On finding a Guru

Usually people talk nonsense like “if I change my attitude, then what’s the purpose of Guru.”

“It’s the duty of Guru to change my attitude”.

They listen to some discourse (many times from the middle) and without understanding the context get a sentence such as above and think they can just relax and wait for Guru to come and clean their system. Your such attitude says you consider your Guru to be ‘your astral scavenger’.

First check yourself in meditation. Ask a question and sit in meditation.

“What is that I expect from my Guru”?

Why do I want these things to be done by my Guru?

What is the definition of Guru for me?

These questions need to be answered before you send your intent of wanting to meet your Guru into the Universe because you receive what you desire. It’s the definition of Guru that decides the type of Guru you’ll meet in your life. So, be very careful about it.

Every person who is capable of teaching few techniques of some methodology doesn’t qualify as Guru. So, don’t be fooled by a term ‘master’ which is suffix of various professionals like yoga master, pranic master, reiki master etc.

Preferably take a Guru as one who’s left his human body like Gautam Buddha, Babaji (Mahavatar Baba), Paramahamsa, Jesus and others. Chances of you going wrong with Sir Adi Shankaracharya, Paramacharya et like is next to impossible. But it’s difficult to know about a person who’s living an ordinary life – to know if he/she is worthy of being a Guru or not.

If you select a wrong person as Guru, your downfall is faster than later as you draw their energies into your life and it’ll create havoc in your life.

Everyone loves to be called and respected as Guru but no one wants to work to be worthy of that post. So, many will not say ‘I am not worthy of being a Guru’. They may lead you to believe them as their Guru with their silence or smile. But you end up paying the price of your ignorance and stupidity and trust me it’s very high price and certainly not worth it. I am not frightening you but stating the fact. So please, please don’t call all and sundry as your Guru and work for your downfall. Instead select as Ideal as Jesus, Gautama Buddha, Paramacharya and pray daily to them to send the right Guru to you and also work on your attitudes in the meantime. Don’t be impatient to meet a Guru. Wait for the right one to come your way. Till then keep meditating daily with regularity, sincerity, purity and faith and you’ll meet your Guru – for sure!

At the start of meditation make an intention that you are doing it to find your Guru.

This you have to do daily regularly and when the time comes, you’ll meet your Guru.

(this is answer to query as to how to do meditation to find my Guru?)

As simple as it sounds it works. But be patient and be regular with your intent and meditation.

If you read these posts you’ll get a better picture about this fact. Everyone on hearing about a Guru from somewhere wants to have one. But they forget that unless one has the quality of humility, trust and purity it’s no use having a Guru. Because, without these qualities one cannot know or recognize a Guru even if staying with one for 20 years. They wanted the proximity once and they got it. But, because of ego, hatred and arrogance, they cannot benefit the presence of Guru in their life. This is a bigger curse. So, first pray that you become eligible to be a student and are able to ‘see and recognise’ a Guru when you meet one.

A person who is envious will be jealous of his Guru too stating stupid statements like “you are so lucky, people get you fruits and gifts and’ and many such foolish ones.

Greedy ones will use and abuse their Guru to their end and expect them to fulfill all their menial desires and then will also call them names. This is a greater sin than ordinary acts of sin.

So, before meeting, work on developing right attitude.

Can’t I question him?

Yes, you certainly can. But, when all you spit is venom and hatred, even if HE answers, you wouldn’t get it.

But, on the other hand when you question with humility and desire to know HIM then even “A wind that’s passing through…” will become HIS whisper to you and you would stand in the middle of the road when it is raining cats and dogs and you are drenched and yet you wouldn’t search for some shelter – instead would cry thanking HIM and experience HIS presence. This is no bookish knowledge that I am sharing. It’s a fact and I can vouch for it. But then, that’s for those who seek HIM not to others.

Does it make HIM partial now?

