Me, My Guru

“Guruji, I am tensed and worried. There’s a selection going on for promotions in our office.I don’t know I’ll get it at least this time. What do I do?” asked Rajeev.

Guruji, first smiled and said” You’ll just do three mala japam of a mantra that I’ve given you for 42 days”. Rajeev prostrated and left beaming. I was also happy at this simple solution for his problem.

I gave her few fruits to eat. She was relishing eating them.Geetha came to meet her. I asked her to wait for few minutes. She didn’t like it. No one usually liked waiting. They felt it was their right to meet my Guru Right away and my Guru’s prime duty to wait for them. Why she wasted so much of her precious time counseling there people. I never understood. Forget it I didn’t even approve of it. I had even expressed my displeasure to my Guru. She had replied with her classical smile.

Pros, today I let her have her fruits. Only then, I let her know of Geetha’s arrival. She immediately met her.Geetha started crying the moment she saw my Guru. “My daughter didn’t get a seat in medicine. She’s failed in the Entrance test. She’s failed us. How can we face our friends and relatives? Why, Why did our small wish not come true?” she explained in between her Tears. I was both irritated and surprised that she was making such a huge cry of such a small issue. But my Guru was different. She just said”. Good. His plans are different. Don’t worry.Everything’ll be good don’t cry. Be Brave”.

Geetha sat for some more time and chatted with my Guru as I prepared and served them tea. She left with a smile on her lips and hope in her eyes. That was my Guru.

People got what they had come for Rajeev came for the solution-he got it where as Geetha just wanted pity and she got it. She didn’t cross her limits and press her point much. She let them experience life as they wanted to .She didn’t interfere with their decisions ever. She let them walk their path on their journey.

WOW, it was difficult to be in her shoes……

Really retaining yourself from interfering when you are given power to - that’s something only few can actually do! The rest would just grab the opportunity to run others lives…..

Maybe that's why not every one can become my Guru....
