one who lives by it. so, a special angel came to receive him at the gates of heaven. Karna was pleased with the reception. The Angel with due respect escorted Karna to his special chambers. It was huge and endowed with all precious stones. It was splendid. Karna felt satisfied looking at its splendor and grandeur.

The Angel asked Karna “Sir, would you like to rest a while or do you want me to show you around heaven?”

Karna was fresh as a flower. He wanted to go around his new place of residence. He agreed to go along with the Angel. From morning to late evening, Angel took Karna from one place to the other. Each place was more beautiful than the other. The Angel explained every small detail about the places that they visited. He was very respectful towards Karna. Seeing all the wondrous places and things in heaven, Karna felt jubilant. He was very excited all through the day. But, as the day turned to night, Karna couldn’t overlook his hunger. So, he asked the Angel “Brother, you’ve been showing me around all the places. But, I am very hungry. Why don’t you give me something to eat?”

The Angel felt very bad and helpless as he answered “Kind Sir, I am not allowed to do just that for you. I can give you any amount of riches you seek, but I can’t give you food”.

Karna was surprised. He asked “And why is it so?”