Did HE not stand in front of Hirnayakashyap and othere Asuras who hated HIM. He did and yet they couldn’t know HIM, recognize HIM and understand Him. They considered Him their enemy. So, what He does is always same – be graceful but it depends upon you to see what you want to or how you want to.

And the entire explanation is to make us eligible “to see” clearly ONLY.

Self-realization is a choice. But to understand – whatever it be also and to get WHAT YOU WANT  also you need to SEE CLEARLY. The entire sadhan is to that end only….

If you are angry after reading this post, know you haven’t understood it.

If you are sad or depressed, know you haven’t understood it.

If you are dejected or disappointed, then also you haven’t understood it.

Any sort of negative feeling, know you haven’t got it right.

Simple read, read and read this post again and again. May be 10 times/day but read and contemplate on it daily till you get it right. Read it to seek answers. Read it till you get drenched in your tears of joy that would fall effortlessly while reading it and that would happen the day you understand this post. So be with it till then.

Else, go around confused, angry, frustrated till you have had enough of it and then wanting peace come here to seek it.

Choice is ‘always’ yours to make.

First learn to see what IS for what IS. Then you go to understand and know GOD…

Then can’t I see him or call him names till then?

Do whatever you want. Spit on sun for being hot and causing heat burns on you. It doesn’t effect HIM for it falls on your face only…for HIM he is just being himself….

Then how to understand HIM and his ways? How to know His way of doing things? I find facts so contradictory to explanations, how do I trust him?

Just go one step at a time. To know and understand HIM you need to have HIS principles, attitudes and characters along with his priorities. Don’t question why they are. Just know that they constitute Him and develop those qualities.

So start with qualities of forgiving all, being totally unselfish, being regular in sadhan – just to start with. Once these qualities come naturally to you and then go on to develop other qualities. Then one day you’ll see His way. Till then, either accept the ignorance and work on vigorously.-   yes like a mad man as if your entire existence depended on developing these qualities or you suffer with hatred which is also a choice and an easy one in my opinion and hence the world at large prefers it and puts the blame on Him (as He doesn’t question them back for sure!) and goes about cribbing, complaining and hating. These are losers and hence choose this path. But the real winners take the onus of responsibility on themselves to understand His ways and hence go about making themselves worthy of understanding Him and His ways. This path is very tough and only the tough get going here. It’s not for the weak hearted. So sit back and relax, contemplate and choose your path to see the results and to live with its consequences……..

Just as couple of situations and facts don’t reflect who I AM, so too few incidents (stray ones) taken can’t make God or Creator answerable to you or anyone – for that matter.

I just picked incidents of NOW and THEN and feelings and thoughts of HIM and HER and placed it before you. It was nothing about me. and yet you drew a caricature of me with these baseless inputs and have an ‘image rather an odd caricature of myself and think you KNOW me and have labeled me and sketched my character.’ And now I also need to justify my actions to you!!! Good joke….

How childish can this be?

Do you really think I’ll waste my energy and time and thought in such baseless, senseless and non-sensical batter? I’ll just let you be!

I don’t want anyone to understand me, infact I would think less of myself if you did!

So I think I am very great and all that?

What I think of myself is my business and I don’t consider it as yours?

So how can you understand me?

That’s not in my agenda so I give a damn about it!

Just think about it!

Hope you atleast understood a little of what I am trying to explain here! F a simple human like yourself can’t be understood by you then what about God? If it doesn’t bother a nobody like me if no one understands or does if God exists do you think it matters to God?

Every thought and feeling – good and bad that you had for me ONLY reflects Your IDEA or EXPECTATIONS met/unmet by you. It no where defines me. if they were your thoughts, feelings, ideas and emotions why and how can someone else answer for them? You should know why you feel that way. And that can be correctly known only when you know yourself. As long as you flow with your emotions, thoughts it’ll reflect your state of mind, intent, expectations and character. You can never know others. Only when you go beyond these identifications can you see things for what they are.
